It didn't happen in the book, it's something that was written into the movie script that Edward said to Bella and then was aired on Twilight Tesdays on MTV and in my opinion it's not an Edward thing to say it sounds more like a Jacob thing to say...

in that case i agree. edwards spose to be a gentleman, born in the early 1900's. someone from that era, even living through all other sorts of eras, would NEVER say something like this. it does sound more cheesy, and i could totally see jacob saying it.
