One herd ground is not enough for the members of Carnivàle - and neither are the resources that only one would provide. They travel the land, exchanging their strange and exciting acts for temporary food and shelter - though that is merely on the surface. Under the guidance of the alpha female, they find ways to swindle. Gambling is very common, as is betting and outright sneaking things straight off another soq without them even realizing. The magic in diverting attention.

The woman in charge is Magic Trick, an entrepreneur in her own right. She has the morally unsavory task of using her charm to gather the misfits and outcasts of Soquili and exploit them for her personal gain. As well, she's been known to turn on the charm for some male audience members, only to rob them blind of anything of value. Only recently did this behavior go too far, but she's taking it in stride.

At least, until her foals come out of their baskets...
