How come

In the .Hack games all the main characters have different armor then the other players. The main characters get different armor while the other players in the game have the same armor? I wonder did any of you guys noticed it??

I imagine plot armour looks prettier than all the stuff everyone else has to wear?

XD Yeah.
They obviously would spend more time on the characters that matter to the plot. It is a bit of an inconsistency in the series though, considering not ALL of the main characters have some kind of special character design, yet you almost never see any repeats of theirs.

It'd take a really long time to come up with pretty and original designs for everyone D: Especially random players.

I thought 1/2, Syake, Heart in Brocade, and Henako had really cute designs though :D

Which is why some people have a problem with Kite. XD

No, seriously though, I think the main characters usually always looked cool. Except in SIGN, because Tsukasa DOES look like just about every other Wavemaster.

I think that in order to make it seem like they were not
choosing favorites in character designs, they made Elk
and BlackRose, as well as give Haseo and opposite
[Skeith's human form] and make no one recognize Azure
Kite/Balmung/Orca. The World R:2 made it appear as if
one could literally have millions of options in the human
race category, and that is why everyone is pretty much
unique.

Well, for Balmung and Orca, I know Balmung was supposed to be an Admin or something, as far as Orca goes, all I can recall was he was a powerful character.

Ouka is a werewolf because she maxed her level and was able to get a special class, so she was entitled to a new look.

But a lot of characters really didn't stand out, Elk, Tsukasa, Subaru, that one night guy who gets his a** kicked by the Gaurdian ( forgot his name sweatdrop )

The PKs in the series stood out though, like Sora, but that was to show he was bad a**. And an underage kid offline trying to act tough online.

Pretty much basing a lot of todays youth in playing MMO's.

As well as the entire "Doll Syndrome" story, which was a way to show "You play games too much, you're turning into a vegetable!"
