Ok, so this guy at this forum I go to said he tried brawl, and it seems that when you dodge in the air, you can't control the direction of the dogde

basically, when you move in the direction that your momentum is taking you as you're falling.

also, apparently, air-dodging doesn't cancel jumping. meaning you can jump after an air dodge, which isn't possible in melee.

this is just hearsay apparently, so... it may or may not be true.

i hope it is though <_<

i suck when people do mindgames against me >_>

edit: looks like its true?

Well, I guess we have to wait and find out.

I pray that wavedashing stays.

Sorry, but it's not in. I watched a video and it appears that you no longer direct where you dodge. Hell, I'll just quote Smash Boards. They say it far better than I could hope to.

Wavedash - DISCONFIRMED!
It's gone guys. It's gone. We have tackled it and I found the final convincing video, the stake in the heart. It will be missed.

I started the Advanced Tactics - Confirm/Disconfirm thread and I found it. It's gone.

From here.

Wavedashing is DEAD!

This one is a win for Momentum Dodge (confirmed) and big lose for wavedash (disconfirmed)
okay, don't shoot me if you cry after watching this.

Classic Controller Demo

Diddy Kong at 1:50, he's DI'ing to the right. This means he's pressing right on the control stick. Then he dodges, but he goes in the same momentum as he always was, there is no air-dodge push to the right. since there is no increase in speed from his dodge, this will make wavedashing impossible, since there would be no "push" which is necessary for the character to slide across the ground.

DON'T HURT ME!

E for All will just the final nail in the coffin. Prepare for bad news. Oh well, it's not like all our skills were based on it. We still have:

* Weaving
* Overshooting
* Turtling
* Throttling
* Mindgames
* Intimidation Tactics
* Perfect-Block Countering
* Projectile Reflecting
* Chain-grabbing
* Edgehog
* Shield Grabbing
* SHFF (since L-Cancel seems unnecessary)
* Tech-chasing (if DashDance is in)
* Crouch-Cancelling (maybe)

to conquer the newbs... for another 5+ years. smile

Personally, I'm happy. It means that I no longer have to worry about perfecting it. XD

Y'know, when I was first playing Melee those many years ago,
Air Dodgeing kind of confused me.
It doesn't make any physical sense.
(I don't know why Air Dodgeing was what struck me on that,
since plenty of other video game moves defy physics as well.)

Momentum dodgeing actually sounds like a really cool idea.
One can only use it as recovery if one times it exactly right.
That's great.

It'll take some getting used to,
but I think once we get the hang of it
it'll be something that we love.

Landing lag is cut by a lot, so L-canceling is pretty much useless.

That sounds like good news to me!

Anyone else getting the feeling that Nintendo
wants all the players of this game to start out on the same skill level?
That's kinda the message I'm getting.
