Nixon High School
[Intercity Zone]

Founded in 1970, and named after the former president Richard Nixon. The school started off well enough, but after Nixon got impeached funding stopped coming. Eventually it got to the point where anyone who could afford to send their kids elsewhere, did. Now, the school doesn't have enough teachers and enough money, and is in a sad state of disrepair.

Rules
[Yes, it's in a paragraph]

Usual guild rules apply here, and I'm just going to go over a few things, for the sake of refreshing. No *~ things for movement, you must have a proper sentence. Normally, I hate when people set a min. sentence limit, but I think I am going too, just for the heck of it. Three sentences minimum. Spell correctly, PM me profiles with the subject line of popcorn. Normal gaia rules apply in the romance department as well. Use third person narration and OOC, but try to keep it in the OOC THREAD. This is highschool, with cliques and drama and teenagers, so there WILL be drama, but please don't make it over the top. Also, as a rule of thumb, Nixons and Richards generally dislike eachother very much, for no special reason except most of them hate the others because of their money status. However, there will be those FEW who don't care. Put a heart in your profile to show you've read this. Oh, and I want real people pictures, No Anime ! No godmodding, be nice, and have fun !

Enjoy,
-IR

Nixons !

On behalf of C.E. Richards School, we are forced to by the city board please to offer all students from Nixon High School Scholarships to our beloved school. It was brought to our attention that your school was shut down by the city health inspector. We are happy to continue your education until such time as your school is re-opened.

--Signed,
Mr. D. Makovich
Head of Admissions

What you don't know! [and will find out!]

All the students, being 'poor' will be looked down upon by teachers and students alike.
Mr. D. Makovich is looking to pay off the parents of students some way, so they won't come to Richards.
The school plans to kick out every Nixon student by the end of the year, whether by expelling for small infractions, or failing the students.

That is, unless the Nixon kids can change their mind.

[That won't happen all at once, or on the first day people! It is going to take awhile for the people to adjust!!]

This is not a boarding school, the students go home at the end of the day.
This roleplay starts at the beginning of the second semester, as the school didn't let them in until then.
Your profile doesn't have to be near as long as mine.

Richards ;;

Elizabeth 'Liz' Willower
Sex: female
Age: 16
Class: Richard
Job: Cashier at Walmart

Physical Description: Long normally spiked black hair, big blue eyes and usually dark makeup. Curvy and a little on the short side.
Personality: Liz doesn't say much when you first meet her but she's really a good person. When she opens up, she's wild. She can be in your face when you make her angry, and she's very defensive.
History: Her parents had always gotten her what she wanted, but she was never happy. She never really had 'friends' and never really had enemies. She is kind of excited to have people from another school come to hers so she can meet and make new friends.

Family: A mother[Byron] and father[Edmund]
Likes: music, ducks, pink, and green
Dislikes: loud people, mean people

Played By: JellehBelleh

[ Faraday ]
Faraday Rahl

Sex: Female
Age: Seventeen
Class: Richards Kid
Job: Receptionist at a Law Firm [weekends]
Physical Description: Faraday stands at a grand height of five-foot-five. Her long black hair with brown streaks reaches the backs of her thighs; it’s very troublesome [she loves it anyways] so it’s usually in a braid. Her complexion is dark, as she is of Mexican blood [though not fully], but her eyes are green [from her Irish mother]. She has the general body shape of the average near-adult, but she is not fit at all. Sure, she can handle stairs that go up five floors, or swimming slowly, but put her in a PE uniform and any sort of sport equipment in her hands and someone is bound to get hurt.
Personality: Faraday is very aggressive and likes to be the leader. She absolutely hates being wrong [too proud for her own good], and tends to be very spiteful. Her tongue is sharp, and her words sarcastic. Due to her nature, she has few friends. However, Faraday relents on people whom she is close to or respects. That doesn’t mean she isn’t sassy; she is. But not as much as she would be to, say… a Nixon.
History: Faraday grew up in a large house, the only child of her parents [Byrd and Lyra Rahl]. Her father worked all day and her mother stayed home to care for Faraday. Faraday was home schooled until she was high-school age. When she first entered Richards, she was lost and confused, and so learned to defend herself with a bad attitude. She isn’t particularly fond of shopping [even though her parents are obviously rich], but doesn’t mind receiving new clothes or browsing the library or Borders.
Family: Byrd Rahl [father - 38], Lyra Rahl [mother – 39]
Likes: Books, TV, swimming, photography [black and white], movies
Dislikes: Nixons, PE, soda, heat

