All in all, not bad. It looked like they were trying to rip off Constantine in the ads, but in the end it stayed pretty faithful to the Max Payne storyline. Lots of gun porn, few errors. Mila Kunis tries to breach a door with an MP5, and Max Payne fires off two rounds from a Mossberg 500 (first one from an open bolt, BTW) before another guy's G36 can cycle another round on full auto. Lots of gun porn though. Especially the credits. The end credit sequence is all of the guns firing in slo-mo, one by one. Very niftah.

Also, I have just been informed that Mark Wahlberg is a convicted felon. Nice.

I kind of wanted to see it.

I didn't know Wahlberg was a felon, though. He was in Shooter, too, and I liked that one a lot.

It wasn't bad at all, if you're just in it for in-your-face gun action and people dying horribly in large numbers.

My dad actually wrote a letter to the BATF asking them why Wahlberg is allowed to flaunt firearms in the faces of millions when he's legally not allowed to touch them. The answer came back "We think they're fake, and we can't be ******** to actually investigate."

ninja Wahlberg was in shooter too... ninja

Anyway if it has your approval then it's probably a good movie. I never played the games though.

I haven't either. Just recently heard from another source that they butchered the Max Payne plot to make the movie, but if you've never played the game, then you wouldn't notice. It was definitely worth the money. There was actually one point where he was firing full auto, dual wielding of MP5s and getting massive accuracy and penetrating ballistic vests, and the voice in my head that says "that's such bullshit" was getting drowned out by the other voice saying "THAT'S SO ******** AWESOME."

That never happens.

I remember when the first Max Payne title was all the rage on the CrapUSA gamer computer demos back when it came out. Nice action. Lots of carnage. Unique among FPS titles at the time.

And anything featuring more Mila Kunis gets a thumbs up from Floyd!

As for Markie Mark, I doubt anyone at a studio prop room would let him touch a working gun. After a couple of high profile suicide by stupidity by two well known actors, studio execs got scared straight and made sure stunt guns were as harmless as the prop folks could make them.

One actor put the muzzle of a revolver to his temple and pulled the trigger, knowing a blank was in the chamber. The concussion of the blast smashed his skull and killed him. Can't think of his name, but since he's dead, who cares?

Wow, that's good old fashion stupidity.

I watched a character in an anime get shot with a blank (further details would spoil) and he was fine. I was thinking "Yeah, right, if he's not dead he's at least got horrible face-burns."

Yeah, I was thinking that too.

Actually, I know Brandon Lee (son of Bruce Lee) died via blank. They'd used squibs as dud rounds, and the blank pushed the bullet out of the barrel and shot him.

Basically, its The Matrix meets the Mobs of New York and the war on drugs

You're a DEA undercover agent in New York, who's family was killed by druggies while high on a fictional drug called Valkyr. Three years later, there is a break in the case and Max Payne starts killing everyone that is holding a gun (except police, although you never see any in the game).

So it's kind of like the Punisher except how the family was killed?

If you watch the extras in the Shooter DVD... Marky Mark actually went to a very prominent firearm training course. And fired many, many rounds ( real, live... kill you if they hit you) rounds. So, they violated how many laws training him for that movie?

What's he a felon for anyway?
