As you may know I love Dragunovs and have been wanting to get one.

When out of the blue a guy at school mentioned that he has to sell half of his 300 gun collection.

3 of the 300 being Dragunovs. One an SVD and one he wants to keep.

He needs to get rid of them or the Mrs is going so he's selling two of the Dragunovs for u of the retail value. $2000x.75 is... $1,500.

So is $1,500 for a Russian Dragunov with scope a good buy?

Are you sure it's RUSSIAN?
Russian SVD's are quite expensive, given the import ban.

A good Russian SVD in kept condition can cost up to $4500 with highs of $8000.

So if it IS Russian, that is a great deal.
The only Russian Dragunov variant I know that is around $2000 is the Tiger. Which is a hunting version.

So, in short. Yes.

One of them he said he was keeping, it might be the SVD.
He said there are two other which are Dragunovs.
Unsure I haven't seen them myself. If he's at school tomorrow I'll ask again and well, hope for a meeting.

When dealing with Dragunovs, It's usually the Russian SVD, Russian Tiger, and Chinese. When you stray away from those, they aren't really Dragunov's besides appearance.

The Chinese Dragunov has some rough metal work, and the black paint the use chips easy.

As for Tigers and SVD's, they look obviously different

Top is an SVD, bottom is a tiger.

You probably know most of this but hey.

Hope you can schedule a meeting though, sounds like a good deal so far.

Hey I'll settle for a PSL.
But not that Chinese one with a plastic hand guard.

Easy photo.

So pretty much; SVD I'll buy it, PSL I'll buy it, Yugo M76... Looks good enough. biggrin

As long as they're chambered in 7.62x54R I'll want it.

The thing is I'm pressed for cash.
I think I can get $500 for my father if I ask for it ahead of time as a Birthday and Christmas thing.
I might go and sell my Walther P1 I'm sure I can get at least $400 for it.
Holster, 3 mags and a set of the Bakelite and new Walnut grips.
The other $500-600...
I'm not sure.
