I gots duh PSL.

No pictures yet since I got it home yesterday at... 5 or so.

I broke it down it wasn't too complicated.
It was full of dried and crusty cosmoline however the return spring was covered in wetter cosmo, possibly oil too.

I took out the bolt and the piston and what I thought was rust inside there was just dried and caked on cosmo. What a relief.
But it seems that there's a bit that I can't quite remove so perhaps there may be a bit of rust in there, or really stubborn cosmo, I may have to soak it in solvent. I just don't know how to remove the wood from the metal part.


There is one detail that is kind of annoying me.
I got two mags but one has a small hole rusted through it as well as some other parts on it.
I'm thinking about saying something but as long as the description says that the rifle is in good condition, they may not be liable for s**t.
One of the mags does seem to be a in brand new condition which is fortunate for me, and them.


Oh s**t, this isn't chatterbox stuff.
Does anyone have the power to move the thread to the main? Do it.

look at it this way, call and complain... about the mags...

the worst they can say is no, best outcome thou is they send you a free mag... or a discount...

complaining is how i got my $500 phone for free.

I called, they said that a lot of the magazines that come with it are pitted and were cleaned over and refinished. But again, since I would rather not have a magazine with a ******** hole in it and also since the description of the firearm is, "in excellent condition" I'd rather have both of the mags show it.

I did luck out with one since it appears to be in factory new condition.

They're going to send out a new one today I guess.

In other news, the guy that handled the transfer has Enfield revolvers.

Ooo Enfield No 2 Mk 1 revolver in .380 Enfield or... was it .38? I think .38
I didn't ask if he ever got Webleys or Enfields in .455.
A break loading revolver like that just seems so awesome to me.

I'm thinking about, if he is willing, to trade one of those for my Walther P1 and perhaps my bayonet as well.
But since the Walther technically belongs to my mother, she'll have to come in... but I will need a handgun permit though. I should get it anyway since it apparently also covers 'assault weapons'.
Also, it's free and lasts a year. At least, for now it is.

Well, I'm gonna try and go to the Stillwater Armory gun show to see what they have for ammunition.
Maybe someone can help me with the Walther deal.
Do you think $420 for a P1 is okay?
Leather holster 2 extra mags and a set of wood grips? With the original plastic ones of course.

Well, perhaps. But I did have to pay for it.
Also, until I get another safe or turn my whole room into one I don't think I'll be getting anymore.
I don't think I really can.

... maybe I could turn my den into a huge safe... fill the spaces between the walls with concrete or some s**t and install a good ******** door.

Sounds like an idea to me.

Well that is true Fresnel.

I've never heard of robbers breaking through walls before... Perhaps re-enforce the room with brick? It's still a lot cheaper than buying a safe.

Edit: apparently wall studs are placed 16" or 24" apart, so I doubt breaking through a wall would be of much use to a robber.

The advantage to a safe is that they're generally both fire and waterproof. Also, unless the door opens in to your closet (which most closet doors don't), you have the option of popping the hinges off the door.

Now if you have a hurricane proof block safe room with a steel door, that's a different story. My custom home plans include either a first floor concrete block cell for storm survival or a basement configured for the same level of security.
