Bookworms!

"Bookworms" means people who love books! And read a lot. biggrin

Can you come up with other words that mean the same thing?
Basically, just make-up your own silly words for people who love to read, and explain why you chose the words you did!

And, perhaps you can make up other words too! Like a word for someone who likes fantasy books. Or someone who doesn't like to read.

(This thread is half-game half-discussion. It was just this random idea I had because I was wondering why the word "bookworm" meant what it did. Does anybody know why the word "worm" was chosen?)

Booknooker. >< Hee hee. I just randomly put the two together because well, we all like reading, and the denotation of nook is: 1. a corner, as in a room.
2. any secluded or obscure corner.
3. any small recess: a breakfast nook.
4. any remote or sheltered spot: a shady nook that was ideal for a picnic

Personally, before I looked it up, I always thought that a nook was like someone's 'groove' like...what they did. Which would be the conotation. ^.^ THUS, the word Booknooker would mean that someone that has a groove for books. ^.^

(I think they used worm because of the fact that people who read a lot seem to burrow into the book like a worm. ^.^)

Yay! -waves hands in the air- I'm currently reading Sword of the Rightful King by Jane Yolen. It's really good. ^.^ Complete King Arthur, which is my current obsession.

I love the tales of King Arthur! And Robin Hood. XD Classic.

But, my not 'current,' but 'all-time' obsession is definitely Guardians of Ga'hoole. I just finished re-reading book 14 for the third time like ten minutes ago. XD

Anyways, back to our word discussions. A "booktician" is someone who studies books -- nonfiction ones! Um...it sounds stupid, I know. xD;; I am being random today.

Which probably means people like mean can tear through a xbawks-hueg book in hours, maybe days at most.

My record: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (longest book imo). Ripped through that sucker on two airplane rides. Counting time-shifts, I took only an hour!

In reality, it was more like seven, but still!

Wow! (What does imo stand for?) And, are you the sort of person who reads fast and forgets? It's better to read slowly and take in the words than to zip through and forget a month later.
