I think it's an upper for the AR system.
Although, the page says it's not an evolution of something, so I dunno.

Anyways, detach.-mag. .338 Lapua FTMFW!

EDIT: Oh yeah, I think that's one of Magpul's grips for 2009.

No way. Look at the way the lower flows into the buttstock. That s**t be custom.

Hmm. Maybe.

If you look at the second picture from the bottom left though, there's a line which might indicate a lower and upper.
Of course, that doesn't mean it's an AR, but just my thoughts.
I'm probably wrong though, usually am.

Could very well be loosely based on an AR, that's for sure. It's a wonderful base design, very easy to take apart and reassemble. There's no way that's a drop-in mod though.

Now that I think about it more, I think it'd be a rather silly idea.
Wouldn't there be more vibrations, and thus less accuracy at the 1k yard range, if it was split in half?

If made poorly perhaps, but not if it was built correctly.

Looks good, but: it needs more .338 Lapua.

Let's compare:

180 grain .308; BC of .474 at 2,700 FPS.
250 grain .338 Lapua: BC of .768 at around 3,000 FPS.

The higher the BC, the flatter it flies.

Well yeah, but;

180 gr (12 g) Nosler partition 2,900 ft/s (880 m/s) 3,315 ft·lbf (4,495 J)

30-06 is .308?
