XWraith_LordX You know what my opinion on remakes is? Go ahead and do it. If it's great, it's great. If it sucks, hey, we warned you not to mess with it... I think people should be open to new interpretions of things, see how other people would have done it.
This is my opinion on remakes as well.
Eyelash Curlers and Stars It's not like they're going to sneak into your house, steal your copy, and tape the remake over it.
I've heard a lot of arguments against this remake, and I swear, people are talking about it as though this sort of thing is going to happen. I can't count the number of times I've heard people say "It's going to ruin the original!".

ladyjewell frankly, I think it's sad when people can't come up with their own ideas for movies, but have to re-make others' films to ride on the coattails of greatness.
I don't think it's fair to say that everyone who makes remakes is incapable of coming up with their own ideas. Many of them simply want to put their own spin on a tale they love, often to drastic differences. Others want to update a film without the constraints of the past's special effects. Others still are going back to a source material, but not actually remaking the original film (Dracula being probably the best example of this). There are plenty of EXTREMELY talented and creative people who have done fantastic remakes.
ladyjewell Seriously, have you EVER seen a re-make that is better (or even as good as) the original?
All the time.
Ocean's Eleven is SO much better than the original that people often forget it's a remake at all. Ben-Hur (with Charlton Heston) is a remake and it's considered one of the best films of all time. John Carpenter's The Thing is a remake and it's considered by many to be the best horror film ever made. The same can be said of Cronenberg's The Fly. Brian de Palma's Scarface (with Al Pacino) is a remake too. The Departed (which won an Oscar for best picture) is WAY better than the Hong Kong action flick it's a remake of. Casino Royale, like Ocean's Eleven, is SO much better than the original that people forget that it's a remake of a Sean Connery Bond film. And let's not forget Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings; or King Kong, arguably. 3:10 to Yuma, The Hills Have Eyes, The Toolbox Murders, Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much, Cape Fear...
Plus all the remakes that may not be better than the original, but are still great films in their own right, or are attempting something totally different. The musical version of Hairspray (adapted from the play adapted from the movie), Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (tried to stick to the book), Herzog's Nosferatu (which is, well, Herzog), Savini's Night of the Living Dead (feminist remake), and so on.
