((This is my first RP, so bear with me. It is based off of the Final Fantasy series, so if you've ever played(which I'm sure you all have) you'll recognize the plot elements, characters and enemies. Races and Jobs will be included from all games. Avealon is the world that this will be set in. It
consists of 5 major countries. The five major countries are:

Hueron- A superiorly industrialized country on the northeast side of Avealon. The entire country is one giant plain. Mainly Human and a once great kingdom. Their late king was assassinated, allowing Vance Felch to take control. His lust for power is unquenchable. He turned Hueron into an empire and began a conquest for the world, using their airships to destroy

Luxema-The land of elves, mithra, moogles and viera. Blanketed in forest, it stands to the far southwest. It is ruled by a high-council. They mainly keep to themselves and hate all outsiders. Their prowess in magic is unmatched and they have used it to seclude themselves from the rest of the world.(More on this as the story progresses)

Balien-A relatively small Human country south of Hueron. Once a republic, it was conquered swiftly by Hueron and is now ruled by the empire. Vance's brother, Isaac Felch stands as the head of the newly acquired country. While most welcome the empire's reign, a few are opposed to it, and resistance factions can be found throughout the country.

Zein-The other industrial superpower in the land of Avealon. It's mix of all races has allowed it to easily surpass most countries, added to it's vantage of being set in the mountains. Their Chocobo Army is home to some of the best fighters in the land, and their prowess in Chocobo raising is unmatched. A republic ruled by elected officials.

Palance- The Dragon Knights of Palance have never been bested in one-on-one combat. Long ago a group of dragoons set off in the desert to train. There, they set up the Temple of Palance, where they could honor the beasts they hunted. The god's blessed them the next morning, as they awoke to find an egg for each one of them. Since then, every dragoon has awoken next to a wyvern's egg, and it is seen as a coming of age. The country was named after the temple, and is ruled by the Elder dragoons. It is mainly Elven and Human, but it has a handful of every race. Their cities are in oasis' and are completely surrounded by desert.

Here is a very rough sketch of the continent, just to give you a picture of what it looks like.

((I'll kick it off.))

The desert was endless. It seemed like years since he last saw the plains of Hueron. After his father's death, he fled from the capital. "Some leader I'd be", he thought. He had to reach Palance. It was only a matter of time before Balien fell, hell they might even welcome Hueron's rule. If he could just reach the dragoons in time, he might be able to convince them to help, and if they wouldn't, his best friend,((anyone may choose to be this character, but you must be a dragoon)) and best fighter in all of Palance, would surely accompany him. He just had to keep moving.

I'm going to die in this desert.
As he blacked out, he thought he saw the figure of a man on the horizon.

And the figure saw.

Racing to the downed man with an unnatural dextarity over the sands, the seer went to the fallen man's side. When the seer was told to expect a visitor he did not expect "visitor" to mean "collapsed travler." "Come now, have a drink," the seer said, lifting a clear flask from his hip to the fallen man's mouth.

A sweet and delicious liquid spilled out and the man coughed and sputterd to life as he gazed upon his thirst-quencher. THe blue liquid that now stedily rolled down his chin and throat matched the man's armor. It was a lovely Azure blue. The man wore the same color of armor all over his body, and on his head sat a helmet with pointed ends coming off the top. The fallen man knew he had made it far enough, however, when he saw the wyvren land near the Azure Savior. "C'mon, stay with me" the Azure said a little less elloquintly. "Raiden a very low ice breath on this man if you don't mind; my friend. He won't last much longer with this heat."

And the wyvren obey with a little noise. Just as one should to its Dragoon Master.

((HELL YEAH! DRAGOONS!))
PostPosted: Tue Sep 09, 2008 7:02 pm

((The dragoon country was for you brad =P. Oh, and post your profile. Not everyone knows the final fantasy version of Zedo.))

"Oh....my head." He whispered softly. As he slowly came to, he became aware of his surroundings. He was no longer in the desert, and his armor had been removed. He lay on a soft mattress inside a beautiful room. Ancient artifacts and relics engulfed the room. Pictures of great dragoons performing daring feats littered the walls with their brilliance. He recognized the worried face of his long friend standing in the doorway.

"You're certainly not the brightest. Trying to cross a desert on your own, on foot, without water or food and in all that dark armor." The man said with a smile. He had removed his armor as well, and now stood there, wyvern on shoulder staring at him.

Ace sat up on the bed, "Thank you, Zedo, for saving my life."

"It's an honor as well as a duty," he replied methodically, "but to what do I owe such an encounter?"

"The king....the king is dead."

