-- AIM rp between Palia and Wingu Waya ((Tae & DFA))

Palia hummed as she padded along. Her conversation with Tailsin had made her realize how few Ela lions she had actually met, aside from her mother and her mother's friends. Now she was on her way to find Tsi, hoping the other pale lioness could introduce her to some other pride members. She liked Tsi, Tsi was nice. Unlike Wally! Hmph!

"TSSSIIIIIII!" The cub called loudly, speeding up her pace a bit. "TSSSSIIIII!"

It was not Tsi that heard the cub's calling voice; instead, a small, white hued ear whirled a-top an equaly snow-hued male's head, and he whinced at the voice, "Oh GOD," he grimaced as he dettatched himself from where he'd been sleeping with both his mother and his twin sister; all three a big bundle of white with tattos here and there. Neither females had stired from their afternoon nap, but the piercing voice had awoken Wingu.

The voice repeated itself, forcing another whince from the young male, and slowly, as he recovered, he casted one last glance to his sleeping mother before scurrying off to figure out whom it was that had such a piercing voice, "So obnoxious," he snorted to himself, ears flat against his head in hopes of not being surprised by another squeal.

He soon enough found the other cub, and a frown crossed his features; granted, he'd heard from his mother of Kaure, but hadn't seen them yet. After all, it was only recently that the cubs had become aware of the outside world and had been allowed to move on their own, "Oi!" he called the female, "Oi, you!"

Palia frowned deeply as the other cub approached. He was not Tsi! She didn't know WHO he was, but she did know that he was not Tsi. "What!" she huffed, looking affronted. "What! Who are YOU?" She eyed him thougtfully. He did LOOK a bit like Tsi, she supposed, and he was white, like she was. She supposed she would give him the benefit of the doubt, then, even though she didn't like people shouting at her.

"Oh, stop the screaming!" the male looked slightly put off by all the yelling, his head having lowered a tad, his ears firmly pressed against his head, "You're gonna wake up momma! And daddy says SHE needs her rest!" he huffed, tossing his head up into the air, the already long locks of his mane shifting about. The young cub talked as if it were OBVIOUS that she was being a nuisense and that this was simply not acceptable, "I'm Wingu Waya!" he proclaimed, flopping himself into a sitting position, placing his paw on his chest, "I am the Wolf's clan next..." he seemed to pause at this as he pondered; he was the next..... what? "Awesome, most incredible lion." So there, he noted mentaly.

After he dropped his paw down, he arched a brow, "And who're YOU? And why're you calling for momma so loudly?" he would've pointed out it was obnoxious, but didn't; he was polite, after all.

Palia did NOT like being told what to do, but she certainly didn't want to wake anyone up. She folded her ears back and scowled at her paws. "Sorrryyyyy." She mumbled. As he introduced himself, she looked up. "Tsi is your mama??" She demanded, incredulous. "I didn't know.. Oh. Wow." She took a moment to register this. "I'm Palia. I was just lookin' for Tsi cos I wanted to meet some other lions besides mother and WALLY." She said the last name with a great deal of distaste, and, ironically, Wally's patented sneer.
PostPosted: Sun Feb 24, 2008 7:44 am

"Yeah?" he looked almost confused; why would it be hard to understand he was his momma's son? After all, he'd been told by everyone that he looked exactly like Tsi herself; it was the vivid image of his dead uncle too, "So what?" he looked confused still, almost as if he weren't exactly sure if she meant to offend him, and thus he stood, turning to press his lithe nose against the other cub's. Wingu himself was just barely larger than normal elas; gift from his father's rogue heritague, he figured idly.

He kept his nose pressed against the other girl's as she spoke, bu then blinked, tilting his head, "Wally's a meany butt," he proclaimed rather bluntly; their aunt wally was ... well, she was unique, that was for sure. Then as he pulled back, he saw the sneer.

That was the point of no return; Wingu dissolved into snickers, "You look just LIKE her when you do that!"

"I just... didn't know." Palia said, looking embarassed. She blinked and squeaked in surprise as he put his nose against hers, but didn't back away. "What are you doing?" She demanded, wondering if this was some kind of weird Ela ritual that Wally and Tsi had neglected to mention. "Oh my god, she *IS*!" Palia exclaimed, her eyes shining with a new appreciation for the other cub. However, she scowled deeply at his suggestion that she resembled Wally in ANY way. "Do NOT!" She argued, making a mental note not to sneer, EVER again.

Again, he looked confused, almost as if he could simply NOT understand how she could not know what he was doing, "I'm being intimidating, of course!" he told her matter-of-factly, his maw wrinkling to show his utter confusion. The confusion dissolved into deep amusement and the male smirked at her, "You do TOO!"

