My, had he come a long way.

Colour-lost eyes scanned the sky from where he was resting, the large brute decided that it was high time he took a rest under a familiar view in a slightly unfamiliar land - a sense of kinship and family up in the sky. Now he wasn't entirely new to the area, he had spent a little under a couple of weeks in the vicinity of the pride; the outskirts if you would - and hadn't quite realized there was one here until only a few days prior.

But it still suited him rather well.

It was nice and from here you could see the whole sky, unlike the jungle, or the high rocklike lands of the pridelands. This, to him, could be a good place to retire from his nomadic ways.

Like the rogue, the pride had only noticed his persistent presence near the outer edges of the pride's new lands only a couple days before. As far as anyone could tell, he was no threat, but still the king decided it was his time to investigate into it. They weren't about to chase away rogues, but if he was so fond of the area then perhaps an invitation was in order. It was a lovely time of day, and just light enough that the dark rogue could still be spotted as he star-gazed.

Once Unyezi spotted him, he was careful not to hide his presence now. This was not a hunt and he did not want to startle anyone, especially a rather large stranger.

"Ahem," he cleared his throat carefully when he was within earshot.

Fortune smiled on the dark rogue when it came to his sense of hearing, and although the other's footfalls sounded soft and full of experience. But the more he listened in, the more he felt a sense of softness in the way the other moved, even before seeing him. It was only when the other cleared his throat, did the darkened eyes of the star-pelted brute turn to attention.

A proud figure, that's what stood infront of him. Someone with meaning, and purpose, what he saw infrot of him was a lion with a future of comfort and probably a few hard decisions. It made the large lion smile softly, before fully showing his recognition of the other lion.

Maybe he could be of assistance?

Lifting himself up to his full potential, as a sign of respect to another, the star-pelted gave his smile a more welcoming glint to it, before finally answering the other's verbal communication. "Good evening to you, Kind Lord. What graces you to be with my presence today?" He queried. It was better to be kind and respectful to those in their own lands, (because he sure looked like he knew where he was, unliken to Nyota), then to make enemies off the bat.

Unyezi couldn't help but smile when the rogue rose, his dark fur was very striking and not too unlike the Shaman's fur. Certainly the patterns were not exact, though they were similar. He stood as tall and proud as he could, though it seemed the stranger was larger than he was. It didn't make much difference though, for he was addressed with much respect and kindness.

"Good evening," he replied, "I am Unyezi, king of the pride who resides here now. We've noticed you wandering nearby here for some time." His tone was somewhere between a statement and a question as he tried to find a good indication of if he might wish to stay or if he turned out to be less innocent than he seemed.

Well, he was blunt, to say the least.

The tone that has been lightly pressed into the query had been caught by the larger rogue as he lowered his head slightly so. A king! He mused internally, A king, of a pride that resided in the beauty that surrounded him now. There truely was no need for the larger lion to conceal himself so much; as he had so many times in his youth and even during his early prime.

Bringing his head up even more so, so that he may watch the stars that stared down at this fated meeting, he finally spoke out once again. "It is true, fortune brought me to this blessed territory, I didn't realize at first that it had been claimed." He stated, dark eyes searching the heavens for the best words. "I've come to find myself at peace in this area; unlike most places that I have travelled to." With this line his head turned down to the king once more, "I'm sure you feel just as well about this place. I mean no harm, of course, I like to believe that this is more of a sanctuary of a sort."

Unyezi smiled and visibly relaxed when the rogue spoke, for it was certainly similar to how the king himself felt about the lands. They'd searched for so long, it was fortunate that the perfect area for them turned out to be so amazing outside of it's resources. Someone else who felt the wonder and peace of the area certainly could be welcomed.

"What is your name?" he asked amicably, hesitating a moment for an answer and to decide to try to find out a bit more about this stranger. A rogue coming to him to join could easily be questioned, but this was a different situation entirely, "How did you come across this land? I know we feel very fortunate to have found it ourselves, it is very beautiful and peaceful."

It pleased the rogue that the lord before him could physically calm in his presence; Nyota was a large creature, yes, but he always attempted to make himself come off as a calm creature. Shaking his head softly, he listened to the other one's query, wondering how to answer them without making himself to be weird.

"As far as I can remember, I've been known as Baba'Nyota; a Protecting Star; dear Lord. he gave up, more than happy to converse with the other. "But, for your question as to how I found my way here; the natural and usual route. I have been travelling for a long time, since I was old enough to put one paw infront of the other - can barely remember my birthhome." He answered, turning his attention to his paws. "I guess you could say I've been looking for a place to call home - I heard a rumour of a wonderful little clearing from a unknown overlooker; many a mile behind my pawprints."

