Crashing

Whenever I play the sims my game will get slow and start jumping, and then all of a sudden the game will freeze and crash/sometimes the whole computer just shuts down and restarts.
My computer has done this since I downloaded seasons, which was long ago. I have all expansions, expect AL, and I have Family Life and Teen Life.
It is rather odd. I have 241 MB of CC. I don't know what my graphics card is, but my dad bought me a computer just for the sims 2. its rather annoying. I usually save right when it starts to go slow, but sometimes I can't get there in time and it is annoying to play for like 6 hours and then you lose everything...

I read an article the other day on MTS2 that said graphics cards can cause all of these symptoms when put under too much stress.
That's a possible cause.

Alright, thanks. That's what I feared. I just feel bad because he went out and bought me a new computer, then it doesn't work... Man....
