Now THIS place had atmosphere. Strae sighed in appreciation as she eyed the castle-like dwelling of her next target. She's seen bigger and better, of course, but a building like this always had that special feel to it that spoke of mysteries and curious histories and curiouser inhabitants. To draw from her personal experiences, such manors also tend to equate to dead people. Which only makes the matter more interesting, in her opinion.
Getting past the iron gate was no problem. (Do those people even realize how much perfectly good foothold those intricate designs give to a potential intruder?) As she walked up to the important-looking doorway and knocked, she wondered vaguely if she would have to search the entire thing for the kid. That will take longer than she would have preferred.

With Eri gone, and Mocha watching Daichi somewhere in the house, it was any wonder what Baron was doing wandering near the front door. He usually kept to himself as of recent, but today he had decided to come out of the inner depths of the house to cruise around in search of old projects he had left lying around, unfinished; one of which was a broken 'Welcome Doll' that would greet guests---not that it was getting much use, since visitors weren't all that common anyway. This is why he hadn't felt the need to fix it right away. But by chance, he was there, and if he hadn't been he never would have heard the knock at the door.
He seemed suprised. "Eh?" Gold eyes flicked to the thick wooden frame of the Manor's Entrance, which his gaze followed until stopping at the door handle. He watched it with an intensity, as if expecting it to move and have to the door open on its own. The man's elven ears seemed to perk as if listening even harder. There was no way that they would have visitor... would they? A guest? Who on Earth would bother to come out here? And surely it wasn't Eri; she'd let herself in.
Baron's thick black boots thunked against the floor as he curiously headed toward the door. He quickly kicked away the 'Welcome Doll' and she wheeled across the floor on her stand; stopping against a corner where she had bumped into a table.
Baron brushed himself off and tried to fix his long, navy hair so it was at least somewhat presentable; his bangs were still hanging in his face though.
With a creak, the door opened and he peered outside. A woman was standing there. Someone he had never seen before. He opened the door wider and raised a brow. "Hello Miss," he paused, as if trying to decide whether or not this stranger was friendly and if it would be impolite not to let her in. "May I....... help you?" he finally asked, watching the girl with an air of suspicion . What could she possibly want with this place? Hopefully she wasn't looking to hire him. He was out of the excorcism business permanently, or at least that's what he told himself. Perhaps she was there for Eri?

Strae had put on an amiable air and a slightly apologetic smile to accommodate the current situation, all the while beating herself with an imaginary stick in her mind-scape. No good will come of this, and she will eventually come to regret one thing or another. She tried her best to shove that bit of thought into a corner and slammed a lid on it, just as the door hesitantly opened.
"Hello, sir," Strae greeted the man with a slight bow, keeping her eyes trained on his forehead. "I am sorry to trouble you, but I have been told that..." a nervous moment of eye contact, then back to the forehead-staring, "...that a boy by the name of Daichi resides here?" She smiled again, this time with her head bowed and trouble evident in her eyes. "It's..." A pause. "Perhaps it would be best to speak of the matter with him present."
They are what they want -- or what the situation requires -- them to be. Nothing less. Nothing more. Such is the nature of their existence and purpose. The line between truth and lie is at best a blur. Strae has long since accepted the fact, a key component to her success despite the lack of enthusiasm. Not even the magics of lie detection would work against her, for there was no "lie" to begin with. (Provided, she could just nullify whatever. But that's not the way Strae does things.)
In short: Strae is a flawless actress. Many things would have been dead by now if it were otherwise.

"Ah yes Daichi," Baron said, repeating the name as a small smile appeared on his lips. "The flower child. He's here. I'll notify 'them'. By which of course he meant Mocha AND Daichi. After all, the woman had never said that others couldn't also be present, and Mocha was in charge of him after all. The Baron seemed to shrug to himself as he hit a switch near the door. Elsewhere in the house a chime seemed to be echoing, beckoning the other residents to the front room.
Upstairs, Mocha's ghostly apparition hovered behind Daichi as he watched the child who was drawing pictures with crayon on some old scrap paper. Daichi glanced up at the sound of chimes. "Wh are we being summoned downstairs? Who would even be down there to begin with?" he questioned, wrinkling his nose in confusion and distaste-he was right in the middle of attempting to draw a huge cherry blossom tree, and he had been quite absorbed in it until the noise from the front of the house had interrupted his attenion.
Mocha chuckled at the face the boy was making. He ruffled Daichi's hair. "Don't worry. You can finish your picture later. Maybe Jinx or someone needs us for something. Come on then," he took Daichi by the hand, pulling him up off the floor, and leading him out to the hallway. How Daichi was able to 'hold' onto Mocha was a mystery. Generally the raccoon spirit was intangible unless he concentrated enough to change this. But that would required quite a bit of energy on Mocha's part. It was much simpler to remain the way he was, and use pychic/poltergeist abilities to move objects for him. And if Daichi could hold onto him reguardless, it worked out perfectly.
The duo of spirit and illusionary appeared downstairs as quickly as possible. But they were both suprised when they saw who had called them to the front of the house.
"Baron? What are you doing down here?" Mocha questioned, uneasily, eyeing the partially open door.
"There's someone here to see Daichi," Baron stated bluntly, motioning to the beautiful woman at the doorway.
"Someone here...for me?" Daichi asked. He took a few steps forward, and bowed in greeting-deciding that was the best way to go about things, since he wasn't sure what was going on. "Um, hello. I'm Daichi. Is there something I can do for you?" He tried his best to be polite, but he couldn't help, but stare in awe. Who was this person? And how did she know him? She was pretty. Did he know her from somewhere? Had they met before, and he just didn't remember? That would be rude of him. He searched his memories, but the search was fruitless. "I'm sorry, but I didn't catch your name miss. Have we... met?"

