as many of you know, the flamethrower is a popularnominee for an anti zombie weapon. however this increases the chance of getting attacked by a flaming zombie, however i believe that a zombie wound of any caliber can be deadly (as detailed in the zombie survival guide) so the difference between a zombie bite and a flaming zombie bite is negligible. so, the only real danger that a flamethrower causes is an increased chance of burning down nearby trees or buildings, which applies to flamethrowers being used on people even more. so, as long as the flamethrower is used as a backup weapon, i see no reason why it could not devastate closely packed zobmies. homemade flametrowers made from super soakers are also very easy to make, common and cheap. so, whats your opinion on the flamethower? also, i bought a pistol crossbow for 13$, more info to come soon.

Fresnel 49, actually. Unless you've found another I don't know of. The problem with flamethrowers is that zombies, who feel no pain, can keep moving for... 30 seconds, maybe a minute while on fire. A zombie with a .45" hole in its head can keep moving for... well, however long it takes to hit the floor. A second or two. i figured since how i wasnt 100% sure id just go with the lower number. true, but to compare the effectiveness of the two you would have to take into account the A. accuracy of both weapons, a flametrower has a much larger spread and B the price, you might not have the option to outfit all the members of your team with firearms, but still need to do some real damage to the horde. the modified supersoakers have a range of about 20ft depending on the model and fuel, which makes it a far better option than a blade as far as range goes. while it would be terrible for anything with the possibility of close quarters (which the flamethrower is not intended for) it would be excelent for clearing an area of zombies with a limited budget and untrained troops. ignite, retreat, ignite, repeat.

Price? Looting is free, btw. razz
I don't advocate looting, but there's no way in hell am I going to be able to carry 5k rounds on my back.

I don't advocate looting, but there's no way in hell am I going to be able to carry 5k rounds on my back. its a better idea to make one from a super soaker before everything goes to hell. and a super soaker will be fairly common, while most of the guns will be taken. i bet some will gather up all the guns and sell them for incredibly high prices.

Well: I've thought about it, and there won't be a currency system.
There'd be trading. So go raid the local supermarkets canned food section and trade it for guns.
Or make your own food. Or raid somewhere else, like the "Adult Store". It's a lonely post-appocolyptic world out there. the way i look it those will be raided fairly early (great minds think alike gonk ) but a toy store would be pretty low on the list. things like food, tools, etc would go within days. so your option would be to get at lest 200$ worth of supplies at least, or salvage a supersoaker or get 30$ worth of tradable goods.

Yeah, any Class A only fire extinguisher should be refillable. You just depressurize them, unscrew the top, pour out the water, fill it with gas, and hook it up to a bike pump. It ends up looking like this.

Stoic Socialist I think that class "A" thing isn't the best idea.
Gasoline filled molotovs arn't useful for a reason. It's all napalm-like-stuff now.
And that stuff'll murder that fire extinguisher of yours.
Besides... Isn't it the air that's flammable, not the liquid its-self? Well, given the number of people that have used worse than class A fire extinguishers (which have brass/steel nozzles, mostly), it's proven pretty effective. With some airgun parts, it could become quite the little weapon. If you use premium gas, or even alcohol, it would be quite effective. Molotovs aren't used since they're difficult and dangerous to handle. We have much more reliable incendiary grenades now. As to flammable oxygen, oxygen is required for combustion, yes. One of the most devastating effects of the military flamethrower was the incredible amount of oxygen it ate up. Simply firing one over an occupied trench would rob the soldiers of air, asphyxiating them without ever burning them.

Okay, maybe it'd work, but please, tell me...
Why would you risk killing you, your group, and buring down your building when:
You could have an AKM, 400 rounds of ammunition, and a 6 magazine chest rig for the same weight?
I understand the "cost-effectiveness". Okay, I honestly don't.
Why are you worrying about cost-effectiveness, even if it's not true, when you could spend them same amount of time and find a firearm?