After all, he'd seen Wally sneer so often (mostly when directed at him and his litter - what'd they ever do to the dark lioness?!), that the expresion was almost oficialy something Wingu asociated with her, "S'okay thu; you're white," he said, as if really, that made everything that much better.

"That wasn't intimidating, it was just weird." Palia informed him matter-of-factly. "To be intimidating you gotta, like, make yourself all big and growl and stuff." She looked utterly embarrassed and upset to have done anything Wally-like, even on accident. But then the little male seemed to forgive her, and he offered a welcome change of subject. She decided she liked him, after all. He thought Wally was a dumb head, and he was white, like her! "You're white too!" She said cheerfully, as if returning a compliment.

"Was not!" he countered with a frown, then huffed, "You obviously just don't understand the fine, refined ways of intimidation yet! What with being a girl and all. Not that's your fault," he reached and patted her paw, as if to console her, then snorted, "No you don't! You just gotta know whose boss, and seeing as how I'm CLEARLY smarter, and CLEARLY a boy, I'm the winner, paws down."

After a moment, he waved a paw, as if dismissing the topic then smirked, "Of course I'm white! Mommy says I'm cloud marked!" he puffed his chest out rather proudly even though he had NO idea what this meant. SHE didn't have to know THAT though.

Palia scowled again, considering changing her mind about this boy. "Boys aren't ANY smarter than girls!" she said challengingly. "Anyway, I'm OLDER." She puffed her chest out and stood tall, glaring down at him, though she was only slightly bigger. "I wasn't intimidated when you did the nose thing, anyway!" She assured him. "Not even a little."

"Are too!" he countered again, "Because YOU can't understand intimidation!" he puffed himself out too, his fluffy mane making him look all that much cuter, rather than intimidating, "That's 'cause I'm still YOUNG," he rolled his eyes, as if really, this were SO obvious and he could not understand how ANYONE, even a girl, could somehow miss this fact.

A pause, then the crack of a smirk showed, and he snickered again, "Yah know, you can't look down at me like that, 'cause you're only just barely bigger..."

Palia looked affronted by Wingu's suggestion that she wasn't much bigger, and made every effort to draw herself up to her full height."You don't have to UNDERSTAND intimidation to be intimidated!" she explained, exasperated. She took a few steps forward and pressed her nose to his, as he had done to her moments before. "Look, see? Do you feel intimidated now?"

"Nope!" he chirped, clearly amused, his eyes twinkling as he flopped himself down, "You're not even that much larger; and you're white, and you're a girl," he told her, the smile on his maw not teasing for once, but amused, as if she were now the highlight of his day, "You're a girl," he giggled and then pressed back against her, narrowing his eyes a notch before he opened his maw and nibbled on her nose; he didn't really press hard, just a nibble, a playful one as he pressed forward.

"So what if I'm a girl!" Palia demanded, visibly upset by the whole matter. She had only ever met one other male before, and he had been mean to her, too! Why was being a girl so bad?

But oh, the nose-biting was too much! Her expression changing from sadness to anger, the small lioness growled and launched herself at Wingu, forepaws extended in an attempt to pin him, tiny fangs bared as she tried to latch onto his ear.

Again he looked confused; just barely though. It seemed to damnpen his amusement, but not enough to whipe the smile off his maw, "So nothing; it just means you're a girl, of course!" what else COULD it mean, after all? He didn't think being a girl was BAD, it just meant she wasn't a boy, and thus, diferent, in quite a few ways. His momma was a girl, and he loved her!

That's what he'd been looking for though; the moment the sadness vanished, the small cub felt that fluttering feeling that had unknownly settled at the pit of his stomach, vanish. Refraining himself from laughing, he latched onto her as they rolled on the ground, his arms 'hugging' her slightly wider form as he attempted to reach her neck and ears in turn, his own flicking at her touch.

"Girls are just as good as boys at stuff!" Palia snarled, kicking at him with her hind paws as she nipped at his ear. "Say it! Say girls are just as good as boys!"

"Nope!" he countered as he struggled with her, amusingly enough, quite enjoying her anger; it was aparent in his eyes as he growled and reached to n** at her maw again, his feet trying to keep her at a short distance, "Not true! Cause girls are better at some things and worse at others!" it was what his father had told him; each gender had their things. Females were usualy physicaly weaker in battle and had less stamina, whatever THAT meant, even if there WERE exceptions. Males were usualy not quite as dept at hunting as female, and usualy more brash, his dad had said, "Learn to accept it; s'how life is!!" he told her.