Nixons ;;

Charlene 'Charlie' Lemmon
Sex: Female
Age: Fifteen
Class: Nixons
Job: Borders store clerk

Physical Description: Charlie stands about five foot three, a nice average height that isn't too short or too tall. She has a smooth, oval shaped face, thin, with nice cheekbones. Her skin is extremely pale, only highlighting her deep blue eyes. Well, that and all the eyeliner she wears. Her hair was originally a dirty blond, but she bleached the top layer, and then dyed the bottom layer bubble-gum pink, and cut it short, about chin length, with lots of shorter layers. Her bangs manage to frame her face nicely without getting in the way of her eyes, which she does so love to show off with lots of brightly coloured eyeshadow. Her nose is delicate, with a slight bump, and it's upturned at the end, giving her a look of haughty indifference. She has a sensuous mouth with full lips that she likes to put red lipstick on. Her teeth are white and straight, courtesy of braces back when her family had money.

Charlie is slender, always has been naturally, and she loves it. As she grew, for awhile she was disproportionate, but now all limbs are a good length. She's very active, loves to run, while listening to her favorite musics. She isn't stylish in the sense that she wears what the latest stars wear, she's stylish in what she loves to wear, cute little graphic tees and tanks with jeans and flats or converses. She loves to smile.

Personality: Charlie was brought up to be nice. This was back when her family had money, and everyone was happy. Even though this all changed, her basic instinct to be nice hasn't. She might be rude at first, but that's just her self-defense mechanism. She's not real subtle, and she'll say right out to your face what she thinks of you, just because she has no patience for drama in any way shape or form. She's good at persuading people to do things or changing their mind, and making them think it was their idea in the first place. Charlie makes friends easily, and is loyal to all. If her friends have a problem with each other, it's their business, and she firmly stays out of it. She's not self conscious and never embarrassed, but she does question her decisions over and over, and replays when something big happens, trying to see if she could have handled it differently, better. She is somewhat clumsy, and will rarely participate in a fight.

Fear and anger are two emotions she knows well-and wishes she didn't. Anger has become a main household feeling for her, as her parents are always mad at each other. Despite that, she has always been some what slow to anger. Fear is something she has for her siblings, that and worry, about their education and health. She is terrified they are going to go down the wrong path someday because their family fell to pieces. When she is truly angry, her face goes blank, like she's wearing a mask. That said, she can accomplish almost anything when she puts her mind to it.

History: Charlene Makenzie Lemmon was born one cold autumn evening, November twelfth. She was the first child born to Louise Woods and Jack Lemmon. They were a happy family then, Jack having just got a new job in the city, and Louise having just quit her nanny job to take care of her own child. For a few years, everything was perfect, Charlie learned how to talk, walk, read, and her parents stopped fearing that she would be autistic, like all the children they heard about on the news. She was a happy child, Always wanting to play and touch things. She went to a Montessori Preschool, and her brother Paul was born. She loved the new baby, especially loved touching it and playing dress up with baby Paul. Her father got promoted, and they moved again. Anna was born, and Charlie began school at Nixon elementary, which wasn't bad in the way of funding and teachers, and was a really nice school. Charlie was ahead because of her other school, and already knew how to read, which became a big passion of hers later on in life.

