A chocolate and white pelted lioness panted, not all together unsure of what this new pain was, but unsure of what exactly it meant for her. Her bulging belly carried new life into the pride, the first new cub since the great war dwindled their numbers. She feared horrible repercussions for conceiving without having a mate, but thus far no one approached her.
She quickened her pace looking for the pride's priestess who oversaw the births, Mitsuki, the chocolate lioness was sure that it had been sometime since the female had had a job to do. Nerit's thoughts were scattered and sporadic because every time she would focus in on something this new pain would draw her away from them. Between her heavy middle and the pains that were overcoming her Nerit was sure she would not find the lioness in time for the birth.

((How old is Nerit luff? :3 Young enough that Mitsuki might have been there for her birth (whether as a young adult or as an adol apprentice)? Or about the same age/grew up together?))
-Normally she slept so little, the dutiful priestess that she was, always watching, always learning. But her body continued to ache with weariness in the couple of days in which she'd finally found her king again, and settled into their new home. A general fatigue touched her sense dragging her in and out of naps both under the sun and blessed moon. She'd only just arose a few moments before from one of these naps when her attention swayed softly about.
Grasses rustled, a breath heavy and panting drawing nearer. She could smell fear, the subtle scent of blood to come. It could be a prey animal, could it not? And yet the scent seemed more subtle, dragging forth memories of things that Mitsuki hadn't been witness to for months. A birthing? Was it that?-
"Hello?" -She called out mildly, trying to determine which of her guesses was the correct one, but already her paws began to drag her in direction of the noise. Pressing through the grasses a familar figure touched her sight, with a less than familar bulging belly. A smile drew across Mitsuki's maw before she could say anything, a swelling of excitement, pride, and joy touching her as she gazed at the young mother who was so close to bringing new life into the world.-
"You shouldn't be running about so much Nerit! Let me find you someplace comfortable to lay down and rest." -It was an authoritative statement with an obvious bit of fuss, but the tone held nothing but tenderness as she awaited word from the mother. Slave, queen, old blood, new blood, they were all treated the same by this preistess. Nothing of rank mattered in a moment like this, in an occassion so joyous. Mothers were to be coddled and cared for in the times around birthing, kept safe and kept comfortable. It was a job she cherished and strove to complete with every fiber of her being. And though it had been months since last she'd done it, she quickly and instinctively fell back into pace with her responsibilities.-

(I'm not sure how old Mitsuki is, I know that she and Unyezi grew up together/were born around the same time I'd say. Is Mitsuki older/younger? XD Note for Ecavi: "t note for Nerit/Mitsuki ages: Unyezi and anyone his age are young adult XD They were adol during the war")
The chocolate lioness had been running around for most of the pregnancy, and did not see this as a time to stop doing just that. Stopping Nerit caught her breath in huge gulps of air, as if she were drinking it in. Finally she spoke, "I just..need-ed you." she panted it out slowly her emerald eyes glossy with the pain in her abdomen.
At first the mother sat, and then laid her body down, years of training drilling the idea of obeying a direct order, no matter how kind it seemed she listened. Wincing she looked up at Mitsuki, "are all births painful?" She was young and had never given birth before. Her days of silence during the travel were over and her curiosity was again peaked, even the odd pains could not keep her silent. As soon as the pain came in disappeared if only for a moment, she let out a sigh and allowed her panting to slow.

((Whee, thanks Cavi biggrin ))
"Well I'm here now. It's a good thing you were able to wait though, two or three days earlier and you might have missed me." -It was a soft musing, lost mostly in her own thoughts as she settled herself near the other lioness inspecting her gently. On one occassion of apprecticeship she recalled waiting with the mother and midwife for almost an entire day. Nerit seemed much further along however, and she doubted the wait would be long at all. Inspecting her with an intensity that might make a stranger flush with uncertainty she added mildly.- "Lay whichever way you feel most comfortable. It's alright to move and roll about if instinct beckons you too. It almost seems to make certain cubs come faster."
-Even without the question, the brown and pink lioness would have dispensed tidbits of knowledge, but as the questions themselves perked up she slowed softly, answering each gently.- "Unfortunately so.. It's one of the prices one must pay for new life. But soon enough it will be over." -It was strange, to give advice and opinions on things she'd never experienced herself. But even despite that, having witnessed so many of them throughout her short life she did have more experience then anyone else in the slowly rebuilding pride. So perhaps that was good enough.-
"There are some plants.. that can help dull the pain.. but it isn't by very much, and often they make you rather sleepy. So you risk not getting to spend many of your first moments with your young, the choice is up to you though." -Eyes gazing upwards, finally bringing her attention to the ever important issue of the Great Lion, she smiled once more with realization of the day. These cubs that came today would be like her, perhaps even, one might find themselves studying under her one day. It didn't seem so long ago that they were all cubs themselves, but then the cycles of life ran as quickly as the cycles of the moon didn't they?-