((I realized that for most of you, you may have only played one final fantasy, so I am including a list of jobs for your viewing pleasure. I tried to include all the jobs from as many different final fantasies as possible to give you the widest array of choices possible and remember, multiple characters are encouraged =P. I wish this RP to be as long and beautifully complex as the games are. If there is a job from final fantasy that I did not include that you would like to be, please PM me first and I will decide if you can be. If you would like me to explain more of the races, please PM me.

Physical classes:Your upfront fighters. The best with taking and dealing damage. However, as these classes are mainly specialized, their weak spots can be exploited. Most can wield some sort of ranged weapon.

Warrior-Your basic, run-of-the-mill fighter. Adept with most types of armor and weaponry. Strong offensively and defensively. Cannot perform Magic, and usually have low magic defense. Can wield bows or crossbows.

Monk-Brawler! Has slight self-healing capabilities. Fights with his fists. One of the strongest and fastest classes, but defensive capabilities are crap.

Samurai-Warriors from the far east. Fights with a Great Katana and specializes in killing strokes. They are also one of two classes that can wield greatbows (stronger bows). Offensively, it is tone of the strongest physical classes, but lacks defensively. Can wield greatbows.

Dragoon-Highly nimble and proud warriors from Palance(well, in my world). Wield lances with ease. They can draw power from the wyvern's that they possess to heighten their abilities. Highly offensive, with low defense, however they have high evasion skills and their jump attacks are some of the strongest. Their wyverns can also add their skills in battle, having skills of their own. Some of the older wyverns have discovered the ability to heal and breath elemental fire.

Thief-Highly nimble. Experts with daggers and throwing knives. Their speed and evasion are astounding. Can wield bows or crossbows.

Ninja-Masters of the shadows. Almost impossible to hit, but because of this high evasiveness, their defense is the worst of all the classes. Solid offensively and they possess the abilities of different elemental ninjitsu. They attack using small katana's, usually dual weld. Can wield shuriken.

Archer-Expert marksman. Use their bows to hit from far away. Strong offensively with high evasion. Low defense. Can wield bows, greatbows or crossbows.

Gunner-Expert marksman. Wield guns instead of bows. They are stronger, but tend to be less nimble. Low defense. Can wield pistols(stronger) or rifles(more accurate).

Magical classes:Ah, the mages. Necessities for any major battle. They sit in the back and dish damage or heal. However, their evasiveness and defense are horrible, however they are strong against other magical attacks. Physical classes are needed to defend them. They all wield either rods or staves and their physical offense isn't very good, but they can attack with them. None of them can wield any sort of ranged weapon, but with their magic, why would they need one?

Black Mage-Offensive powerhouses, they have access to the highest forms of black magic(offensive, usually elemental). The strongest mage in terms of offense. Uses rods to heighten their elemental magic.

White Mage-The healer. They have access to the highest forms of white magic(healing spells)including one of the most powerful spells, Holy(one of the few offensive white magic spells). Uses staves to heighten their healing magic.

Summoner-Summons great beasts to help fight for them. The available summons vary from game to game, but the main ones are...Ifrit(fire), Shiva(ice), Leviathan(water), Ramuh/Quetzalcoatl(lightning) and Bahamut(non-elemental). Do a little research to find other summons, or feel free to PM me for more details about this job. Has some healing capabilities and can wield staves to heighten their healing magic, or rods to increase their summoning power.

Geomancer-Mages that use the power of their surrounding to cast magic. They can cast differing spells based on their current environment. Balanced offensively and defensively. They can wield rods for an offensive boost, or staves to boost their defensive/healing magic. Feel free to PM me more about this job as well and be creative, as it is one of the more complicated classes.

Mixed classes:The classes that take the skills of the physical and magical classes to create balanced blends of the two. Although they still have their own weak points, they are a lot harder to exploit. Some can wield a type of ranged weapon.

Red Mage-A mix between a warrior, white mage and a black mage. Has access to most light weapons and armor, but most tend to stay with swords or rapiers for offense, or they can wield rods or staves to heighten their magic usage. As they are a blend of three classes, all of their abilities are severely lessened(i.e. they aren't as strong offensively and defensively as the warrior, they can't access the most powerful magics that black and white mages can, and their magic isn't as strong). They are an extremely useful class for those who want a little bit of everything. Can wield bows or crossbows.

Blue Mage-Warriors that have learned to copy some of the moves of their enemies. Can learn some of the moves used against them. They are a lesser version of warriors, so their offensive and defensive capabilities aren't as high. They generally wield scimitars or swords. Feel free to PM me more about this job as well and be creative, as it is one of the more complicated classes. Can wield bows or crossbows.

Bard-Musicians that use their musical prowess to heighten the skills of their fellow adventurers. They can also cause heavy amounts of damage through their music. They don't wield weapons, instead they have differing instruments. Feel free to be highly creative with this class.