"Nuh uh! I can be just as good as you at things!" Palia growled defensively, rolling around to try to get him pinned underneath her. He was so wiggly! "Stay still, damnit!" she grumbled, once again displaying her vast knowledge of word she probably shouldn't know yet.

Laughter rocked him then as she cursed, "Where'd you pickt hat up from?" he managed between fits of laughter; it was then he was pinned, thanks to the fact he was rendered useless by the snickers and giggles that rang through him.

Even then though, pinned beneath her, he smirked up at her almost knowingly, his head tilting to one side in a cute fashion, "Nope," he told her, "Ain't saying nuthing, 'cause words are words. Gotta SHOW it, not say it, so it's none of my bussiness!" he still looked amused, even with the female towering over him, as if THIS were what he'd been aiming for from a start.

Then, he reached up and attempted to lick her maw, pondering perhaps the action would make her stumble enough to let him get up.

"YOU-" Palia began, frustrated and still feeling angry and hurt that he would declare himself better at something simply by virtue of being a boy. But she was cut off rather abruptly by a strange fighting tactic! She froze, once more feeling the confusion she felt when he'd tried to "intimidate" her the first time. She drew back as if she'd been burned, making a face. "What are you DOING? You're so weird!" She exclaimed, looking visibly ruffled and uncomfortable.

Well! It'd worked! He saved the info, stored it at the back of his mind as he drew himself up, still smiling, horribly amused by the whole situation, "I licked you," he told her matter-of-factly as he brushed himself off of the dust he'd gathered during their little fight, "I wanted you off me, and hey, it worked - points for me."

After a moment, the smile seemed to shrink, his head tilting to one side, and then towards the other, "You know," came Wingu's voice as he wrinkled his maw, his tiny teeth showing, "Being a girl doesn't make anyone any LESS or any wrong. Just makes yah diferent. S'what daddy says. Daddy loves momma, and she's a girl," it made sense in his mind, "Being diferent ain't a bad thing, yah know? There's meany butt girls, like Wally, and there's nice ones, like momma. There's meany butt boys, and there'd good ones. S'no matter."

That was a dirty trick." Palia said, voice muffled slightly as she rubbed at the spot he'd licked with the back of her paw. "So how come you said I was wrong about bein' intimidating just cos I'm a girl?" She demanded, still not ready to give up her anger just yet. "Prolly lots of girls are just as good as boys at being intimidating!"

A snort from the lithe male, that same wrinkling of his maw that seemed to hint at the fact he was still beyond amused, "Got yah offa me, didn't it?" Wingu told her as he tilted his head just so. A pause as he looked up to the sky, "Cause you've not learnt YET. Boys usualy fight, and girls usualy hunt. Boys need to learn to hunt, girls need to learn to fight; but you're doing pretty well!" he proclaimed as he stood, a bounce in his step, "Prolly! There's exceptions, s'why I said you can't just get the words outta me; gotta prove it. Dare yah to!"

"I pinned you!" Palia pointed out. "That means I'm better at fighting thatn you, or just as good, and you had to resort to.." she paused, looking uncomfortable again. "Being SNEAKY. Being sneaky isn't part of fighting, so it doesn't count." This was perfectly logical to Palia. "Besides, hunting is just like fighting, only.. you fight prey. Like, if you were huntin', umm, an antelope, then you'd have to beat it in a fight cos it doesn't want to get eaten, you have to beat it first." She nodded knowingly.
PostPosted: Sun Feb 24, 2008 8:11 am

"I LET you," he claimed with a smile, "'Cause I laughed myself silly, and I'm younger. S'all," he was, of course, right in a way, "And 'sides! /I/ got yah off, didn't I?" another knowing smirk as he took a step closer, "S'the results that counts in the end, ain't it? And the result is I won."

A pause as he concidered her words, then looked as if he were pondering before he wrinkled his nose, "Nuh-uh. Momma's a great huntress, but she can't fight nearly as well as Dad can," so there, he thought with a nod of his head, "Prey dun have claws or fangs, it's diferent than that, sides, being sneaky can save yer hide... in the end, it's about winning the fight, and if being sneaky, which, by the way, licking IS NOT, 'cause your momma gives you baths and THAT is not sneaky, then hey."

"You didn't win, you just got away!" Palia said challengingly. "Anyway, just cos your mom isn't as good as your dad doesn't mean ALL boys and girls are like that." She rolled her eyes. "Everyone's different." She gave him a cold look as he took a step closer. "Yeah, but you're NOT my mama, and that wasn't a bath. It was sneaky and cheating and not fighting!"

