Ronan padded along with his head down, his tail swaying merrily behind him. He did this so he wouldn't have to see. He didn't want to see all the trees, he didn't really care about any of the bushes, and he didn't really want to know how much of the bird singing above him was covered in brown feathers as opposed to maroon. But if he were to look up, he would surely see it all, and all at once. And sometimes, it was just easier to let his mind rest.

Except that looking down, he still saw all the blades of grass passing by beneath him, and the shadow of his paws and the paws themselves, and the little lion frowned lightly. Fine then, he would rest completely.

He padded over to the nearest shade and flopped down under it, shutting his eyes to the glare of the morning sunlight. Behind closed lids, his world was a paradise. A small smile spread itself over his muzzle, and slowly grew until he was grinning at nothing in particular except the wonder of life itself, listening to the gentle sounds of nature. The sounds that triggered nowhere as much brain activity as anything he could ever see.

And there he sat, the little juvenile lion, eyes shut to the world around him and, for once, simply listening.

((So short - sorry. And soooo sorry for the wait! Better posts to come now that my SoA muse has returned!))

For once in her life, the little Jumuu was feeling playful. It was a bit of a rarity for one so serious, but she was young and not quite an island. She wasn't made of stone and ice and could still feel all sorts of emotions - it just seemed that fear and and anxiety often dominated her personality.

But today was different.

The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and her anxiety had been pressed aside by a nagging urge to play. And who did she stumble across but her brother, Ronan, offering such a perfect opportunity! Ducking low, ears pressed against her head, the little lioness let her rear wriggle with excitement. Step by step, ever so slowly, she began to near her sibling - what on earth was he doing!?

Closer. . . closer. . . step by step that little one finally reached pouncing distance. One. . . two. . . .three. . NOW! Giving as loud a roar as she could (which was awfully pathetic) Jumuu sprung from her position. She hoped to scare him, as well as pin him down but the black and white spotted lady was more than prepared for a fight.

Jumuu had caught Ronan during one of the very few times he ever closed his eyes in broad daylight. Had he been sitting and simply watching the world go by, he would have spotted her movement long before even she realized she was headed toward him. As it was, with his eyes shut and with only his ears to watch out for him, he didn't pick up on the noises around him until it was too late.

He heard a little roar, and then a gray ball of fur flung herself at him. His eyes snapped open and he squealed in his shock as she collided into him. Dear god, she was possessed! He had never seen his sister... play before so he could have assumed that perhaps she was sick, or something had messed up.

He grabbed one of her forepaws in his little teeth as she sailed at him, and then dropped, hoping to flip her right over his head.

((No worries xDD))

((Hahaha! Possessed! x3 ))

It worked - almost. Her roar of prowess suddenly transformed in to a shriek as instead of tackling her brother, she was lurched head over paws instead; but the flip didn't manage to execute perfectly, and she wound up ploughing head first in to both her brother, but mostly the ground! Her paw was twisted back, not in a particular painful way but it wasn't exactly a comfortable position to be in! Ears pinned, and tail fur fluffed up, her golden eyes gleamed with a moments irritation. "Ronan!" She hissed, shaking her paw and attempting to remove it form her brothers teeth. This was a move she hadn't been expecting, but perhaps she would have known of it had she played more with her siblings. Still, it was a nasty trick and she didn't particularly appreciate her game coming in to such an abrupt ending.

Where was the wrestle? Where was the fight?

Still, it was only a game - she just hadn't expected to be thwarted so easily! Heaving a heavy sigh, the little female's tail twitched and she tossed her brother a sullen look. ". . . . so much for that." She was no fighter - was there anything she was good at? Apparently not.

Grey and green tinted tail flicked back and forth in irritation as she studied her grey brother, not taking the initiative to move from her fallen position - yet. She would soon enough, but for now she figured she'd keep her fallen position in to her siblings moved. Gold eyes quickly searched about, hoping there were no witnesses to her pathetic attempt at 'fight'. Maybe she needed training. . . .

Ok - so she needed a lot of training.

So she was still sound in the head. The little blue lion was glad for it, and as he sat up and released her paw, he grinned widely. She might be better at the music-y stuff than he was, but he was good at playing. That was the only word that could possibly describe the skills he had been born with.