Beast Master-Lesser warriors that have learned the ability to control lesser monsters to help them. Highly versatile, they generally wield one handed axes or greataxes. Feel free to be highly creative with this class. Can wield bows or crossbows.

Dark Knight-Knights, who in their attempt to become more powerful, have learned to wield dark and arcane(crazy, evil magic basically. Feel free to PM me to learn more) magic. Their dark magic skills are less than that of a black mage, closer to that of a red mage, however they are incredibly strong offensively and wield a variety of weapons, but their trademark has become the scythe. Can wield bows or crossbows. They are the strongest class offensively, mixing their incredible strength with their damaging and evil magic. Can make short work of almost any beast. However, their defensive capabilities are almost matching those mages, as they often sacrifice defense for offense. Many of their abilities involve sacrificing some of their own energy in order to perform them(feel free to PM me about this as well). Can wield bows or crossbows.

Paladin-Knights who sacrifice themselves to protect others and have even learned white magic to heal themselves and others. The strongest class defensively, but lacks evasion and offense. Their white magic skills are less than that of a white mage, closer to that of a red mage. They can wield swords, knightswords and greatswords. Most also carry a shield and think white armor. Often will let themselves die before a party member. They can stand even the strongest of physical and magical blows. ))

These words echoed in Zedo's head. He stood still for a moment than said, "W-What do you mean? What King? Surely not... but how?!"

Raiden crooned from his perch on the end of a table, and Zedo nodded, thinking. "Save it, King Encefor would like to hear this. Come on, we move." Zedo made a gesture towards Ace's armor piled neatly in a corner. Ace had been silent while Zedo answered his own questions, but now said, "Right. I'll get ready... but... where the hell's my Scythe?!"

"Oh, I took the liberty of sharpening it for you. It looked a little dull. Come see me once you've dressed." Ace did as instructed and walked to the second entry room of Zedo's comfortabley small home. Zedo had now slid his Azure helmet on and presented Ace with his newly sharpened scythe. It shimmered in the twilight light of Zedo's lamps. "C'mon, let's go," Zedo said turning.

The two friends (plus Raiden) trekked through the many floating gardens, training grounds, and springs of Palance until they reached two massive double doors with ornate dragons carved on each one. The dragons had a gold plating on them, and Zedo stopped and bowed to them upon approach.

"What business?" the left one growled at Zedo, his Sapphire eye staring at the Dragoon.

"Urgency. A neighboring king and friend has been slain."

"What proof?!" The right dragon said, suddenly alerted. Both stones in the carved dragon's eyes turned a brilliant ruby color.

Ace stepped forward from behind Zedo and unravled something from a white cape. It was a white helmet with beautiful carvings on it... and drops of blood tainting its ornate edges. The dragons said nothing more, and the doors swung open. Zedo swallowed hard, and stepped into the grand hall slowly, as King Encefor's throne glided down slowly from a high perch. He looked at the dragoon and Dark Knight solemly and said quietly, "Is it true? My great friend has been slain?"

Ace held out the helmet to King Encefor, who took it, as the Dark Knight began to speak; and the Dragon Knight stood by, a silent tear rolling down his cheek and pooling at the face guard of his helm.

((Drew, you can make as many characters as you want, so yes you could make a party of them if you choose to. I'd prefer if you did it from multiple viewpoints, but if you want to kind of pick one as the leader and go from there, that's up to you. Chris, you can be a choco-knight....but it's kind of silly. It'd be better to pick some other physical class, such as a regular warrior, and be from Zein. That way, you are a warrior, but you can be one of their choco-knights, if you know what I mean. Brad...I have never once said that I wield a scythe. I have a sword and a bow.))

"Yes, the late king of Hueron, my father has been assassinated. Nothing is known about the man who assassinated him, other than that he is a gunner." Ace swallowed hard. He hid his emotions.

"You are the heir to the throne, are you not?" Asked the Dragon King.

"Yes." Was all Ace replied

"Then why are you not there...why are you not helping your people, at a time when they so desperately need you!?" The Dragon King had rose to his feet, his voice below a roar.

Ace swallowed again, "That's the other matter I needed to talk with you about. After the assassination, there was a revolt. There were no casualties , however. A man by the name of Vance Felch has seized the throne for himself, and has declared war on all neighboring countries. The kingdom is now, what Felch calls it, the Felch empire. Anyone opposed to his rule is thrown in jail. I was training on a plain south of the capital when I heard the news. I fled here for help. But, it doesn't make sense. Everyone loved the king, and hardly anyone rose to defend the castle as it was seized. I suspect foul play."

The mighty Dragon King was stunned, a look of shock printed on his face. "And any other news on the matter?" At that moment, a dragoon guard ran in the room, holding an envelope.

"My Lord! My Lord! Word from Balien! They have surrendered to Hueron! They are now apart of the Felch empire!" The guard stood in place, trembling. He'd had delivered bad news to the king before, and he was not one to take it lightly.

The Dragon King's proud face faltered fro a moment, then tightened quickly. He grasped his lance proudly as he rose from his throne. "Men," he said softly, almost solemnly, "today, we shall strike against this foul evil plaguing our land. We will avenge my friend, the true king of Hueron. May his soul rest in peace. Guard."

"Yes sire!"

"Send word to Zein. Tell them all that has happened and ask for their swords in battle." The king's voice had strengthened again. He turned back to Ace. "My boy, I will help you regain your rightful throne. Men! We prepare for war!" Shouts echoed through the chamber. Ace looked down in discomfort. He didn't like the idea of going to war against his homeland.

Ace raised his head, "Sire, give me a chance to mend this."

The king stared peculiarly at Ace. "What do you mean son?"

"Let me take down Felch myself. The less people dead from this, the better. I don't want to see my homeland ravaged by war."

The king sighed heavily. "As you wish. However, we shall fortify our defenses. Should Hueron try to invade, we will not hesitate to fight back."

"Understood." Ace turned and headed out of the room, ready to complete his task.

"My Lord," Zedo, who had been standing silently, suddenly spoke, "let me go with him. He will need someone to watch his back for him."

The Dragon King looked down at Zedo, his finest warrior. "As you wish. Ace, do you accept Zedo's request?"

"It would be an honor."

And with that, they exited the Grand Hall.

He looked on in disgust as the parade continued to march by in the center of Balien's capital city. He was fully covered in black, his pointy ears hidden behind the hood of his thick cloak.

This "empire". It doesn't sit well with me. He thought to himself. But I am bound by my duty, I cannot interfere. I must report back to Luxema.

With that, the mysterious figure was gone. His passing went unseen, just as his arrival.

The warrior sat atop the black chocobo, looking down into a group of emmisaries from the new 'Empire'. The emissaries, upon questioning, had revealed that the new 'Emperor' would be willing to agree to terms of peace for the time being. Everyone in Zein knew they just wanted time to conquer Palance and Luxema before moving on to the mountain regions.

"Give me one good reason why my forces shouldn't slay you!" he shouted down the crags to the group.

"Because we come with a message of peace!" the ringleader shouted up, desperation clear in his voice.

"You come with a message of doom!" he screamed back as the archers in the rocks rained death down on them.

Sogue turned, plated armer clunking behind him as his short blonde hair twisted in the mountain winds. He didn't believe in wearing helmets. Screwed with his vision. The emmisaries let out death-cries from below.

"Stop! Sir!" a lower ranked Scout called to Sogue, offering him a spyglass. Sogue twisted in his mount's saddle, looking over the field leading to the first of the mountain passes.

Hueron soldiers were advancing across the plain leading up to the first of the mountain ridges.

A hard ride later, Sogue was at the operational headquarters, talking to his C.O. the conversation was stunning as his C.O. explained he would be going to Palance to ask for re-inforcements. They would be equipping him with a gold chocobo...who's numbers were in the single digets. The chocobo would be his constant companion until he returned to Zein.
Sogue was in awe, stunned speechless. On the backs of one of those thing, the ride would take a matter of hours.

"There's no time to waste," his C.O. explained.

Within a few minutes of checking his equipment, the nervous Sogue had mounted up and was riding hard toward the desert.

Zedo bowed graciously to the King and said, "Thank you, my Lord."

***

Backtracking through the gardens Zedo stopped in his tracks when a figure approached down the hall. He was not fully armored as Zedo was, he wore simple neat slacks and a nice white shirt and vest. "Ah, Zedo," he said musingly. "What're you up to?"

"Little concern of yours."

"Mmm.. It won't be when you come back bleeding. The White Mages will atleast be keeping busy. My apologies Dark Knight, you seem to have the short end of the Dragoon's Lance here. As far as rank goes, that is. You know I never asked you, Zedo. Why didn't you get promoted to Legendary?"

Ace looked over at Zedo, confused. He did notice that his Dragon Knight friend was dressed in his usual blue Dragon Champion's Armor. Zedo had written to him in a letter how he hoped to be promoted to Legendary when the next met.

"My wyvren cannot fly."

"Mmm. A Wyvren is the direct result of his companion. But you both knew that. Have a safe journey."

And the man left.

Ace was still looking at Zedo, confused, as they walked towards the airship hangars. "I thought you said you and Raiden were..."

"I can't preform a complete Sync with him." Zedo said quietly.
