Why do we hate the DEagle?

I noticed that some people here dont like it, why is that?

I don't like it because it's terribly front-heavy, over-sized, has jamming problems. And it doesn't do anything a Magnum revolver can't do better, for cheaper, more accurately.

I mean, really, all that being said, what's even the point? It looks cool? I used to think so, but there are better-looking guns that are better in general, and again--cheaper.

1911 - $700-900ish

I'd take a 1911 in .45 or 10mm over a DEagle any day of the week. Maybe a Kimber Eclipse II. Or a Smith M&P R8.

Deagles are like pimped out SUVs. Most have them around to draw attention to themselves in the worst possible ways.

If they were better balanced and more reliable, they would still be just another big a** pistol.

And as has already been noted, you can buy a Colt .45 semi-auto for less than half and have a nice reliable gun.

So, the fact that its has a terribly over sized round for the human hand makes it unlikeable? O.o

I think its one of those, "Mine's bigger then yours" attitude for someone who owns a Deagle. Yeah, a .44 mag rounds kewl, the the minute an average person thinks .50 cal, they think of the Barret rifle, and any referenced or association with what some would think a BMG round in a handgun, they automatically think its awesome.

Hell, when i was a gun newb, that's what i thought. I wondered, "Who'd they get such a big bullet in such a small gun?"

I still love the clip of the chick trying to fire an Eagle one-handed- and the gun recoiling back so hard it hit her in the face and almost broke her nose. It's as funny as the guy's rocket launcher "launching" from his hands.

Seriously, though, the Model .500's got more firepower than the Eagle, looks nicer, and it's almost $700 cheaper.

If you can't do it with five, you can't do it with the seven plus one from the Desert Eagle.

Anyways... I think a hand-cannon would be pretty fun to have.
BUT... I'd take a 10mm over .50 AE just about any day.

EDIT: The S&W costs only $300 less for the cheaper model for their MSRPs.
Used Desert Eagles can generally be found for a grand used, though. At least up here.
For what it's worth: I held one of these at a store though. I was surprised, I actually thought it would be a little heavier. Of course, it's heavy enough that it'd fatigue on me pretty easily. >.<
It'd probably make a pretty nice squirrel rifle.

As far as I'm concerned, if the pistol comes factory with sling attachments...

IIRC, a DEagle won't actually hold +1. The magazine is fiddly if it's inserted on a closed bolt, and jams easily.

I remember the words "free-floating" in there, but they weren't followed by "barrel". They might have been followed by "magazine", but I don't recall. I think it's possible (and extremely easy) to put the magazine in too far on a closed bolt, causing the rounds to misfeed and jam until you fix it.
