History An energetic little child romped in the fields of a special garden filled with a variety of lilies, all of the purple persuasion. She had a cheeky grin on her face and the elegant woman that trailed behind her, watched with a soft smile but troubled eyes.
"Be careful Terra, you don't want to fall."
"Okay mommy!"
Such an innocent little girl... She had short, brown hair and pale green eyes. Both of which she inherited from her mother; she didn't even know her father. She never met him. It was just her and her mother in a little cottage not too far from the village. Terra and her mother were very close, at least Terra thought so.
"Mommy, look! There are tadpoles in the pond!" she exclaimed in an excited voice as she crouched down to examine the adolescent frogs up close. Her mother hovered above her, her eyes reflecting off the water and into the child's plain site.
"Mommy...? What's wrong?"
Her mother gave a heavy sigh, "Terra, honey, I need you to be brave for me alright sweetie?"
Terra tilted her head with a question expression on her face, "Why mommy, where are you going?"
The woman chuckled ever so slightly, Terra was a bright child, but still so naive.
"Mommy needs to leave for a bit, but promise mommy you'll wait for her in the patch of lilies ok? And make sure no one can see you," a tear streamed down her mother's face and Terra could do nothing but look with confused eyes, "mommy will come back for you as soon as she can."
Terra nodded in understanding and embraced her mother one last time before she saw her off. She waved vigorously to her mother until she could no longer be seen over the horizon and disappeared along with the setting sun.
The poor girl... She sat and waited for her mother in the patch for nearly 3 days, still believing that her mother would come back. By night time that day, she was dehydrated and starving, but refused to leave thinking that her mother might come back when she wasn't there.
'Where are you mommy...?'
Terra turned on her side; curled up to keep herself warm and to stop her stomach from growling.
'The lilies look thirsty... I am too, but, I can't leave...'
She feared she was becoming delusional from the hunger and dehydration, because a sparkle of green light popped up in the corner of her eye. Then another on the other side, only this time it was pink and then, a purple one hovered right in her face.
"What's going on...? Mommy, please come back..." was all Terra could muster from her dwindling energy up before she passed out.
"Oh no..." came the voice of the purple faerie, "the poor girl..."
"We should help her," the green male suggested while landing on a lily.
"But what can we do? She's probably been here for days!" piped up the voice of the pink female.
"She can't last very long in these conditions... Let's just, help her through her passing as painlessly as possible..."
The other nodded and a soft glow surrounded Terra's body. The child's breathing slowed, and after a minute came to a complete stop. Slowing the body began to dissolve into the light until there was nothing left but her soul. The faeries gently urged the soft light to follow them, and away with the rising sun they vanished.
As it turns out, Terra's mother never came back for her, and Terra passed away peacefully with the help of the wandering faeries. Miraculously, the lilies surrounding Terra's body, became full of life, and lived on far longer than she managed too. Perhaps it was exposure to her soul that kept them alive, but who knows truly...
