I want a semi-auto .308 and I am stuck between either the FN FAL or the CETME. Which is better, what are average prices, and where can I find them? (other than the interwebz of course)

Well the CETMEs I could find on a quick search.

~700?

Those FN FALs couldn't find anything other than parts kits and the Israeli one.

Check it with highest price first.

Upwards of 2k+.

Maybe for a Full-auto FAL but This one is only $700

Why not get a Springfield M1A?

Support our best military arsenal and have a piece of genuine US technology!

And almost every damn gun shop around here still has a half dozen of each model in stock.

eek
Those were full auto?
... ok yeah, nevermind.

Hmm, in my personal opinion I'd still go with the CETME.
There's something off putting to me with the FAL.

I'll probably go with the CETME, I like the look a whole lot better.

BTW, you might want to check out AIMsurplus.com 's 8mm deal. 340 rounds on strippers for only $99 and $0.01 shipping to the 48 states.

... .01 shipping?
Is this some kind of a joke?

Do they have Yugoslavian surplus 7.62x39?
I saw one place that had it but I think it was cheaperthandirt but they want $15 S&H. Nope they don't, anyway I suppose it's still a good deal over there since they all come with stripper clips.

Whoa, it's not at dirt, it's at sportsmans.
biggrin I can give the whole shipping thing a miss.

Lol, I think you misunderstood me. The 0.01 shipping is a special deal for the 8mm ammo only.

I vote FAL. I've sued one before, and it was very accurate. It was built off of an Imbel kit.

I've also used an M1A SOCOM II, those rails are a ********. If you get an M1A (good rifle, can't pick between the two), get one with a PLAIN stock, or if you must, only one rail.

Dear lord people! Need I remind you that 16 year-olds don't have s**t-loads of cash!?!?!?

I am settled on the CETME it looks a lot better, appears to have a better aftermarket, and they are just about the same price if not cheaper...

haha if you find a FA FAL for 2 grand, you're some kind of miracle worker.

those 2k+ FALs are DSA, who make some pretty nice stuff according to the internet. they're semi-auto only. FALs are pretty expensive because the receivers are more complicated to machine compared to others.

beware when buying CETME things, a lot of what you're seeing is probably intended for G3s and variants and might require some fitting.

inconsequential

I love my Cetme. But good luck finding one other than online, I got lucky as hell when I found mine.