"You don't say..." He said with a giggle, reaching out and pawing at her. "What... was that?" He added curiously. Why the sudden urge to pounce him? He had absolutely no idea.

He watched her from where he sat. Maybe, he mused, she needed to learn how to play. He almost burst out laughing at the thought. Learn how to play indeed. What a ridiculous idea. Playing was an inborn skill that all cubs had at birth. Maybe Jumuu was just rusty at it. After all, she had never really made an attempt to join in the rough-and-tumble games that he and Laszlo, and even Gharadi, had used to play. That must be it.

Rather like how he probably knew how to hear music, but couldn't because he had never really utilized this ability. He hoped so, at least. Figuring out that the lack of music was no just a matter of rustiness would be horrible.

Jumuu blinked as her brother teased her, though she continued to glare. As he reached out with his paw, she took a little n** at it before rolling off her back and more to her side. She craned her neck, peering up at the grey sibling of hers, not sure how to respond. Still, she had tried to pounce and wrestle him in a game. . . Figured he wouldn't appreciate the effort. No wonder she played by herself - to wrestle with others only made things more complicated. Especially when they couldn't figure out her games from insanity.

Sure that her brother wasn't about to pounce her back in to submission, the spotted female rolled fully to her feet and gave her disheveled coat a little shake. Sitting down with a small huff, she turned and groomed her coat in a rather mad and frantic moment, pausing only when she was quite sure her coat was settled. "That," she explained, "was trying to get you to wrestle and fight back! Not flip me so I ate dirt!" Her nose crinkled some as she chastised her brother, but her glare had softened to a light glower and, reaching over, she batted lightly at Ronan with her paw. "So much for that. . ."

A small giggle assured Ronan that she held him no true ill will, and begrudged him not. The matter was over and done with quickly, and it was time to move on to something more interesting to talk about than her lack of playing skills. "You shouldn't just sit out in the sun like an easy target, ya know. Something might come along and eat'cha!" She gave a sharp snap of her jaws, as if to prove her point. It was a good thing she had been the one to find Ronan first. . . .

Had it been a leopard or starving rogue hyena who knew what might have happened?

"Was it really?" He chuckled with a small nod. "And here I thought it was you..." He paused. "Nevermind, I won't go there."

He grinned, reaching out with his own paw again to counter Jumuu's bat. For a moment, he almost missed life before they had moved to the pridelands. Being out where they had been protected only by their parents, they had always had to stay close as cubs. They had spent more time with each other then. The pridelands were a peaceful enough place, but it was safe, and they had all taken to wandering wherever they so pleased within the lands, so that it was hard enough to simply sit and spend time with one another.

The little lion shook his head. "You were just lucky you caught me wiht my eyes closed," He told her. There was little pride in his voice. For him, it was simply a fact of life that he could see better than he could do anything else, and here he was only stating that fact. It was nothing particular to be proud of, at least as Ronan saw it. For if there could be a pride full of lions who said they heard music, so too there could be a pride of lions out there with above-average eyesight, as he did.

The cub blinked, golden eyes focusing on her brother in a moments concern before letting his comment drop. What did he think she was doing. . .? Eh, maybe it was better not to ask. Her black tail swished lazily back and forth behind her as she relaxed some around her sibling. She loved her family, very much, but found that within the Pride spending time individually with each one wasn't quite so easy. The lands were so huge that they could wander far enough to stay separated, but safe. . . . Jumuu didn't quite trust the land so much as t not be a little on edge but there was relief that one needn't worry much about rogue lions and leopards finding her siblings as snacks!

The spotted cub nipped affectionately at her brothers paw before offering him a little grin. Any earlier irritation she felt was completely forgotten as the conversation moved on - Jumuu wasn't much of a fighter. "Well I know I wouldn't stand a chance if you could see me sneaking up on you. Your eyes shut saved me from having to be SUPER stealthy!" Arching her back, her rump firmly in the air, the little cub shimmied slightly in her spot before giving a playful leap back at her sibling. It was a half-hearted leap, more of a flop, and she made sure to offer him lots of affectionate licks. Just to be obnoxious.
