It was so dark in there. Lamya sat in the soft sand at the foot of the cliffs, with her pale eyes focused entirely on the great, black shape in front of her. She wondered, idly, how caves came to be. This one was especially huge, when compared to the others higher up, and positively terrifying. There was no telling what kind of things might be found inside. She shivered with a mixture of delight and anxiety, and was torn between venturing into the darkness or staying where it was light.

The young lioness was attached to shadow and, so, she thrived in the sun. Shadows couldn't exist inside the caves, because there was no light. If she went inside, the blackness would swallow her whole. Nobody would be able to see her.

For somebody who loved to hide, this was a promising idea. Yet, she was frightened. What if she went in too far, and couldn't find her way back? Who would save her?

No one, that's who.

Oh, sure. Her family would worry themselves silly if she went missing, but Lamya was so confident in her sneaking abilities that she suspected she would be lost forever.

She considered the dark, gaping entrance of the cave with her head titled to the side and took a couple of tentative steps forwards. There was still a great deal of space and sand between her charcoal colored paws and the empty blackness, but Lamya seemed dead set on seeking some kind of adventure within.

Auri'Jicho had been watching the female for only a few minutes now, the movement out of the corner of his eye attracting his attention. He had found himself a small tide-pool to observe on his tentative journey down the beach, and was leaning in to peer a little closer at a periwinkle when he was distracted. He rather loved these sorts of structures himself, a whole environment confined in a mere pool of water. All that occurred, he could watch over. Sometimes he pretended himself a god, able to be passive or an active force in this world. But then things like this would happen, he would be distracted by the outside, and he would be reduced to powerless Auri again. It was a hard truth.

Not without some curiosity, his golden eyes followed the dark girl's path, up to the dark mouth of the cave. There he flinched a little. It looked scary! Sure, he happened to live in a cave, but that didn't mean every cave was home material. Clicking his teeth together thoughtfully without opening his mouth, he glanced back to the female. Surely she wasn't...

As she started forward, panic welled up in the male. Forgetting for the moment that he was particularly shy with people he didn't know, he tore himself away from the tide-pool and started for the rocks. "Don't!"

Oh, yes, she was. Lamya hadn't the slightest clue she was being watched, but the longer the other youth stared, the closer she got to the mouth of the giant cave. The pale eyed girl blinked in surprise when a strange voice squeaked at somebody, though she couldn't be sure, to stop. She turned in the direction of the noise, and was honestly surprised at the site of the little boy running towards her.

"Don't what?" she asked him, once he was near enough to hear. Her forehead was a knot of confusion. What was this stranger so worked up for?

They were in a secluded area, farther down the beach than she had every travelled before. Now that she'd made it this far, she couldn't possibly leave without exploring! There was no telling what new things she might find.