She went up the ranks to Middle school, which was worse off than the elementary schools. The teachers were underpaid, and couldn't be bothered to correct bad behaviour. Her sister and brother were doing fine in elementary, so her parents didn't understand why she was doing poorly in Middle School. It was around the end of sixth grade that her father's company went bankrupt, because of some money laundering scandal. He was out of a job, and her mother, not having worked in ten years was no help either. Sounds of shouting became commonplace in their house, and Charlie took her siblings outside as much as possible. She became stressed, and a little depressed in seventh grade because she was certain that her parents were going to divorce. They didn't. She tried smoking because she heard it would calm the nerves. It didn't, but she got addicted. She took to coming home late and leaving early so she wouldn't have to face her parents, but by eight grade, her father had a part time job that lasted late into the night, meaning her house was quiet again. Her mother having nothing to distract her, noticed Charlie's late comings and goings and put and end to them. Charlie realized she needed to get a grip on her life, and did the whole quit-smoking thing, and became better spiritually and mentally. She was determined to never get depressed like that again, it was a horrible feeling.

High school came, and it was even worse than the Middle School. Her classes had something like forty students in it, and no electives. She found out that her fathers job actually ended at eight, and then he'd go and get soused. She almost wished her parents would just divorce, as the shouting started again. So she got a job, and she supports herself, buying her own clothes and food, and school supplies. She also takes Anna out once in awhile, and buys her much-needed clothes as well. She was actually the person who found the first rat nest. There was a crack in the girl's bathroom wall, and she looked through it to see nearly thirty red eyes staring back. Usually very calm, she screamed loudly, and brought people running. It was about that time people started whispering of a health inspector coming to visit. Charlie began noticing just how run down the place truly was. Only three toilets worked, and two sinks, in the three girls' bathrooms the place had. Nearly every window had at least a chip, if not a crack, or if not shattered completely. Bats had taken residence in the second floor, and the food often made people sick, and the portions were tiny. When the school was closed, she was happy because it meant she got to work full time until they could find another one, and thus, she would make more money. When she learned she was going to Richards, she became very apprehensive, and wondered if anyone else would be going as well. She hadn't talked to many of her good friends since the school closed, not having a cell phone to talk on.

Gwendolynn "Lynn" Terrson
Sex: Female
Age: Fifteen
Class: Nixon's
Job: A Waitress at the Callie's restaurant

Physical Description: The first thing most people notice about Gwendolynn is her pair of striking, blue-green eyes. She is very petite, standing at 4'11''. She has fair skin and long eyelashes, and has a pretty smile. Her dark brown hair has natural highlights of blonde and varying shades of lighter brown and red, but she never dyes her hair. Gwen's hair is layered out in long, cascading layers, and the longest length extends to the middle of her back. She had never liked short hair, on herself at least. Gwen doesn't have any bangs, but used to. She grew them out, and at the moment, the grown-out bangs frame her face. (The length is at her chin). Gwen has a slender frame, but she is not really 'skinny' like a model. She is just of an average, slim frame. Her fingers are slender and elegant, what one may call 'musical fingers.' Her feet are long and skinny, and she wears a women's shoe size 8.

Gwen doesn't really like 'standing out,' and never wears make-up. The closest she's gone to make-up is lip balm. And that doesn't really count. She dresses usually in neutral tones of colors: black, grey, white, and a few colorful outfits here and there. She usually wears blue jeans, of a dark indigo color, and doesn't really wear the lighter variety of denim. Her long tresses are usually either loose, or tied in a side ponytail. She sometimes wears a headband, too. Gwen has a favorite black sweater that she really likes, and also a burgundy hooded sweatshirt. For shoes, Gwen has never worn heels before, and usually just wears running sneakers.

Personality: Gwendolynn's personality isn't really a 'split' personality, but she definitely has different sides to her. Her mood affects her personality. If she is in a good, happy (maybe even hyper) mood, she can be talkative, rather bubbly, and a generally happy-go-lucky girl. But, if she is sad, or depressed, she is quiet, shy, and basically a grey cloud on a sunny day. When Gwen is mad, angry, or just simply moody, Gwen keeps her emotions to herself and acts the same way as when she is sad or depressed. She herself does not really realize how she acts in the eyes of others, and thinks she has one set personality type. Gwen believes that she is a generally nice, quiet, and sweet person. She is nice and sweet, but to others, her quietness/chattiness depends on her mood.

