Vault-Tech Presents:

World News Today!

Vault 101 – Jewel of the Wastes. For 200 years, Vault 101 has faithfully served the surviving residents of Washington DC and its environs, now known as the Capital Wasteland. Though the global atomic war of 2077 left the US all but destroyed, the residents of Vault 101 enjoy a life free from the constant stress of the outside world. Giant Insects, Raiders, Slavers, and yes, even Super Mutants are all no match for superior Vault-Tech engineering.

If you are from the vault you have the schooling and knowledge very few from the outside world have ever heard of, though you are physically weaker then out-landers due to your softer childhood.

=========================

The only other know city near to the Vault is know as Megaton. A junk town meant for those who could sadly not afford the safety and luxuries of Vault-Tech. The people here have survived since the doors sealed to the Vaults some 200 years ago. The out-landers of megaton built their city around an old and dead nuclear bomb, using the radioactive give-off to fuel low forms of technology. They have met few Vault-dwellers and like even fewer of the luxury born.

Out-landers of Megaton may not have skills and smarts but they make up for it with muscle and the ability to survive in the harshest environments.

Weapons: Ava doesn't carry any weapons with her. Anyhow, she's still in school, and so, the school doesn't allow weapons.
Other: Ava has a fear of dogs because of an incident with a dog when she was younger. A ferocious dog had bitten her on her left arm, and the scar is still there.
========

Out-landers:

Gaia-Name: Otulissa
Name: Lyndsey "Lyn" Cornan

User Image
Strengths: Lyndsey is fast on her feet and she's pretty strong. She can fist-fight, as well as throw daggers and shoot with a gun. Lyn is a sharp shooter.
Weaknesses: Lyndsey is very impulsive, and that's her weakness. Sometimes she acts without thinking, or jumps to conclusions without evidence. She claims to be following her "instincts," but her instincts aren't always correct.
Bio: Lyndsey lived in Megaton for most of her life, and wandered from place to place after moving out of her parents house. She didn't really have a close relationship with her parents as a kid, and so, left once she was 17. Now, she never talks to her parents. She has a younger brother, but he disappeared. No one knows where he is ever since he was gone (when she was 15 and he was 12).
Weapons: A handgun and 2 daggers.
Other: Lyn owns a motorcycle, which is her pride and joy.

Gaia-Name: Zahth
Name: Riikert Aldawin
Age: 27
Appearance:
User Image
Strengths: Mechanical know-how, crack shot with a carbine as well as battle-hardened to melee combat.
Weaknesses: Doesn't care for the deep logistics of surviving in a such a waste-land, isn't skilled in computer equipment nor is he tactful when in conversation.
Bio: Born in the waste-lands outside Megaton Riikert has long know hardship. His parents brought him to megaton, within the first few years of his life his mother passed due to radiation poisoning {something not uncommon in the region anymore}. His father decided to raise him to be strong and fierce, shirking things like mathematics and sciences Riikert learned to fight. After his twentieth birthday Aldwin left Megaton in search of something greater then just patrolling the small secluded community. He disappeared for the next seven years, whispers and notes came back to megaton every few months of what he had done or where he'd been seen.

The last know place he'd reportedly been spotted was near to where the lost vault number 101 had supposedly been buried. It is wondered if he traveled there in search of treasure to loot from the lost vault or maybe he had finally found that one thing that had tugged at him for the last nearly decade.
Weapons: M1 Carbine Machete
Other: seems to have an uncanny immunity to low levels of radiation.

There was a quiet thump as his shovel hit cut into the earth and rock. His muscles flexed and he tossed another few pounds of dirt over his shoulders into an every growing pile. He'd been in this region for a few days, trying to no avail in finding the lost Vault of 101. Of course this wasn't some crazy random search he'd spent the last few years traveling around the eastern wastelands trying to figure uncover anything that might lead him to the vault. With a heavy sigh he looked up from his worked and glanced around, knowing that he could never drop his guard in the wastelands. He shifted and slammed the shovel into the earth to prop it up, then made his way over to a small satchel to the side of the dirt mound. Squatting down he riffled through the bag trying to find something that had of course sunken to the very bottom.

"Every time with you." He muttered to the object he sought, finally pulling free an very fragile looking envelope.

Flicking the lip open he pulled out an old yellowed map, a map from before the war two centuries ago. This was a relic by any standards, something that had survived the nuclear war and fallout that had warped the world into what it was today. Of course none of that really dawned on Riikert Aldwin as he moved away from the pile, the satchel and his shovel. He came to the lip of a place marked as "look-out point" by an old metal sign that had weathered time more then most everything else in the area. Riikert chuckled as he looked down to the map then back up to his surroundings, he was supposedly on a few hundred meters from vault 101. He looked to the major landmark on the map 'highway 555" whatever that was, all he could see from here was a long ruined bridge and the massive road it had once supported.

"I wonder what this place looked like before it turned into the s**t-hole I got stuck with." Aldwin spat as he turned back to his shovel and his inevitable task of digging.

((I am going to assume that the time of the year is early summer; is that okay? I am also assuming that the school year is ending soon. razz ))

Ava sighed as she sat in her assigned seat at school. It was the last day. Yes, the last day of school, and the next day would be the beginning of summer break. Summer break was finally almost here! All the students chattered excitedly, all the girls wearing identical uniforms, and all the guys wearing identical uniforms. The school uniforms were grey with red bows/ties. Even though everyone dressed the same, they still had little bits of originality spread throughout their clothes. One girl was wearing a charm bracelet with many dangling charms, and a guy had his right ear pierced. There was a girl wearing cute, hot pink sandals, and another girl wearing mismatching, striped socks. Also, all the students had varying hairstyles to express themselves. Ava's long black hair was pinstraight and had straight-cut bangs. She rolled her blue eyes as the class clown made a joke that she did not find funny in the least. The teacher scolded him for being noisy, and he quickly sat down. Some students glanced at the clock, awaiting the time when the period would end, and their next period would begin...and they would get closer to the end of the school day.

{{school years fine just remember one of your characters will hopefully run into my guy some time soon razz }}

Riikert awoke from his sleep with a start, pulling a long knife from his shoe as he stood straight before he was even fully awake. He froze, for a moment he was not sure why he was standing nor why he held one knives in a white-knuckled hand. He looked around and off over the steep cliff-face that was close to his camp. Aldwin almost began to relax until he finally heard what had awoke him, a loud clicking and scuttling over the side of the cliff. He edge closer and peeked over, quickly recoiling when he spotted a black mass scaling the cliff. He had a feeling he knew what it was and would rather just back away from a fight with the thing rather then risk his life for his camp.

That pause cost him though and the thing crested the cliff, pincers snapping, many feet scuttling and clicking along the rough stone. A giant scorpion was one of the nastiest things that had come from the fallout of the wars so long ago. They had some how grown to massive sizes, this one roughly two meters in length from pincer to stinger. Riikert rolled fast to the side as the pincer snapped in to grasp him and bring him close to the the waiting maw of the thing. His knife clacked off the side of one of those massive claws, barely leave a nick in the things exoskeleton. Glancing around he spotted his carbine, sadly behind the thing and it might has well have been thousands of miles away at that point.

The thing let out a roar, something sounding akin to a dozen people draginging pipes through gravel, and rushed toward it's prey. Riikert backed and dodged until his back hit stone, he ducked the stinger and noted the odd clang the stinger made as it hit the wall. His hand reached out for anything to strike at the thing, his fist wrapping around the shaft of something to the side. His hand swung around and he stabbed for the massive scorpion's mouth, only realizing as the shovel's blade cut into the things face what he had managed to grab. The blade became stuck part way into the beasts face and it began to shudder and flail, stumbling back as it felt the bite of the improvised weapon. It's footing on so secure and it's attention away from Riikert he shouldered it over the cliff and watched with satisfaction as it splattered on the rocks far below.

"Not just good for digging." He muttered as he moved back to the wall and brushed a hand across the point the scorpion had stuck.

The dust flecked off from the metal sheet and it was not difficult for Riikert to find a seem along the rock and eventually pry it free. This was a hidden slate of rock that lead into a large cave, the young man's excitement began to build even as he gathered his things and moved into the dark cavern. Pulling forth a small lantern he grimaced as he light the fuel, knowing that he only had a few minute before the precious gas burned away. He didn't need it though for the cave was not that deep but the back wall was more then worth the price of the gas he would burn here. He stared at the cog like surface of a massive circular door, which in and off itself proved something valuable and impressive. None of that compared to the what was actually on the door itself, Crafted into the massive door were the numbers one-zero-one.

{{figured I'd just get that whole thing out of the way.}}

Lyndsey Cornan pushed the brakes on her prized motorycle, the machine coming to a grinding halt. As the motorcycle stopped, Lyndsey swung herself over the seat, and then stepped off the motorcycle. The engine buzzed for a few seconds, but soon, the engine was silent. Lyndsey grinned, patting the handle bar of her motorcycle as she started pushing it manually across a sidewalk that was not in very good condition. Her light brown hair swayed in the gentle early-summer wind as she pushed her motorcycle casually. But, below Lyndsey's casual exterior, her inner ruggedness was keeping her eyes and ears and other senses peeled; she would be quick to defend herself if anyone should attempt to hurt her or steal her motorcycle. Just the week before, she had a nasty run-in with a local bully.
