I'd really like detailed advice on these please

Edit: I need these done by the end of the day!! If you have anything to say about them, say it fast!

i don't think you'd get in trouble, unless you had really detailed parts or something. (if i'm wrong, let me know, and i'll un-post the picture here) xD

hmm.. well, the contest one... -thinks about it-
she's busty, all right.

but that aside, you should try using a 'wireframe' sometimes when you're working on something you plan on doing long-term. it really helps when trying to get proportions right, and eventually, you'll see the frame in your head, and you won't have to sketch it out. when using reference pictures, even, draw a wireframe based on the reference pose, and then flesh out your character - you'll be that much closer to getting your proportions correct.

take the contest one, for example:

use circles and ellipses for joints, and basic shapes for head hands and feet. if you already have a reference photo, you can judge with your eyes where the joints are, and place them accordingly. if you don't, that's okay, too. just draw a stick figure in the pose you want, and then draw a wireframe from that. it might even be good to look at magazines and try to imagine one for each of the models, so that you can get used to it. remember that the spine has a slight curvature, too, and your characters will look more natural.

for eye placement:
eyes usually fall halfway down from the top of the head. your eyebrows are generally even with the tops of your ears, that will help you place them correctly.

for eye size:
you should be able to fit an entire eye width between the eyes when your portrait is facing front. for angled views, remember that the bridge of the nose may seem to take up some of that space, but it really doesn't.

also, the far arm should not be thicker than the close one, unless the character calls for it (eg., Hellboy). additionally, you don't need to 'taper' the joint from the underam to the forearm in this position. if you do (as you have), she'll look as though she has webbed arms. because it's an angled/side view, the arm should come straight out from behind the breast. easiest way - draw the body and arms first, then add the breast afterward. once you've done that, you'll see what i mean. this is where a wire frame or frame of reference comes in handy - you can see what goes where, and then add parts like breasts, etc.

tip:
try standing in the position your character is in. you'll notice that you're leaning forward just a bit, and with your arm above your head that way, you're a little off balance. now, extend your left arm out and a little bit backwardfrom the shoulder a tiny bit. then extend a bit more (outward) from the elbow. your balance should feel a little better. this also adds movement and personality to your character. :3

Ok, thank you! I'll work on that tonight. All the advice sounds good.

If you have anything to say on the other one, I'm welcome to it.

I love your advice, I think it will really help a lot 3nodding

Oh, i'm glad i'm being helpful! <33

The only comment I had on the other one was that the ear in the back seemed a bit high, but it might just be a little too far forward. bring it back a few pixels, and it should be fine. conversely, you could bring that left ear (your right) a bit further to your left, and it would seem to match up a bit better. try to imagine an invisible line across the top of her head, and you'll see where the ears would go.

also, although i have no problem with busty women ( -is one- x3 ), this particular breast is too far to the side. because this is practically a rear-view drawing, the breast would be hidden quite a bit more than that - unless she's a FF cup or something, in which case, great job! xD

that far arm seems to start really low, but that's fine, considering the angle. just don't forget to add the slope of the back as well.

But it's really good; I like it so far - can't wait to see what you do with it! O:
i'm gonna have to run away for a bit, but i'll be back to post today's drawing - probably very late, though.

Ok see you later, and thank you so much for taking the time to help me out <3

I'm really happy about it, and now I'll know what to do when I work on them tonight.

Sorry, I'm terrible at critique.. but I just wanted to say that posting naked pictures is a-okay as long as they're not pornographic (which these aren't, so it's quite fine).

I do love the first picture though. <3 Yay anthros!

Do you mind a drawover/paintover crit? It's easier for me to explain things like that rather than verbally, considering it's all visually related.

Yes, I would love one!

Bah, sorry, I always forget to check this forum. Hope this helps even though the day's over.

I do commend you for trying difficult poses, it's good exercise. Sorry for messy drawover, it's fairly self explanatory. Just note that the body has planes that give it dimension, so when you're working on shading it should follow the form. ^^

@_@ I killed the hands, bleah. When the arm raises, it pulls the breast up with it, so it'll look more flattened (unless the woman has implants). Overlaps help greatly with foreshortening, and remember that it'll always go from thick to thin to show something coming closer. And if the hand is going around an object that's hard, it'll conform to the shape of the object. Hope that helps, keep up the hard work!

Thanks, it's too late for the first one already, but this will help the second a lot I think! Thank you

@ akanekun :: that's a really good tip - i should pay more attention to that sort of thing, too; would probably keep me from being so limited... D:
