"Hmmmmm." The white and bronze lion stood in the middle of the savannah, regarding a rather ordinary patch of ground with a startling intensity. Occasionally, he would take a few steps to the right or left, as if to get a different perspective, but he never actually went straight across the line of that particular patch. It was rather like he was aware of some invisible barrier barring him from that land.

If anyone had been there to ask him, he would've told them that that was exactly the problem.

Just across that invisible, intangible line, a God held sway. And not the friendly type, either. And since Zururuka was a God as well, he had to take into consideration that walking into what another God considered his territory could start off a confrontation that could last eons. A fairly hefty risk considering Zuru's only business in that land would be satisfying his own curiosity. But satisfying his curiosity was practically his right since he was, after all, the God of Wanderlust.

So, it was just his nature to intrude upon the territories of others, and it would be just their nature to rip him to shreds, from the feel of things. Ah well, there really was no question to be answered here.

Zuru walked over the patch of ground, nonchalantly invading the other Gods' territory.

Usare was also wandering a bit today - having gone past the volcano and out toward the borders of the pride's lands. No one really encouraged the demonic cubs to stay home and 'safe' here, and most tended to do whatever they liked, coming home only when they were hungry. If they were stupid enough to get themselves hurt or killed out on their own, that was their fault. And it obviously meant they weren't worthy to live anyway. They were demons, and they made their own fate.

Which he was out busy doing today. The youngster was determined to catch his own meal today, and he was now just looking for a good place to hunt. He'd show everyone that he could take care of himself and bring back the biggest rabbit ever, then eat it all up in front of them and not share a bit.

Smirking to himself, he padded along, keeping sense alert for any hint of prey, though he really didn't entirely know what he was doing. Because he was so very alert, though, he caught a strange scent on the breeze and froze, head up and ears pricked. At almost the same time, that other inside of him stirred a bit, though it didn't speak as it had started to from time to time lately.

Someone new was about ... or something. Unafraid, Usare started off again, though now his attention was focused on the stranger's scent. Maybe if it was an intruder, he could drive them off like his brother had and earn some scars of his own!

Hmmmmm. Zuru paused again and scented the breeze. He'd been inside the border of this other Gods' realm for some time now, and he couldn't shake the feeling he was being followed. Or rather stalked. Stalked by something tiny. A cub?

It certainly seemed that way, but there was no sign of the mother lioness around. Sure, there was the scent of lions all over this land, but the smell of cub was the only recent one. Why would a cub be left out all on his lonesome?

Curious, but unafraid, Zuru chose to sit down and wait for the cub to approach him.

What the...? Ok, now the intruder had just stopped? That wasn't what was supposed to happen! He was a demon! Whoever this guy was, he was supposed to be afraid and run away!

Puffing up his chest and laying ears back in indignation, Usare stood up and stalked toward the god openly, fur bristling as he tried to make himself look bigger.

"Who're you and what are you doing here?" he called out boldly.

A porcupine? No, no. Just a cub doin' its best impression of one. Zuru couldn't help but crack a smile as he watched him approach.

"Ah'm Zururuka, an' Ah'm jus' wanderin' through." he replied, congenially. It didn't harm him any to answer the cubs' queries, after all.

As the cub got closer, Zuru gradually became aware there was something... off about the cub. It wasn't his physical appearance, though the cubs' colors were certainly striking. Rather it was almost as if there was something dormant lying in wait nearby. Zuru, relatively unconcerned about the cub trained his senses towards that other thing, but all he got was the cubs' aura. Strange.

Usare eyed the other for a moment or two, trying to figure out if he was serious or not. Just wandering through? Through a land of demons?

"Are you stupid?" he blurted out, frowning. "This place is full of lions that'll RIP YOU APART!! I won't, cause I'm willing t'just give you a warning but there's others here that're real dangerous!" he went on, tail lashing about behind him.

He could feel some kind of strangeness about the other, but was ignoring it for the moment in favor of boasting.

"Well, Ah reckon that'd suit this place, then." Zuru remarked, still quite aware of this lands' God. "But ya know, that's one of the dunes ya gotta cross when ya decide to wander. But Ah'm not tryin' to raise sand, youngun'."

He was still attempting to figure out that other presence he sensed. For some reason, he could feel it more keenly as the pace of the cubs lashing tail picked up.

"Mah name's Zururuka, by the way." he introduced himself, hoping to get a bit more information about these 'dangerous lions'. "So, there's a Pride 'round these parts?"
PostPosted: Sun Sep 07, 2008 8:21 pm

Usare scoffed at that, ignoring all the talk of dunes and sand since he didn't really understand it. There was a bit of desert in the pride's lands, but he didn't go there often. "I'm Usare," he informed the other, with a little cubbish smirk.

"And 'course there's a pride!" He lowered his voice and leaned closer, like he was telling some kind of big secret. "See... we're all DEMONS!" As he spoke, he yelled that last word, puffing himself up again.

"Nice ta meet ya, Usare." Zuru replied congenially, bowing his head as though to an equal. Wouldn't hurt to stay on the cubs' good side... If this was his good side. A pride of demons? Was there such a thing? Maybe the presence he sensed in the cub was a demon, then? Very curious. But Zuru also felt a little sickened. The presence he felt, this demon, grated on his nerves almost to the point of nausea. A mortals' time as a cub should be spent innocently. This was perversion.

Despite his feelings, or rather because of them, Zuru didn't let any hint of them show on his face or in his body language.

"Demons, huh." he repeated, sounding impressed. "So, Ah guess that makes yor parents demons, then? Ya must be pretty proud of them, eh, little pardner."

Usare watched the other suspiciously as he bowed, wondering if the older male was somehow trying to mock him. But then he decided abruptly that it didn't matter. This guy was trespassing on the pride's lands, and it was Usare's job to get rid of him!

But he was quickly distracted by the next question.

"My parents?" Another little smirk. "My father is one of the pride's leaders. So you better listen t'me."

"Well, Ah reckon Ah try to lissen' to everyone Ah meet. Ya hear some good stories tha' way, ya know." Zururuka responded, intentionally unintentionally misunderstanding what the little 'demon' cub meant. "Like the time Ah met the elephant who holds up the sky. Tricky bugger that one was."

Zuru looked away from the cub and up at the clouds, shaking his head a little, as if remembering good times. He wondered if there was enough of a cub's nature in the little one to respond to the bait.

Usare opened his mouth to say something else. Then frowned, shutting it again. An elephant holding up the sky? What?

"What're you talkin' about? There's no elephant holdin' up the sky," he scoffed. Not quite a question... but he did wonder where this crazy guy had heard such a thing.

Zuru looked quickly back down at the cub in surprise, his hair wraps swinging to and fro.
"Ya mean ya haven't met 'im?" he began to ask, then paused as if thinking. "Well, no, Ah guess tha' does make sense. The guy has to move real careful and slow like, or the sky tips 'round, and makes storms. Ah doubt if he's moved more'n three miles since the last Ah saw 'im. An' Ah saw 'im sev'ral moons ago."
Zuru suddenly scrunched his eyes in a smile, and barked a laugh.
"Cheeh! Got quite a mouth on 'im, too! Ev'ry time he shook the sky up, he'd start swearin' up a storm! Ya mighta been able to hear 'im, too! Only Ah 'spect it rather sounds like thunder this far away from 'im."

Inwardly, Zuru smirked. So, the demon cub wasn't completely without curiosity. It was a good thing to know, though the thought of demon and lion co-existing in the same body still threatened to turn his stomach.

Usare frowned at that, obviously still thinking this was all some kind of weird story the other was telling to pull his leg.

But then a thought occurred to the young lion. He could make stuff up too! And make it sound better.

So thinking, he smirked and sat back a little. "There is no elephant holding up the sky," he said, nose in the air now. "I know that 'cause... it's really a demon up there that makes the storms." That sounded MUCH more plausible ... to him, at least.

O-ho! The littl'un was dreamin' if he thought he could out tell the God o' Wanderlust!

Zuru again widened his eyes in surprise, and exclaimed down at Usare.

"Well, now, I guess ya have heard of 'im then! How'd ya know the demon is what gives the elephant all that trouble keepin' the sky still?"
