You can create your own stages this time?! No way. REALLY?! With a feature like that, won’t I be able to play this game forever?!

Apparently it’s true...!!!

Those who enjoy a little effort may be able to enjoy this stage builder for the rest of their lives.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
First, start from the initialize setting.

You start by choosing the size of the stage, the background pattern, and the music that will play. Oops! Sorry. For music, you’ll only be able to choose from the songs you have available.

This is the edit screen!

Basically, you choose parts from the palette on the side and place them in the field.

The controls vary by controller, but each one can do the following:

* Flip parts left to right
* Enlarge or shrink parts
* Zoom in or out on the screen
* Swap palettes
* Erase

...Among other things.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Just place terrain however you like. Chuckity-chuckity-CHUCK!

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Then try it out!

Modify it and try it... Repeat as necessary. Make your own ideal stage!

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Mmm... That’s amazing.

And you can save a name and a comment for the stage.

You can change the music on the save screen. Choose something that matches the mood of your stage.

And I’m happy that this is compatible with SD cards. You don’t have to worry about size, so make as many stages as you like.

Also, if you’ve finished registering someone as both a Wii Friend and a Smash friend, you’ll be able to send custom stages to each other.

Now, for those who hate putting effort into such things, we’ve also prepared something you can enjoy as well.

"Submit" ...?

That’s right! You can use your Wi-Fi connection to send stages you’ve made to Nintendo! (However, you can’t submit repeatedly. Maybe just once per day?)

And a stage selected from the entire daily collection will be sent from Nintendo to your Wii. A stage made by someone else will come to you over the Internet once per day!

DUN DUN DUNNNNNN! That’s the shocking truth. This means you’ll be able to experience a new stage every day—the flavor of the day, if you will. However, the plan is for that stage to vanish once one day has passed. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime encounter.

You can submit in both the Snapshots mode and the Stage Builder mode, allowing everyone to enjoy the creations of others. The fun of sharing is one of the ways that I wanted to take advantage of Wi-Fi for something other than pure battling.

Today’s stage has lots of traps...

This is our ideal current plan. We still don’t know the exact service period. And future tuning may result in changes to the spec.

But for now, please look forward to it!

This update was totally eerie,
because that's the exact feature
my friend was talking about
not even a week ago.

I remember saying that I was
disappointed that the Sylph Co. Building
wasn't in Melee despite its being a
well-rounded and interesting stage layout,
and that if a stage builder were included in Brawl
my first goal would be to try to create the Sylph Co. stage.

I know I won't be able to have
Pokémon jump out of the roof,
but that just makes the stage more balanced!

In other words, this update can be summarized in three words:
Best. Update. Ever.

At least until Mega Man is announced.

No, it didn't. He just wanted the gold....

What ideas for stages does everyone have?

I'm thinking more like a trap stage, spikes on the bottom and a moving platform, you can jump up to other platforms but their the high speed running ones.

Like I said... I'm making the Silph Co. Building from the N64 Smash Bros...
...as for other stages I want to make... hmm...

Well, I guess I'll just have to play around with it to find what I like.
mrgreen

I know that I love stages that have a large, wide, flat platform at the very bottom.
Like the Final Destination stage of Melee,
I'd want the bottom platform like that, with no gaps in the middle.
But I also want smaller platforms all over the place,
like the Battlefield, but more widespread.
THAT is my dream stage.
Basically, just a wider Battlefield.

...An' maybe some moving platforms around the edges.

Also, XPRikuXP:
Your signature is awesome,
I just spent the last minute and a half just staring at it.

I think I would make a stage with a bunch of really tiny platforms, like pegs almost. That'd be ... fun?
PostPosted: Wed Nov 21, 2007 2:31 am
I'd make a half pipe kinda stage. with walls on the sides. and the top to have two or three platforms (so that when people get smashed upward they sometimes get stopped by the platforms, which just builds damage) and then maybe have a breakable platform at the bottom in the middle. and also other platforms outside the whole thing on the sides and at the bottom so that you can spike them (or in alot of cases get spiked) if they try and come back up

yeah, kinda like this:

........|...=.....=.....=...|
........|........................|
........|........................|
==...|=...................=|....==
.........|...................../
...........`===≠===`
....................................
........==...............==

If that helps...

That idea is pretty neat,
it reminds me of the way the Metal Gear stage is laid out
except there's stuff on the outside
and you can break through the floor in that one part.

I found a hilarious comic that has to do with the Stage Builder mode.
