Binti had spent all day wobbling about and exploring the lands closest to their den. She'd jumped through reeds, splashed in the river, and fallen in some mud. Which she actually didn't like very much since it meant her lovely coat was dirty. So, it was time for another splash in the river before she raced back to the den to find a sibling to share all the sights with.

As with a majority of her siblings who had inherited the flaming red, it was Tafuta's tail she saw first in the dim of the den.

Tafuta was rather lazy, probably the laziest of all her siblings. She loved to lay around inside the den and sleep. Though annoyingly for her today was the day she heard her sister coming back from somewhere and it woke her up. How annoying.

She opened her eyes slowly before turning, her bright blue eyes looking at the light brown of her sister.

"Do you have to be so loud?" she grumbled before laying her head back down on her paws. Her eyes still watching her sister. "I was having such a nice dream as well...."

"Tut! Dreaming is boring! Come on, there's loads of fun stuff outside!" she chimed, probably more annoyingly than she meant to.

Binti was brimming with energy today. Life jsut felt good when she was outside, amongst all the wildlife and the plants and the sounds adn the smells. The den just smelled of...well...home. Siblings. Family. And it always would. But outside...wow! So much to smell and to see. How could Tafuta be a lazy bones on a day like this?

She padded over to her sister's side and playfully nudged and tapped her, trying to encourage her to at least play if she wouldn't come outside.

Oh how depressing! Tafuta was well aware that if her siblings wanted to play and things then well she didn't have a choice. She loved to sleep but she knew when she was going to be kept awake and when she wasn't.

"Fine... I'm coming!" She moaned standing up, stretching a little.

"Why are you all so annoying?" She sighed as she moved slowly towards the entrance of the den. "Don't you ever get tired Binti?" Maybe it was just Tafuta but either way her dream worlds were the most amazing places.

"I'm not annoyin'," Binti pouted as she looked at her sister trail behind. "You're just a sleepy-head."

Not exactly a come-back, but Binti couldn't think of anything better. She hopped outside the den and practically buzzed about and ran circles around her sister as they embarked on what would the second adventure today for Binti. Something Tafuta had said was whirring away in her brain though, and she answered as she pounced at all the bugs she saw.

"I do get tired. But when the sun goes to bed. So, when he goes to bed, so do I."

"I'm not a sleepy head, the world is just more interesting inside my head then out of it!" She was going to add that her sister was very much annoying, but she wasn't going to do that, not yet anyway.

Tafuta was becomming dizzy, "Quit running around!" She moaned a little more just before her sister told her how annoying she really was.

"Your not the sun though, you don't need to be asleep when it is! Dreaming is so much better then playing, one day you will realise I'm sure!" She watched her sister and carried on walking, blinking a lot when the sun hit her blue eyes. "Ugh!"

"How can it be more interesting in your head? There's no trees or smells or wind or aminals in there," she snorted back at her sister, actually stopping as Tafuta requested.

And then, being the practical kind of cub, she actually marched over to Tafuta and peered inside one of her ears.

"Nope, nothing in there!" she giggled and then bounded back off again, stuffing her head into a flower to smell it. Unfortunately, such actions aren't without their dangers. A bee buzzed angrily back at her and even with her enthusiasm for all things new, she felt the bee wasn't a good thing.

"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH WASSAT!?" she ran for her sister.

"It.... just is." Fine she couldn't explain it to her sister but she wasn't about to waste lots of time doing so either. So instead she just let out a soft sigh and watched her sister bound over to her and then off to a flower. She felt a little stupid.

Then her sister got attacked by a bee, "See thats why dreaming is better! You don't get stung!"

Binti pouted at her sister. This dreaming land was beginning to sound more and more attractive.

"Still...if stuff doesn't happen, you never learn. Can you learn stuff in a dream?"

She regained her confidence, slightly, but still steered away from the flowers from now on, marching her way through the grasses and scenery, hopping on mounds of earth and rocks.

Tafuta nodded, "Of course you can!"

Whether you could or not was clearly irrelevant. She believed you could and that was all that mattered.

She then ran after her sister, who was marching in a rather amusing way. Tafuta loved her family!

"Hmm...maybe I should just spend more time dreaming then, like you," she commented idly as she marched further on.

Suddenly...SQUELCH!

Binti had 'marched' right into a muddy patch at the bank of the river and was slowly sinking into it. Her reaction was an odd mixture of delight and horror. It was amazingly...messy and squelchy...and smelly. And just so...natural!

"Tafuta! LOOOK! Its like...water but thicker...and it looks like the ground but isn't solid!"

Tafuta was suddenly very glad that she was behind her sister and not infront of her.

"Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww"

That did not look nice. Was her sister sinking? She wasn't sure though part of her looked at her sister and was almost certain that she was indeed sinking. Or was she? Oh it was so very confusing.

"Are you sinking?" She was now sure that her sister was but at the same time if she was sinking it was very slowly so Tafuta was wondering whether it was just one of her dreams again.

Binti blinked at her sister, her smile disappearing. She slowly looked down at her paws, already deep in the mud. Little bubbles rose to the surface as she slowly sank. She tried to wriggle her toes...move her foot...anything...but nothing was moving. It was just too thick!

Now she started to panic. She took laboured heavy breaths and looked to her sister in horror.

"I'M SINKING!" she yelped and continued to struggle, only sinking faster. The mud was up to her chest now.

Tafuta wanted to laugh at her sister but she realised there was actually danger here and so ran off!

She wasn't just running off though there was a reason for it and after a couple of minutes she came back with a rather large stick in her mouth that she was half dragging along the ground. Moving awkwardly she placed it so her sister could get hold of it.

She made a strange noise which was her attempt at saying 'hold on' and waited. Hopefully her sister would understand.

Binti gasped and panted as she saw her darker sister disappear from sight, all the while feeling the mud rising. She made strange noises that were half-sob, half-yelp. By the time Tafuta had returned, Binti was almost neck deep in the mud.

She saw the stick and if it weren't for the overwhelming fear messing with her head, she'd have smiled for joy. She made an attempt to paddle towards the stick a short distance and nodded at her sister just before biting on the end firmly.

"'OT IT!"