"That would be great, thank you," Strae replied with another small bow. "I was-"
Before she could finish the sentence, however, her "target" had appeared. It should be cake from here. Yet Strae could find no relief or accomplishment of any sort. Her mind remained bothered by the almost-there agitation that may or may not have to do with the role she had assumed for the time.
"Hello," she smiled, again (how many times had she done that today?), at the boy. "No, we've never met before, but I heard about you because of the Illusionaries. There is...a problem, you see. Oh," the young woman gave a start as though suddenly remembering something important. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to ignore your question. My name is Kallistrae." Not that her name means much...anymore. Let them do what they will with it.

"Kallistrae.....illusionaries...." Daichi repeated. He seemed to be in deep thought. It finally registered that she had mentioned the word 'problem', and he cocked his head to the side in confusion. "A problem Ms. Kallistrae?" he questioned.
"What sort of a problem?" Mocha interrupted, his misty raccoon tail swirled around him in an eerie fashion. Why was he feeling so uneasy? Was it because the moment Eri left they got a visitor? He silently wished she hadn't left, even if it were for Baron's sake. And what was an 'illusionary' exactly anyway. But the ghost would save his other questions for later. Right now, he'd settle for a good explanation about what this problem was, and what it had to do with Daichi.
Baron stood, watching the group. He didn't say anything, meerly stared without any real expression. Mocha couldn't tell what he was thinking. The Baron was generally a hard man to figure out. And you could never be too sure when he would switch personalities; as he had no control over it. The only real way to be able to tell was his change of eye color, and then of course under observation there were obvious personality changes.

Strae nodded. "Do you know of Shenella? I doubt anyone has told you this directly, but she is someone you should meet, one day. She is the one who has been bringing Illusrionaries to this world. She has sacrificed a great deal and had taken great risks to give you what you have." Ah, here's the catch.
"Unfortunately Shen had made several grave mistakes. Some of the more recently born Illusionaries have been created with faults. One of them, I believe, has far too many souls inhabiting one single body, while the other does not have one at all." Strae sighed at that, her entire continence burdened with a whole other (albeit related) story. "I'm not saying you have anything wrong with you, Daichi, but it's one of those things you just can't be too careful about...and can't guard against."

"Shenella?" The name was unfamiliar to him. But this person, she was responsible for bringing him into this world? He remembered the darkness before his world vanished. But he was saved. He had appeared here, in this very house, and was now well taken care of. And it was all thanks to this woman, Shenella.
This was someone Daichi wished he could definitely meet, at least to thank her. Even though, for the life of him, Daichi could not remember why his world had come to an end in his previous life. But this was his second chance by being saved.
Faults though? Whatever could she mean? "So... I might have.... faults?" he questioned aloud, more to himself than anyone else. "And maybe, I can learn more...from you?" The last part was an assumption.
Mocha interrupted though with a look of horror. "Wait a minute. This situation you speak of sounds....awful familiar in some ways," he said, shifting back and forth uneasily as he watched Baron.
Baron simply frowned, and shot a glare in Mocha's direction, indicating that he should shut up or else. Maybe this Kallistrae was onto something. "So what are you getting at? You want Daichi?" Baron asked.
"What are you saying?!" Mocha yelped.
"Well, why else would she come all the way out here?" Baron retorted. He had a point.
Of course Baron and Mocha knew they shouldn't do anything without Eri's permission or she might murder them-despite Mocha already technically being deceased. They had been ordered to keep Daichi safe, and in the house.
But Daichi's curiousity was peaked. Who knew what kind of chaos would ensue if the group would come into a disagreement.

