Finnish actress Maila Numi, who popularised the early-TV macabre character Vampira has died on Jan 10 in her Hollywood Hills home. She is believed to be 85. The cause of death is yet to be confirmed.

Numi also appeared in the notorious Ed Wood movie Plan 9 from Outer Space. Her career took a nose dive by the 1960s, but her distinct Vampira look can be seen today in the contemporary Goth look.

A memorial service is being planned for Numi.

And in different news, some of the guys from Mystery Science are going to be riffing on Plan 9 From Outer Space in a theater in the city. It's happening tonight at 9pm Pacific. I can't go because I'm sick now X_X but darn, I bet it will be funny.

OMG! i cant believe shes gone. she was really awesome, and beautiful (in my opinion) although i like Elvira and watched her when she used to actually host movies rather then star in them, Vampira will always be the one who deserved the title. or whatever it was that she was. lol.