"Suppose I should have known it would be the home to a pride all ready; Especially one who can enjoy the mid-eve sky." he chuckled softly, before finishing up his spiel. "I hope I didn't impede, I suppose my curiousity brought the cub out of me again."

( Unyezi introduced himself already X3 )

"Baba'Nyota," Unyezi repeated, nodding at the very suitable name, "It is a pleasure to meet you." And he meant it, it was nice to know that the rogue that stuck around was friendly enough, and he certainly seemed polite and respectful.

"We only recently came to inhabit the area, we do have a very beautiful view of the night sky around here," he agreed brightly, sounding almost grateful, and he looked up to the sky, "Probably the second most important quality of the area and why we settled here." Now the king paused, getting towards hi point, he glanced back down to Baba'Nyota.

"Would you be interested in hearing about our pride?" he asked, "Perhaps you might like to stay."

Star-dotted ears curved forward as he listened to the slightly smaller lord reminisce about the founding of this little area, and felt at ease with the whole situation - it made him feel much more at home. He couldn't place why, but the lord was a kind lion - far from what he had seen during his travels.

"I would be more than interested to hear of your pride - I had the fortune of accidentally stumbling upon the knowledge that one existed, but did not know how kind it was." he answered, before humbling himself slightly. "The more I hear of this pride you hold, the more enticed I am to consider asking for membership; that is, if you will have me." He stated, before giving a small chuckle - he was not one for rough words.

Unyezi was always happy to talk about his pride, and after the meeting with Mwezi and Malkia he was feeling a little more confident- though this was still only his second time trying to welcome someone into the pride, and this situation was much different. Baba'Nyota would certainly be a very welcome member, if he joined.

"Well, our pride has a very specific class system determined by the favor one has with the Great Lion," he explained, trying to find the right way to explain it yet again. If he could just prepare an exact speech and memorize it, perhaps this would be easier. Unyezi looked up to the sky again as he continued, "The moon is his eye, and the brighter and fuller the more watchful he is, and the better it is for the pride. Those born under a full moon at the highest class, and those born under the new moon are lowest."

As if by cue, the lion lifted his head to the sky, almost a mirror to his own pelt with the exception of the greatest difference, the great mon that hung in the sky. It made a great deal of sense to Nyota, the moon was always there when he travelled, a friend and a guide - a guardian also at that. He owed many a lifetime to it.

"I find your pride to hold a very sound lifestyle, as far as I have heard." he answered, his eyes not straying from the "Great Lion" as it were, as if having a deeper conversation with the protector of the skies. "I too, follow the ways of the moon, it is a much kinder friendship than that of the sun." Finally, without hesitation, he turned away; back to the king that sat with him, a sense of commno-ground and kinship felt from him.

"I think I may find myself enjoying this pride, if you would have me."

Unyezi smiled, glancing from the sky down to the lion before him as he commented. It was good to hear such things from outsiders, and his answer was very much something that deserved a place in the pride. Baba'nyota could not have provided a much better answer, in fact. With a second glance towards the moon, the king sighed contently. There was more to tell, but with an eager rogue then all was well.

"I believe you would be most welcome," he said confidently, "Because we cannot be sure which moon you were born under, you will have to undergo a simple ceremony to determine it. The shaman and priestess that do this are very kind."

"Most, if not all, prides have a way to show where in the heirarchy that you lie in; I have seen some harsh ways to redeem yourself, but, from how you tell it, it sounds rather pleasant." He answered, eyebrows raising and demasking his curiousity. Everything the king told him enticed the lion more and more - this was sounding more and more like a dream. He wasn't sure if he wanted to awake quite yet.

"I appeciate the welcome, and would like to learn more, of course. I'm sure I could handle a simple ceremony, for he whom you named Great Lion to deem me, I am sure he will be wise in his responce." He answered, flickering a tail once - he was a humble soul, and hoped for nothing more than just a place to rest his feet. A home to keep watch. "The break from all this walking will help, also."
PostPosted: Tue Mar 04, 2008 10:02 pm

"On the next full moon, the shaman will give you an herb that will put you to sleep," he described the ceremony as simply as he could, "You'll of course be provided a meal, as it'll put you to sleep at most until the new moon. When you wake up is how your class will be determined, and once you know that you will be told your options for positions within the pride."

Unyezi nodded and looked back towards his home.

"Would you like to come take a better look?"

"If that is how it shall be." He simply put, his head bobbing once softly before returning to peering at the lord with curiousity and wonderment, a sense of gratitude and comfort flowing from the now-claimed rogue. The idea of settling seemed both wonderful and somewhat frightening - he had always been on the road.

Well, it was never too late to learn how to stay still. Lifting himself up, he took after the lord, head high and eyes wide open.

"After you, kind lord."

Nyota was home.