Strae sighed at the group's reactions, apparently under a great amount of stress. "I know you have no grounds to believe me. Why should you? I'm a perfect stranger who just walked up to your house and told you things you have never heard of." She sighed again and bit her lower lip as she considered what to say next. "All you have is my word that everything I have told you is true." Which definitely was. "I can give you my word I mean the boy no harm. But he will need to be away for a little while." Her eyes swept across the room, making contact with all the other pairs briefly, before continuing. "There are bigger things happening than we can deal with. This is the least bit of precaution I can help you take."
As she spoke, Strae began to trace signs in the air. The marks glowed, suspended trails of sparks that flared for but a moment; and as the last spark faded a silvery-white, rippling surface appeared in the air directly in front her. Strae remained visible through the front of the thing, a shivering distortion of an image.
"To eliminate all outside influences, as well as for Daichi's own safety, it is best if we were to perform the check-up in an isolated dimension," Strae explained. "I know what this looks like. Kidnapping, right?" Contorted as the image was, the sincerity of her smile remained visible through the convulsing air. "I don't know what else to say other than to promise that no harm will come to Daichi in that little pocket of space," she shook her head sadly. "And...should anything go wrong while he was in Gaia..." A moment of foreboding silence as the news waited to be dropped. "There have already been people killed." I wonder how many knows THAT about Vast. "There were also other...incidents. Shen is besides herself with guilt. I can't bear to see someone so great in pieces like that."
If her hunch about the way things are going is correct (which usually are), Daichi going away for a day or two is the least of his guardians' worries and most likely the safest course of action. Going against Their orders never ends well.
There is only so much she could do.

"Hmm...." Baron seemed to be in deep though. A swirl of red seemed to flash through his eyes, if only briefly. Mocha and Daichi didn't notice. Baron seemed to be wearing a genuin smirk on his face, and his final answer was suprising. "Alright. Go ahead. A couple days should be nothing." Truthfully this wasn't Baron speaking at all, but someone far more sinister who was thought to be under a seal. Not anymore it seemed.
Of course no one except Eri knew the signs of seal-breakage or the symptoms shown when this darker personalilty were to show itself. After all, no one Eri knew had never met Touya 'Malice' Thorn. Eri was the only one who had ever encountered the b*****d. Apparently Touya's grip on Baron was slowly strengthening. And he truthfully didn't give a damn about what happened to Daichi. In fact having Daichi out of the picture might actually be to Touya's benefit. He shrugged, and continued, "I don't see the harm in it."
"Are you nuts?!" Mocha cried. "We don't know what this is really all about! And to send Daichi off with a stranger! What is with YOU lately Baron?"
"With BARON? I'm not sure," Touya, replied casually from with Baron's body. "I'll leave it to you to figure it out. In the meantime, I'm busy, and I've got things to do." With that, the man waltzed out of the room and disappeared.
Pissed, Mocha glared after him and grabbed Daichi by the hand. "Look lady. Something's strange here. I don't know if I really trust you. And I know right now I don't trust Baron because of his odd behavior as of late. In fact... Daichi might actually be safer in this.... other place. But I'm in charge of him! I'm supposed to take care of him until Eri returns! She trusts me! What am I supposed to do?! Can't I go with Daichi if he leaves?" the raccoon pleaded, though he was almost sure the girl would say no.
"Don't I get a say?" Daichi finally spoke up. "I know momma wants me to stay here, but... I think we can trust this Ms. Strae." He tugged at Mocha's ghostly sleeve. "Please. I'll be ok. Just tell mommy I said I wanted to do this, if I'm not back before she gets here."
Mocha stood in stunned silence. He wasn't sure what to do. "................." If he agreed, Eri would murder him....well if she could anyway. You can't exactly murder a ghost.

Behind the swirling portal, Strae watched the show unravel before her feeling strangely detached. "If it will give you peace of mind, you can enter along with the boy. But the space was not designed to contain someone like you. If you come in as well, I can't guarantee...well, I'm not sure WHAT might happen, although at the very least you won't interfere with the examination." She stepped out into full view and looked straight at Mocha. "It's your decision. If it would make you feel better -- I wish none of you any harm.
"But mostly, this is Daichi's decision. This is for him."

Daichi looked from Strae back to Mocha. "Mocha-sama, I don't want you to risk getting hurt. Please stay here. Tell momma when she gets back, I'm okay. I'm going to go. I WANT to go. If you could understand this strange feeling I have, I want to know more....I'll go." The boy nodded his head in confirmation.
Mocha's grip loosened on Daichi as he felt the child step away from and toward Strae and the portal. "I'll come." He looked back to Mocha and gave a tiny wave. "Don't worry. I'll be back. I'll make sure of it." Truthfully he didn't know, but it was best to be confident in situations such as this. In reality he really was becoming a brave boy.

The portal flared a brilliant white as the boy stepped through to whatever lies beyond. The light died down and vanished completely as soon as he had passed into the other realm.
"I'm sorry if my sudden intrusion and departure would seem rude and inconsiderate to your concerns," Strae said to the remaining occupants of the house with another small bow. "I'm afraid I can't stay here; I will bring back Daichi in a few days, after the tests are over. He will be taken care of." With that, the young woman turned to leave from this manor.

Mocha watched as the Daichi disappeared and the woman left. Perhaps luck would be on his side, and Daichi-kun would be alright, and home before Eri's return.
The raccoon spirit could only cross his fingers with hope, and wait and see.
