Well the thread name sort of says it all....

What makes a saint? What says one man is holy while another man is a sinner? Pope....Man, Myth, Legend, Fraud?

Yea...just throwing out more questions

-I seem to be falling out of favor with you guys I apologize...-

Three miracles, no?

What makes a good person?

To do that I guess yo uhave to determine what exactly the root word "Good" means...
PostPosted: Sun Nov 04, 2007 2:15 pm
Yes, yes...
What is good?

Also, Dammie-kins, I don't think you've fallen out of favour. It is tricky, oftentimes, to maintain a polite attitude when debating. Forgive my rudeness.

One of the traits that make a good saint is humility. A true saint doesn't consider himself better than any other man because of what he does or what he believes. He is just like everyone else: human.

Hm, that certainly sounds like a nice way to be.

(Look, TehBoxman, you're on your way to sainthood!)

Wooo! goooo box man!

The man who thinks human beings are scum is a saint XD
(just kiddin buddy ^_~)

I guess thats one quality but isnt being a saint more than that?

Another quick question!

What does a saint do?
(just follow this if you can)
A saint of the muslim religion would be considered a suicide bomber against an enemy...does this mean that what we do is the correct thing?

@bella
I think good may be a personal discovery type of thing...
PostPosted: Sun Nov 04, 2007 6:06 pm
I disagree.
Being a suicide bomber does not make you a "Muslim saint." Martyr, perhaps, but I don't think they are saints...
I believe that the difference between Martyrs and Saints is that Saints do not hurt people. I do not know, though, the stories/histories of saints, so I have no support for this.

True thank you for correcting me!

Well I thought about it and I came up with a few "qualification"

Qualifications!

1. Generosity
2. High standing
3. Faith in (1) religion
4. A Kind Spirit
5. Willing to put forth the will of the people infront of your own
6. Devoted

(wow that actually went quite nicely I only had 3 to begin and the last 3 were totally ad-lib....)

just a small question on the side
-do you plan your post's?-

A saint must be able to relinquish anything and everything to aid another.

I disagree. Relinquish anything and everything of their own in order to aid another. Otherwise, I believe, that would not be so saintly. I don't know if that makes sense... I merely mean to say that if others were in the said's care, they would/could not sacrifice or put in jeopardy others' lives.

It doesn't have to be.
You're humble, that's the quality you named.

can a person really be a saint? i always wondered that....

i guess somewhat...because we all have selfish desires sometimes that hinder 'pure' sainthood...

*haha, pessimism!* anyhoo---selflessness is what makes a person a saint, or at least gives him the right to be or become a saint. Giving all you have to help others weather or not they appreaciate it. Well, thats what i always see when it comes to saints---sacrifice for people to help them become better people.
*but i dont know much about real saints, just what ive seen and heard...*

I don't think that it is impossible for someone to be selfless. It would be rather unlikely. Perhaps the truest selflessness is of a child never born. They have taken nothing and given life.
