My boyfriend showed me that one. He thought it was funny because he didn't understand it. I had to explain the joke to him.

There are two websites: icanhascheezburger.com & icanhasahotdog.com
The cheese burger is cats and sometimes other animals and the hot dog is for... well... dogs. The cats one is very funny and I love the jokes on there. Yes the grammer is horrible, but it is very funny. You should go and laugh or sigh at the pictures.

I've always assumed the misspellings/txt-talk were there intentionally to increase the humor.

Man, I love those!!! Of course, despite the usual illiteracy, They never fail to make me laugh!!^^ Here's a site that I found that has some funny cat things on it (And it's usually literate)-- Crazy aunt purl-- and her crazy cats...Beware, I only go here for the pics. This is the blog of a 30- something (I think) year- old divorced woman who has tons... and I mean TONS... of cats, and the pictures she makes with them are really funny!!!

I happen to be a fan of the illiterate cat captions, I cant help but find them incredibly humorous. The text-talk is merely there to relate it to todays generation. (or at least the illiterate portion of our generation)
You're forgetting lolcats.com, they have a large selection of cat captions, and are even translating the bible into semi text-talk.

Mikhalia I've always assumed the misspellings/txt-talk were there intentionally to increase the humor. Same here. The only actually literate ones that I've seen were commenting on their own literacy. Like "I am in your forum, posting in a gramatically accurate manner."

But how quickly we forget Such a sure and perfect plan, And unlearn the passions that once had burned. What about this one? Not a cat, but...
But how could I have seen? What was I to do? How could I know I would find you? -Erik, The Phantom of the Opera, Tom Alonso

They're called lolcats. I've met some serious lolcat makers and they say that "LOLcatspeak" and txt tlk are completely different.
"LOLcatspeak" is meant to look like the actual cat or other animal is typing it. I imagine animals wouldn't be so fluent at grammar or typing.
txt tlk is meant to shorten, while certain lolcatspeak phrases are actually longer than the original word. It's meant to show the grammar skills of a cat, really. It's meant to sound more like a person who barely knows English than a fluent English speaking person that's too lazy to type out their words.
There's a site called the lolcat bible that's supposedly trying to translate the bible into lolcatspeak, and ont he rules it says lolcatspeak is different than txt tlk, and pretty much what I just said before, and people usually edit out txt tlk .