"That constitutes a win in my book; Get away to fight another day!" he seemed obviously convinced of his ... strangely mixed morals, yet at the same time, it was clearly obvious he meant no real harm.

He rolled his eyes just like she did, "Oi, nature designed genders like THAT for a reason; s'not bad, or are you DEAF? I also said there's exceptions, but it's the way things are MEANT to be. Boys have manes because they FIGHT. The manes keep our necks protected. Girls don't have them so they don't get in the way of their hunting," another roll of his eyes, as if all this were so clearly obvious, "You don't even know THAT?" then the smirk was back and another step was taken forward, a narrowing of his eyes indicating he was amused again, "If you call it cheating, you clearly have no idea what you're talkin' 'bout, and so, my point is proved."

"Well, I got away too, so that means I WON, too!" Palia said, sticking her tongue out at him. She responded to his speech about genders with a low growl of frustration. "I'm not stupid and I'm not deaf, I just think you're WRONG, and you're mean." She said, glaring daggers at him. "I'm older than you, so I know more about the world, okay? And quit getting so CLOSE to me!" She added, close to tears in frustration. There was no reasoning with this cub!

"Dude," he rolled his eyes, "I win 'cause /I/ managed to get you away from ME. If you'd managed to stay on me even AFTER the lick then you'd have won. but yah didn't. Get the concept straight, eh?" as she stuck her tongue at him, his own poked out and licked his maw, a reflex action before he blinked and focused his attention back on her flashing eyes.

"Hardly!" he snorted, "You might he older, but it's obvious yeh dunno much if you're grouping girls and boys alike! When there's a war, boys fight it, and protect the girls 'cause they're the mommas." he nodded again, his father had come from a highly military pride, after all.

A pause as she asked him to no get so close and again... he was confused, "Why the hell not?" he asked, almost ofended, yet not quite, "S'not like imma eat yah!" he was unaware she was close to tears, but had he known... well, he'd have shown a diferent facet of his personality.

"I don't want to be a mommy, I like to fight, I should be able to do whatever I want!" Palia exclaimed, her voice harsh as a few tears of frustration and rage rolled down her cheeks. "Who cares if I'm a girl! I don't need anyone protecting me!" She stopped shouting to catch her breath, wiping the tears away furiously with the back of her paw. Stupid boy, getting her all worked up. She glared at him again, and purposefully took another step back. "Because I don't LIKE it!" she answered, hiccuping as the effort to hold back her angry tears overwhelmed her. "Go away!"

Wingu opened his mouth, no doubt to utter something equaly obnoxious as his earlier claims, but at the sight of tears, his maw snapped shut. He actualy reeled a step back, blinking in shock. For a moment, he looked panicked for some unknown reason, his eyes snapping from Palia, to his left, and then back, and towards his right, as if pondering an escape route.

Her yells, however, kept him rooted to the spot, and after a long, awkward moment, he frowned, his ears lowering, rather than flatened back against his skull; a clear sign he was feeling uncomfortable, "Oi..." a pause and he drew nearer despite her warning, "Oi, stop that."

"I said go AWAY!" Palia repeated, taking another step back as he stepped forward. She glared, angry at him, and angry at herself for letting him get to her. She hiccuped. "I said I don't like it! And don't tell me what to do!" She added, and as she went to take another step back, her hindmost paw hit a tree root, and she lost her balance, collapsing in a heap and shaking with fury and the effort of holding her tears back. It wasn't fair! Why did she have to look so weak in front of him? It would just make him think he was RIGHT!

Again, he seemed torn between doing what she asked, and staying where he was. After a moment of mental debate though, he frowned deeper, his maw becoming a grim, thin line and he took another step forward, another and another. His mother had once asked him what it was he most hated; he now had an answer to that question, though he refrained from voicing this outloud, "Yah know, crying's not gonna help you... and it's not gonna change anything," his voice was softer, his gaze on the floor, as if he suddenly felt guilty for being the obvious cause of these tears.

Another step and then... she tumbled back; his eyes snapped back to her form and he scurried to reach her side, his head lowering to the ground where he frowned, "I'm just saying..." he mumbled, "And if you don't want me to tell you what to do, you shouldn't tell ME what to do either; I dun wanna go, not now," he seemed awkwardly panicked still, unable to understand what he had to do to make it all STOP. Couldn't she go back to rolling and fighting with him?!