History: Gwendolynn was born in a cool, breezy, but sunny, spring morning on May thirteenth. She was born with dark brown hair, almost black, and as she grew older, her hair's hues were altered to include various highlights. She was walking by her early toddler years, and her brother was born to the family by the time when she was two years old. Gwen and her younger brother got along well from the start. The two of them, at their young ages, played together, and they would read books together. Once they both got into grade school, Gwen would always be the first to help out her brother with homework, and study skills. She made a great tutor! She and her brother had similar interests - they both liked to read, enjoyed anime and manga, and had a common love for sweets, candy, cakes, and cookies...and other sweet foods like ice cream and strawberries. The two of them also disliked sports, and were both always made fun of at school. The only person Gwen would tell about being bullied was her brother, and vice versa. They had a very strong bond.

Gwendolynn's parents were the typical parents: overprotective of their children, strict, but kind at the same time, and always putting their children first. They taught Gwen and Jason good manners, and right from wrong, at a young age. They are both very proper, some would say prim, and would never use any bad words, steal, or any other shameful actions. Both of them would also never lied. If they tried, they would probably be very bad at it.

Gwendolynn is very smart, and has always gotten straight A+s in her life. A lot of her classmates in elementary and middle school would call her a teacher's pet, but she took that as a compliment. Many teachers were usually charmed by her politeness and eagerness towards learning, along with her intellectual abilities. She wasn't a genius, but many fellow students called her that. She was simply a smart girl.

Family: Mother - Sandra, Father - Alan, Younger Brother - Jason (13)
Likes: books, anime, sweets, sketching, music, sunny days, summer, wild animals (particularly carnivores or reptiles)
Dislikes: some pets (she holds a fear of some of them), rainy days, winter, bullies, make-up, pop quizzes, sports

Charlie || F!R$T DAY 0F SK00L
User Image ...
Charlie's alarm went off for the first time in nearly a month. Sounds of 'today's best hits' filled her cramped bedroom. Blearily, she opened one eye and slapped her hand to her head and brushed her wild pink hair from her face. She hit snooze and rolled over to go back to bed. Stupid alarm clock. Why did it go off today? She wondered sleepily, a fog still covering the common sense part of her brain.

"Charlie? I heard your alarm. Are you up yet?" A voice cut through her sleepily haze. Loudly.

She mumbled something incomprehensible and felt the covers yanked off of her. She semi-shrieked and grasped for them again.
"Charlene Lemmon, get your lazy a** out of bed this instant! Or did you forget you had school today?"

"Shuze clused," she muttered, licking her lips to rid herself of the night-time coating that seemed to fuzz her mouth.

"Charlie!" the woman shrieked, and Charlie fell out of bed. She opened her eyes all the way for the first time and then groaned as sun hit them, and pins and needles broke out. She stood, with the assistance of her mother, and groaned as she got dizzy for a moment. Then her thoughts cleared, and with a shriek of her own she remembered that she was going to be attending C.E. Richards School for the Smart, Rich, and Snobby. Okay, well she had added the last part herself, but it fit. Idly she wondered which of her classmates would actually be attending. She was only going because her mother wanted her to get the 'best education possible,' even though she had overheard someone trying to pay her father off to send her somewhere else.

