Wikipedia The Vermilion Bird (Chinese: 朱雀; pinyin: Zhū Què) is one of the Four Symbols of the Chinese constellations. It is sometimes called the Vermilion Bird of the South (南方朱雀), and it represents the south and the summer season. It is often mistaken for Fenghuang, but they are two different creatures. Fenghuang is the king of birds, while the Vermilion Bird is a mythological spirit creature of the Chinese constellations. The Chinese constellations were not only used by Chinese cartographers, they were also used by Korean and Japanese cartographers as well. In Japanese, the Vermilion Bird is called Suzaku, and it has been depicted in numerous Japanese comic books and animations. In Korean, it is called Ju-jak (주작).
South House of the Vermilion Bird
Opposite of the Northern House, the Vermillion bird's house is located South of the Center house. Following the trend of opposing traits the Southern-hold has been gifted with the trait of Speed with an element of Fire. Where as the Northern-hold houses the Military-focus-point of the Pride, the Southern-hold focuses it's strengths on Diplomacy. We strive to settle disputes and handle situations in a swift and effective manner, with as little disruption and complication as possible.
Needless to say, the Southern house also strives to keep the five branches in touch, delivering news throughout the lands governed by the five pairs. Messengers, ambassadors, diplomats, and even something of a council of advisers make up this portion of the pride, with the royal family at it's center. The lord/lady she finds that working things out without fighting is the best way to approach things and often strives to do so. Generally the rulers of the house are not afraid to get involved and help out. They also rule strictly but not without compassion and is often thinking of the whole rather than the one.

.:: The Ranks ::.
Lord - The ruling male of the house. He is in charge of looking after the house alongside his mate. His position alongside the lady of the house, makes him the primary diplomat. He's a reflection of his mate and their house, and as such, strives to keep disputes settled in a peaceful manner, and communications open and non-hostile.
1/1
Lady - The ruling female of the house, currently Zagaa'Tamanio. She holds the highest rank of the females in the Southern house, and is to be looked to as such. She bears the ruling lord's heirs, but more than that she must also be wise and versed in the ways of diplomacy. She is an extension and reflection of her mate and their house. She holds influence and voice in her mate's ear, and most choices are decided together, but in the end if the need arises, the mate ruling by sucession will have the final say. In the case of the heir being female, final choices would be hers. In the current case Tama hold the power that would be invested in the Lord and will continue to until she finds a mate.
1/1
Heir - The selected offspring of the Lord and Lady's litter who will be expected to take on the position of Lord or Lady in their parents place when the time comes. In childhood, a suitable mate will be chosen from the rest of the house to act as their mate and co-ruler of the house. This means that their mate will be selected for them, though they may choose to take other mates who would hold lesser positions, such as a mistress or consort.
1/1
Duke/Duchess - The other children of the Lord and Lady's litter. They're still considered members of the head family, but have the freedom to choose to take on normal ranks if they wish. They can be selected for arranged marriages as well, and should anything happen to the heir another of them will be chosen to take the heir's place.
-Currently Sharabu Safikunja Majivu Alaula
Consort: The chosen mate to the heir of the House currently Cadenza of the Eastern House, picked from either their own house or the House of another in Tianxia.
1/1
Head Guard - Is the right-hand of the Lord. Reports to the Lord and Lady about everything that is requested of them. Males normally fill this job, though strong females would not be turned away if they could prove themselves.
o/1
Guard -
0/10
Head Adviser - The one that acts as the lord and lady's right hand in most diplomatic matters. She or he leads the council, and acts as a bridge between them and the leaders, so that the leaders are not constantly overwhelmed by a dozen or so voices seeking their attention all at once. She or he can and will act as one of the ambassadors for the pride when the need arises, and doubles as a priest or priestess if one is not so appointed.
1/1
Adviser's Council - Lions, lionesses, cheetahs, leopards, wild dogs-- all species, shapes, sizes, and colors can be on the adviser's council. These creatures are those trusted by both the head adviser and usually the lord and lady of the house as well. They gather with the head adviser, lord, and lady to discuss pride matters or matters concerning them and the other houses. Outside of this they may speak directly with the lord and lady, regarding these matters themselves, but generally their interaction in this department is with the head adviser.
3/6
Head messenger - . The leading messenger above them all within the house. They can assign specific house-members/messengers to specific tasks, and are reported to for news. Not only are they in charge of directing the messengers, but they are one of the several ambassadors for the house as well, along with the head guard, head advisor, lord, and lady. Only the head messenger is entrusted with delivering news and otherwise to the Center-hold of the pride, or directly to the leaders of the other three houses.
o/1
Messenger - When news, requests, or just information needs to be delivered to either the outside or one of the other houses, the messengers are on the job. They are sent out to speak directly with the head messenger of the other houses. Within our own house they also answer to the head messenger, but MAY answer directly to the lord, lady, head guard, or head adviser in an emergency or if urgent news is found.
1/6
Historian - Historians keep track of everything that goes on within the House, including births, deaths, marriages, ect. They sit in on many of the meetings, taking note on everything that is said. The Lady will call on them many times, and does depend on them heavily. Even so, non-lions are accepted for this position if they show a knack for remembering things.
o/1-2
Scholars -
Teachers - Those who teach our young. They don't just know things, they know how to share it with those who wish to learn in a way that they can understand. When the lord/lady have children, there may be a 'special' position opened up to tutor their young.
Apprentice - These are in small to medium number, learning from one who currently holds the rank they wish to attain. They learn from teachers and historians, or even the guard, how to handle this position.
Head Nanny: The Head Nanny is in charge of all the nannies and reports to the lady of the house directly. She is specifically in charge of taking care of the Lord and Lady's children. 1/1*
Nanny: Nannies are normally used for the working class of the House (i.e. guards/hunters/scouts/ect) to help take care of the cubs and teach them well. They are led by a head Nanny. o/3-4