Palia hiccuped again, and hunched over, refusing to meet his eyes. "I'm not crying!" She insisted, rubbing at her eyes with the back of her paw. Most of her anger was gone, she was just embarrassed and upset now, and she wanted nothing more than to be back with her mother and Wally. She wished she'd never met this boy! "Fine." She said, pinning her ears back and swallowing an ashamed sob. "Fine, do whatever you want." She glared at the ground. Why couldn't she stop crying?!
PostPosted: Sun Feb 24, 2008 9:29 am

A pause as he pondered how to approach the obviously... awkward subject, "Uhm," a blink, "Okay then; you're not crying. So the tears are just... for show," Riiiiiight, his mind said with a huff, though amusingly enough, he was tactful enough to not voice it.

Looking away from her as she sniffled still and attempted to drown back her tears. Gulping down the lump in his throat, he swallowed both his pride and ... whatever it was that lump was formed of, then, he flopped down beside her and lifted a paw, helping her brush her tears away. A sigh followed, "Fine, M'sorry... please don't cry?"

"I'm NOT crying, I'm not, I'm just-" Hiccup. "I was just..." She took a deep breath and made one last snuffle as she finally managed to stop the flow of tears. She looked startled as he moved towards her, and bristled slightly, though she did allow him to wipe away the remaining tears. "Fine." She agreed, hoping to put the subject of crying behind them. "Don't tell anyone." She added. It was a demand, but there was a hint of pleading in her voice. "I'm not weak, you know." She said finally, still avoiding looking at him. "I'm not."

"You're not, you're not," he said as he brushed off the last few tears, "Then just... stop NOT crying too, kay?" sattisfied the tears were gone, he let out another sigh, his eyes closing. His voice had been soft, the kind he'd have used to whisper to his mother on a sleepless night, "I won't," there was no need for her to plead with him, aparently, for as he opened his eyes, he looked away, still by her side on the floor, but no longer managing eye contact, "You're not," he agreed.

"Good." Palia said, her voice still somewhat wet-sounding from the tears. She looked at him sideways. "You don't have to just say it to make me feel better, I don't need anyone to protect me." She was quick to let him know. "Okay? I can take care of myself!" She wasn't sure how to act now; still embarrassed by her little breakdown, but not quite able to go back to being her usual antagonistic self.

"Good," he echoed her voice, finally looking up so he could focuss his gaze on hers, his misty,g rey eyes, blinking away the concern he'd felt, so that she may not read it off his features. The ghost of a smile haunted at the corner of his maw, but there was no force behind it, and it didn't reach his eyes, "If it makes yeh feel all better I did that for entirely selfish reasons, nothing to do with protecting you... wouldn't dream of it," his voice was still not forceful, and he squirmed, obviously uncomfortable with the notion he'd managed to reduce her to tears; he'd have given anything to go back to the rough and tumble from before, "You're..." he paused, frowned and looked away, an ear flickering, "Okay," he murmured, "For a girl, I guess."

Palia grinned, baring her tiny fangs at Wingu and smiling a watery smile. "Good, cos I wouldn't let you!" She boasted, obviously regaining some composure. She paused, and frowned at his words. Okay? For a girl? She very nearly snapped at him again, but held herself back. After all, this was the closest he'd gotten to being nice, and she didn't want to lose control of herself again. "I'm AWESOME for a girl." She corrected him haughtily, flicking her tail at him with a playful grin.

A slight smirk reapeared, even as his tail flicked and he kept looking away, "We'll see 'bout that; Time'll tell," he looked over his shoulder just barely, so she could see that this time, he was teasing her back, taunting her just so. Obviously happy that she no longer looked like she was about to crawl under a rock.

He didn't want that. He had no idea why, but he didn't.

"Wouldn't let you either," he murmured, mostly to himself, though it was posible she might've heard; he did not like the idea of boasting he'd made a girl cry. It didn't sound right, "Feelin' better?"

"What, wouldn't let me protect you?" She asked, lifting her eyebrows. "That doesn't make sense!" She stood and shook herself off, a bit dusty from tripping over the root. "I'm fine." She said dismissively, sticking her tongue out at him again. "I'm bored. Let's go find some bugs, or something."

"Nothing!" he blinked, surprised she'd heard, but obviously not wishing to elaborate on his thoughts. Then, swiftly, he was on his feet, following her, and the smirk was back, "No!" he countered as he wrinkled his maw, leaning in to snap his jaws over her tail, aiming to grab it and give it a light tug, "Let's go find some mud! I wanna do a mud fight!" and this said, he jumped and rushed off in a certain direction, slowing down to see if she'd join him, "Com'on!"

"Heeey!" Palia exclaimed, whirling around as he tugged her tail, snapping at him playfully. "But I like bugs!" She protested, already scampering after him. "We could find bugs IN mud!" She shouted helpfully, racing past him and grinning happily, looking forward to finally playing with someone her own age.