(I find birthing rps so awkward, but I wanted the whole M'J experience! XD I've actually never played the female. XD P.S. from Cavi: "TELL IRIS "YW" 8'D *reading Nerit birth*")
Nerit let out a sigh of relief that was short lived as another wave of pain came over her. She did not like the idea of not seeing her young the moment they came, seeing them alive and well, thriving. She wondered if they would look like her red and yellow lover, or if they would look just like her. She secretly hoped they would not get her bulky build, they did not need it in the class they were bound to be. She panted and turned her body, laying half on her side trying to keep pressure off of her bulging abdomen.
She blushed nervously as Mitsuki came near her in a way she was not accustomed to, she stayed still though allowing the other brown female to do her job "I want to see them as they come," she murmured and glance towards her for some sort of wisdom, something to make them come now.
Her midsection was large for carrying just the one cub, misleading the chocolate lioness into thinking there would be many, but then again she had not seen many cubs, she was so young when they were born and as they grew she obviously grew. Nerit knew how to deal with them, had a tone she used often when meeting new people that was much like her tone and mannerisms towards cubs, they were who she felt she could trust.

((Sorry sweetie, brain is good enough now we should be able to finish it in a couple days. >w< ))
-Nodding with soft reassurance at Nerit's decision she fell into silence, watching her with soft interest as she waited out the inevitable with the young mother. She helped as necessary, voice falling in a soft hush, and even once her tongue lapped out to gently sooth the warm forehead of the mother in a hint of familiarity that was far different from usual.
------------------------------
And yet when all was done any fears or worries that might have touched the midwife had dissappeared. Things had proceeded safely under the blessing of the moon, and one new little life had been added to the pride. A little girl, and a high ranking one at that.-
-She was surprised that it was only one, but it only reassurted her conviction to grow better at her task. It wasn't a concern that she let forth to Nerit.-
"What is her name?" -Was the soft purr that finally slipped from Mitsuki as she tended both mother and child now, eyeing the new markings with tender curiousity. It had been a rogue male, not one she knew of from childhood.-

The chocolate lioness was reassured time and time again by this lioness, a goddess in the young mother's eyes who coaxed her through the pain and shared the same excitement. The single birth did not surprise her in the least, she had no litter mates, and her father said that there had been only one other born from him, a single birth. In Nerit's pain and confusion she had little time to think, the cub looked nothing like her and little like Riko. She looked like a fellow slave, what would be said..?
"Name?" She questioned a glazed look on her face and then she spoke again, "Oh yes, a name....Indu." She said finally and fell silent. Her heart skipping a beat as the squirming thing took hold of a n****e.
"Mitsuki, thank you..a new life in an old pride, and high born too, the great lion shines upon her, don't you think?" she huffed a slight pant, the pain had passed as suddenly as it had come and now was she was left with the tired body of labor.
The mewling ball of yellow and blue teetered uneasily sliding it her belly across the grass, using her instincts to search for a supply of warmth and food. Coming upon the fluffy mass that she would soon find out was her mother she searched blindly for a n****e, success, beginning to suck and ignoring the voices around her, those would be for another time, for now she was ravenously hungry.

"Indu.." -She repeated the name lightly, committing it to memory along with her place in the pride. Sini would have to meet the child at some point as well of course, but she was sure it would occur by coincidence, as close as everyone was sticking these days. But if not, she'd let her know herself.
Mitsuki was pondering regretfully on the fact that Nerit had been forced to give birth out here in the middle of everything instead of in the comfort of a den, when she saw that well earned weariness touch her face. And she'd been about to speak when the young mother's words rose instead.- "Oh most definately." -She smiled tenderly.- "You should be very proud."
-Knowing the cub would protest with any movement for now, she settled in for the long haul, offering mildly.- "If you're tired and would like to nap, I don't mind watching over the two of you for awhile."

Her pride and her exhaustion mingled together causing a mild euphoric effect, she had done something amazing, in the middle of nowhere, someplace not quite home yet, and survived, and on top of all that her little daughter survived as well. Contented with the feel of Indu pulling and nuzzling into her she wearily looked up at Mitsuki, "If you don't mind, once I've rested a bit, sh- Indu and I will make our way back to my den." she closed her heavy lids and looked back up at Mitsuki once more before finally closing her eyes and falling into a light sleep, easily woken.
Newly called Indu, the little yellow and blue cub took no notice of the world around her blind, and happily contented with a source of food, she too wanted to take a nap, without a sound she drifted off, still clinging to her mother.

-Mitsuki nodded simply, silently to the lioness' words, shifting to seat herself more comfortably next to the pair. Her tail wrapped around her gently entire poise taking on something lazy and soft. It was not that she couldn't protect the two should something come about, but rather she doubted they'd be bothered. Eyes filtering back and forth between the young wriggling one and their surroundings she held silently and firmly as the new mother napped.
Soon enough they'd be gone, off to rest in their own home once more. For now though, Mitsuki savored in the sensation of usefulness, and majesty of the moon's blessings at this joyous occassion.-
