Rules here are simple - if you want to start an OOC discussion(as in a new topic in my small thread), please mark thread title with [OOC]. If you want to start a RP thread, please mark the thread title with [RP]. If you want to start a thread simply to chat casually in character, then please mark the thread [IC]. Be respectful of other RPers, and have fun weaving your tales of daring and adventure, without stepping on anybody else's toes. icon_wink.gif

If you're a neophyte unlike me, and don't know the proper terms, abbreviations, symbols, and other methods of Role-playing, then this guide is for you:


1. RP- Roleplaying.- A role play is basically any sort of story or thread that takes you out of your own skin and places you into a character.

2. IC- In character- This is used to distinguish when you are speaking as your character as a opposed to speaking as yourself.

3. OOC- Out Of Character- This is used when speaking as yourself in a post with character actions and speech. Sometimes instead of using " OOC" the use of ((ooc thought )) also means Out of character. For instance,
((Suzy sucks at RPing.))

4.Char, Toon- These stand for your character. A character is the persona you take on when you join a Roleplay

5. Profile- a character profile explains about your character. Most, not all, RPs require you to explain about your character's appearance, special powers and history. (not really required unless you want one...I'll post it anyway)

6. Actions- Some RP's allow you to use " * * " to show your actions, for instance. *Drake dances with a toy penguin named seamus.* A lot of RP's will not allow this and will ask you to explain it in regular text in your post.

7. Character thoughts- These are any inner thoughts your character may have. Typically they are shown in italics sometimes however they are encased in colons. For example, :: Sheesh, this stupid thing is taking too long::

8. God Modding- This is when a player either controls other characters in benefit of his own or overrides a situation with his own post where he cancels out the actions of another's post that has direct bearing on his character's actions. DONT DO THIS. I WILL HAVE A ROYAL FIT.

9. NPC- "Non-Player Character" This means that these characters aren't controled by anyone. Typically in an RP this means that any one can control them as long as the NPC is involved with your character. Sometimes however people who often RP together will control NPC with the other player, but that is usually agreed upon. Please make sure that if you wish to use an NPC that someone else isn't using the same one or you make up another.

10. Free Form RP- This usually means that there is no character profile needed to RP and no post structure. Often times in many RP's a post structure is required. AkA. No symbols in a post or 733t speak. In a freeform RP. It is widely accepted that any way to post is okay and even the infamous "one liner" posts are allowed. Most common free form RPs are "Bar" Rps in which the RP takes place in a bar where people are allowed to come and go.


11. The "One liner" post- This is in reference to any RP post that is only one line sometimes two. This is a most hated post type among RPers, typically because it gives nothing to the story and nothing for the responder to work off of. Most posts are typically 4 or more lines. It is always best to do at least this amount as a common courtesy.

The same rules still apply here. No flaming, no trolling, and keep profanity down to a minimum, we do have younger people part of this guild. I want to make sure they are comfortable... hence also keep sexual innuendos to an absolute minimum thanks members!
