Battlefield Reaper Freak_090 The measurement of "Caliber" is in inches. So, a 1.0 cal is 1" in diameter, a .50cal is half an inch, etc... 7.62mm is = to 308 thousandths of an inch or, .308 (7.62 has always been reffered to as a .30cal) 5.56 is = to 223 thousandths of an inch or .223 (It is sometimes called a .22 round) There is no coding for ammo when it comes to its name. However, terms like FMJ (Full-Metal Jacket), FHJ (Jacketed Hollow-Point), APIT (Armor piercing Incidiary Tracer), etc... describe what type of round it is. What about ACP (sorry , I should know that one xD ) and so .357 is close to .35 but its 7 thousandths of an inch off? Well you could say that it is 3 thousandths of an inch off of .36 xp
ACP = Automatic (auto-loading) Colt Pistol. Which basically amounts to, "Desinged by Colt Arms, for an auto-loading (semi-auto) pistol"

Fresnel I've actually got a related question to bring up... why is it that the last digit of the caliber is, more often than not, wrong? 7mm Mauser is actually 7.92mm .303 British is actually .311" .50BMG is actually .51" .223 Remington is actually .224" Why do they name this s**t like that if it's just going to be wrong? tolerances maybe?
I'm glad this came backup anyways because I have something bugging me: What about .50 and .500? Aren't they both just .50? I mean, there's the .50 BMG and .50 AE (I guess that's right) so why the extra 0?

Or maybe it was to match their Model 500 revolver, and they already had a Model 50?

Speaking of ammunition, at the gun show I went to today this guy had milsurp .303 that I was going to buy as soon as I sold my SKS and what happens? I sell my SKS, go up to the guy and the guy ahead of me buys the whole damn lot. crying $10 a box. You can't find a better deal than that anywhere else!
I did get a muzzle cover for my K31, K31 stripper clips and a Russian SKS mag pouch for $30.

I have six rounds of 1940's MilSurp left, and one is... well, one of these things is not like the others.

It's either a tracer, or a standard ball. I can't be sure until I shoot it...

OberFeldwebel Fresnel OberFeldwebel Huh... that's odd. I wouldn't shoot the last one. I've been told it's just a wax sealant to keep the powder from getting wet. I took a knife and it cuts like wax, so I'm inclined to believe that. I'm probably not going to shoot any of those unless I HAVE to, just for the novelty value. Yeah, if they are from the '40s I wouldn't shoot them either. Might make a nice display if you get any other WWII British stuff. I shot two dozen rounds of it before I realized it wasn't Wolf. gonk
