Rahima purred deeply as she cleaned the bright fur of her youngest child, drowning out Kianga’s sleepy murmurs. She’d been ill the past couple of days after sneaking out to stand in the shallows in the rain at night. Beautiful in the moonlight it may have been but she’d got a bad chill and had been spending half her time sleeping in the warm since. Still. Lesson learned and her daughter was on the mend, Rahima mused, leaving her side. She nudged some of the dried grasses she’d brought into the den from the beach with her nose. Keep the cub warm and she’d be fine.
The red female emerged into the sunlight, her gaze resting on distant red-white-black figures on the beach, catching sight of another adult, all various distances from home. The sight caused her purr to continue as she walked down to the surf. This place was paradise.

"Mom!! Mom! Look!"
One form seemed to have sensed she was coming, and had already made a beeline for the den, but as Rahima reached the shore's edge his course had seamlessly altered to match. He carried in his jaws a smoothed stone, perfectly oval in shape, at least to the naked eye. Grinning proudly he puffed up his fur as he stopped by her, holding it up proudly in his teeth for her to see. It was a dazzling shade of gray, almost white though as if the color and darkness was being drained from it over time. The smooth texture of the stone also seemed to give it an almost glossed appearance. It was no shell, but he was delighted all the same.

"How pretty son! Where did you find that?" She asked, lowering her head to peer at it, while smiling proudly and making sure she sounded interested in her sons find. Rahima knew where she could find stones simular but paying such attention was good for the young ones, she was sure. Besides, it was a nice pebble.