She ran her fingers through her short hair as she looked around her room for the stuff she had laid out the night before. Unfortunately for her, her fuzzball of a cat Apollo [ironically named because she was small, harmless, and adorable] had laid all over it, and there was cat hair everywhere. When she looked for her little rascal, she found her filling the space on her pillow that her head had recently vacated. Her mother was glaring at her, so she found it prudent to move to the bathroom, which was filled with her and her two siblings crap. She pulled a brush through her hair, used some mousse to give it volume, and brushed her teeth, fighting for space at the sink. She rinsed, spit, and went back in her bedroom to try and find some new clothes. Pulling open a drawer, she grabbed a pair of skinny jeans, a cute graphic tee she got from a salvation army bin, and then dressed quickly. Her backpack was in the corner, a messenger bag, orange and grey, with tons of buttons on it. It was dusty, not being used since her other school had been closed down because of the rats and bats. She ran downstairs, grabbed some toast from her little brother when he wasn't looking, slipped on a pair of beat up neon pink converses and went out the door. She was halfway down the block on her bike, toast in mouth, when her little sister came shooting out the door, waving goodbye manically. She shook her head, Anna had always been the adorably crazy one in the family. She got to the school sooner than she would have liked, and the first thing she noticed were all the cars. Everyone had one, it seemed, or they were getting dropped off in them. And they weren't the whatever-teenagers-could afford type cars, no, these were nice like my-rich-parents-bought-me-for-sweet-sixteen. Jealousy rose for a second, and then Charlie laughed it off. She locked up her bike, and joined the line for second semester schedules. Richards hadn't let any Nixon's come until the start of the new semester. She was already attracting more stares than she would have liked, and she saw the whispering going on. Blandly, she looked them all in the eye and desperately hoped to see someone she recognized from Nixon.

Gwendolynn was always an early riser. She never needed an alarm clock in her life, and never woke up later than 6:30 am. Ever. Even on weekends and holidays. Anyhow, at 6 am sharp, Gwendolynn sat up in bed, her eyelids flickering open. Even though she had just woken up, her eyes were awake, lustrous, and alert as ever. She slipped out of bed, made her bed hastily, and sighed to herself, "The first day of my new school.... It's the first day of school..." She went down the hallways to the bathroom, and washed her face quickly, and toweling it dry just as quick. She brushed her teeth, and rinsed, and then brushed her long, brown hair. Her thick hair was shockingly easy to manage; all she needed to do was a few quick, momentous strokes, and she was good to go. She ran back into her bedroom, shut her door, and decided to choose an outfit. She honestly didn't care what to wear for the first day of school, or anyday, unlike other girls her age who usually pondered over these matters.

Gwendolynn chose her favorite black sweater, and a random black tee shirt. She slipped the tee shirt on first, and then her sweater. Then, she grabbed a pair of indigo blue jeans from her wardrobe, which was stacked on top of 2 other identical jeans. Zipping her jeans, she dashed out to the kitchen barefooted. Her brother, Jason, was already sitting at the table eating cereal. Gwen smiled at her brother and said, "Hey, what's up?"

"First day of your new school!" he replied happily.

"Yup!" Gwen replied as she poured herself a glass of milk. She made herself and her brother peanut butter sandwiches for lunch, and packed napkins and bottles of apple juice. Then, she placed a chocolate bar, secretively, as a surprise for her brother. Then, she taped the brown bags shut, and threw her brother's bag to him.

Gwen's and Jason's backpacks were already by the front door, ready to go. They both put away their lunches, and Jason hummed some random song. Gwendolynn's backpack was a black, beat-up backpack that appeared to be more of a grayish color than black. The straps were frayed, and even though there were no holes, it was definitely...old. Same went for Jason's backpack, except his was a dark blue.

Gwen grabbed a banana and a yogurt, along with nuts, and sat down to eat her breakfast and drink her glass of milk. Once she was done, she placed them all in the sink, and grabbed Jason's items too, and washed them all herself.

"Thanks!" Jason said cheerily.

Gwen smiled at her brother and replied, "You're welcome!" She glanced at the clock; it was almost time for school. Jason's middle school opened at a different time than Gwen's high school, so Gwen had to go a bit earlier than her little brother. She slipped on a pair of plain white, mid-calf socks, and a pair of black running sneakers with frayed shoelaces. She tied the shoelaces hastily.

"I got to go; bye!" she said as she slung on her backpack.

"Good luck!" Jason said.

