Alright. My family found a pretty nice house that's much bigger than my current one. Basement and all. :33 And my mom has promised that this summer, before we move, she'd let us finally get a dog. I've wanted a dog since the day I was able to actually say the word and the word "please" in the same sentence. And I adore West Highland Terriers. Who doesn't? Click here! But dogs take a lot of responsibility, and I'm ready to take on that job. But in three years, I'm going to graduate High School, and I'll be overseas in College, probably in England or Poland. And my sister is gonna be gone four years after me. Then my parents will be left with the dog. My mom isn't much of a fan of pets, even though she grew up on a barn. And my dad adores animals, but is almost never home. I'm scared that the dog will be sent to a pound, and ultimately put to sleep. DD:
Discuss; ~Pets and what is going to happen to them when you leave ~Whether or not I really should get this dog (who should be at least a year when we adopt) and ~how freakin' adorable those WHT are in the pic! xDD

D'AAAAAW. -Huggles the doggy- Let's see... You're fifteen now, correct? (Sorry, I forget sometimes. xDD) You'll go to college when you're eighteen/maybe a little older... The dog will be 6+ when you and your sister leave. I don't know, you could always 'give it away to a friend' when all they'll really be doing is taking care of it for you. o.O

That friend would be you? xDD Well...there's always my Ciocia Basia. You've met her. :33 Even though she's not really my aunt. xDD
(For those of you who don't know Polish, a ciocia is an aunt)

My great-grandmother used to have that kind of dog! He was a really nice creature, even though he had this thing for drooling on me. >_<.
I can almost positively say that your parents wouldn't throw the dog in a pound after you're in college, even though I don't know them. Three years is some serious animal-human bonding time, and even if your mum doesn't love the puppy by then, it'll be the family dog and it would be needlessly cruel to get rid of it.
And, if all else fails, you can teach it tricks and sell it to a circus.

I say get the dog, let everything go happy-go-lucky since why should you be denied happiness? and then work something out with your parents that once you're done with college you'll bring the dog to live with you?

Ugh. I hate dogs. x3 But since it's your first, I'm sure you'll love it. JUST DO NOT get a Chihuahua. Or any breed that will weigh more than you do. Our Mastiff/Golden Lab. weighs 120 lbs. I can't even take her for a walk. D<
Ahem. Rambling. I'm sure they wouldn't dump it in a pound. And if so, there are special places out there, like Fuzzy Friends, that don't put dogs down.
As far as what happens to my cat when I leave, it's coming with me. D< I don't care if I live in a college dormitory that doesn't allow pets, it's living in my room. X3

My mom will not let us get anything bigger than....a terrier probably. She hates big dogs. xDD
I love West Highland Terriers. They're adorable!
I would never let them dump it in a pound! I have a dog-loving aunt who will more than gladly take him/her in. That is..if she's still around... ><
I'd happily take my dog with me to college! xDD

|•|Awww, those dogs are cute. 3nodding
When I turned 10, my parents bought me a full breed Cocker Spaniel. She was so sweet. I had her until I graduated High School, and after that they pretty much just let her go on my grandparent's farm. She was already pretty old and half blind so they pretty much just let her....go ahead and be on her own while she died. It was really sad, and I didn't even know they'd done it until a few months AFTER. :/
My husband and I have our own dog. We've had him for over 5 years now. He's half German Shepard, half Dachshund. Yes.........I know. "wtf?? how did that happen" ....But it did and he's like....HYPER. You wouldn't think he'd still be like this, but gosh........he's always trying to play or running around jumping. He acts just like a little puppy.

He has more German Shepard features......*finds picches* while his brothers and sisters all looked more like Dachshunds with German Shepard Coloring. [X]