Then, Gwen set out for school. Her new high school, the C.E. Richards High School, was close enough to walking distance. So, she could just walk there. She had seen the High School before, and couldn't believe she could actually go there! It was so beautiful, in her memories. Gwen sighed contentedly, "Imagine if they have a huge library... Oh, I would settle for even a small one!" She smiled, walking down the streets. This was already second semester, so she hoped she would do okay with the curriculum.

Arriving at the school, she slipped into the line for second semester schedules. She looked around, taking in the sights. A lot of the Richards' students dressed very nicely -- either nicely as in expensive clothes, or nicely as in stylish and in fashion.

Gwen recognized Charlie suddenly. "Charlie! Hey there!" she called out, happy to actually know someone. She was about three people behind Charlie in line.

Charlie was, as usual, with her head in the clouds. She was so busy absorbing all the new sights, and the differences in the culture, that she didn't notice Gwen at first. That wasn't exactally uncommon for her, as she wasn't the most focused person. She liked to flit around from subject to subject, and had quite the reputation for being random. But, as per usual, she got bored of the sights. There were only so many turreted towers, only so many bleach blonds wearing frilly tops and tight jeans, that any one person could take. The same went for the designer-clothes wearing boys, although they had the perk of looking nice.

But when she finally noticed Gwen looking at her expectantly, she practically bounced with energy and grinned at her classmate. "Gwen! Ohmigosh, it's so amazing to see you here! Are you excited? I am!" And it all came out in a jumbled rush, having forgot to slow down when she spoke. That happened quite often when she was excited, and often earned her weird stares from anyone who didn't speak "Charlie" as her friends had so lovingly dubbed it. "Look at all the towers, this whole school is amazing and huge!" She could have chattered on all day, but several people grumbled about the line moving, and her not. With a shrug at the offended parties, she let a couple people cut, until she was even with her friend. "Oooh, this is just stellar," she sighed happily and then laughed, waving at some people who were shooting her glares. She turned back to face Gwen, and then belatedly realized that she should probably tone it down a bit.

[Sorry I took forever]

PostPosted: Fri Apr 25, 2008 3:58 am

"Haha, hey Charlie!" replied Gwen with a grin spreading across her pretty face. "Yeah, I know! This school is so...beautiful! And amazing! I have a sudden urge to write a poem about it...I mean, have you seen the ceilings?!" Gwen gestured up at the beautiful, high ceilings with the arches and glorious lights. It seemed as if Charlie's hyperness rubbed off on Gwendolynn. A lot. Gwendolynn felt as if she felt happiness, excitement, and definitely, hyperness bubble up from inside of her. She was glad she found Charlie; it would have been terrible to be alone in this place! She wasn't 'best friends' with Charlie, but, it didn't really matter. She knew Charlie, and she thought of them as friends, but honestly, she actually thought that they seemed to be more like acquaintances. But, no matter. A friend is a friend, no matter how close or far away the two were.

Suddenly, Gwen realized all the rich students staring at the two of them. There were many whispers flowing through the crowded lines, and Gwen felt like it was all directed at her. And Charlie. A few girl in designer kimono-style tops sniggered and snickered...and one of them pointed at Gwen. Gwen's happiness, excitement, and hyperness vanished away as quickly as it had come. "Charlie... I think they are making fun of us...the bad kind..." Gwen whispered.

"A Dios Mio!" Liz flopped out of bed, scrambling to get ready for school. Her alarm hadn't gone off and she knew she would be late. She was leaping out the door, vainly trying to get her rainbow toe-socks on, a toothbrush hanging out of her mouth.

She called to bid her mother good bye as she bolted down the street, her backpack feeling like it weighed a ton. She ran as fast as she could up the stairs and bolted through the doors, looking half undressed. She looked up at all the snobbish kids staring at her like she was on acid, then glanced up at the clock, it wasn't even eight. Class didn't start until eight thirty. Once again her wonderous time-reading skills failed her.

Blushing a bright pink she sulked to the restroom, knowing it would make no sense to sneak, she would have been ridiculed either way. She didn't even bother to say good morning to Gwen or Charlie as she passed by.
