She knew where she was going. She was heading toward the borders of the pride. Her mind was set to heading out and venturing around in the rouge lands like she used to. She hadn't done it in a while, and she figured since it was a nice time in the afternoon and the sun was out and no bad clouds were in the sky, well why not?
But she didn't know that this exploration was going to be on delay. She was going to have a run in, one that she had been meaning to do. With Aapep back, they both found out that they liked eachother more than they first figured. So now she knew she wanted to meet with his mother. But every time they talked about it, it was never done. She had been in such a good mood lately, with Aapep home, Taka and her getting along better than ever and her mother happy, she was in such a good mood.
She flicked her hair out of her face as she slowly walked toward the borders. Looking around as she did. A smile grew slowly on her face, feeling the wind around her, enjoying the slowness of the day.

Things had gotten brighter for Kirjava, ever since she had taken the journey with her youngest son. Her mind and heart were at ease with the knowledge that Ravi was safe and that she had grandcubs. While she was sadden at the fact that she had not been there for Ravi in his time of need, she would always have that regret with her till the end of time. There was nothing he could say or do that would take it back, and the scars that he bore were just constant reminders of something she could of had prevented. Although she had mended her relationship with her eldest son and that was a huge burden that had been lifted from her chest.
Although the best part of the whole trip was not only see Aapep grow right before her eyes but to see her legacy live on in not only Aapep but Ravi and his family. It was reassuring to know that even after she had passed on that her legacy was still here.
But enough of those depressing thoughts, she had to look at the brighter side. Aapep had been so antsy ever since he had gotten closer and closer to where they had started. And she had a feeling it had to be his friend he constantly talked about. As much as she was happy for him, she was still weary. Even now, being so close to the border of the pride that Aapep went back and forth through, still put her on edge. Her ears flicked back and forth nervously as her eyes scanned the area, looking for any sign of trouble...or her son.

Mawi Mai let out a small sigh as she looked around. She decided that before she went anywhere else it might be smart to figure out where she was going to be going. Yeah, that might be a good idea. She looked a little north from where she was standing, she closed her eyes for a moment, enjyoing the feeling of the breeze once more.
But when she opened her eyes something, or some one caught her eyes.
She was slightly caught off gaurd to see a female moving acorss the land, a darker color female. She paused and started to think. She wasn't that sure if she had ever seen this female, she was more than sure that she wasn't part of the pride, but something about her looked fimmlar.
She started to head in the other female's direction, a smile on her face as she did. As she got closer the duo tone of the female reminded her of Aapep, and as she took in some of the air she noticed that the scent was close to Aapep's. She made a small face, not sure if it was really his mother, the one her and Aapep were talking about for all of this time running into. But at the same time she knew that it wasn't Aapep himself.
"Hello!" She called out greating the other female as cheerfully as she could. The same smile that she normally had on her face was of course like always plastered across her maw.

Caught offguard at the approach of the other female, Kirjava tensed a bit before found her gaze shifted towards a female heading her way. With the cheerful greeting, she relaxed a bit. She shouldn't be so jumpy, her son had told her gently. Perhaps her age was catching up with her afterall.
Not wanting to appear rude, she greeted the lioness back. "Hi." And then she added, "I hope I'm not intruding...I was just on my way to meet my son." She kept her demeanor light, not knowing anything about the lioness before her but her past had made her weary of others. And she could tell that this was a pridal cat by the multitudes of scents that clung to the female.

Mawi Mai was slightly surprised at how the female reacted at first, she could catch the small tension that was in the air for the quick moment, but then as the other female greeted her with a nonthreatening voice she grinned. Feeling pretty relaxed with running into the new female, she had never met her before but she still had that feeling like she some how knew her. She moved forward just a little bit more, shifting her stance as she did, feeling her drum slip down so it was hanging in the middle of her neck, then as she flicked her tail behind her she heard her shakers rattle, a sound she was so used to. A sound that brought music with her every where she went and caught so many other's attention.
"Oh no! Your not intruding on anything." A smile flashed on her maw. "Everyone here is very welcoming. We've had many come around here." She looked the female over once more then met her gaze. "Son? Are you looking for Aapep?" It was a try, if she was thinking right like she hoped she was then this was the female she had been meaning to meet. The idea made her grin even more.

At the female's response, Kirjava felt herself stiffen automatically. This lioness knew her son's name! Fear slowly crept over her, gnawing at her mind. What if something happened to him? What if this lioness was just trying to gain her trust and trick her? It's happened once before, and she wouldn't let that happen again.
But she was also being silly. Not every pride out there was bad, and this lioness could be genuine. She kept her composure, not wanting to let her past get the better of her as she slowly asked, "You...know my son?" Her son had spoke of friends he had made within this pride that he wanted her to join. Perhaps this was one of them? But what was she doing out here...unless she had gotten too close to the border? "I hope he hasn't been getting into any trouble." She sighed softly.

Mawi Mai was slightly confused as she could feel the other's fear in the air she wasn't that sure why at all. She arched a small brow but it relaxed once more her face becoming friendly once more when the older female talked.
She smiled at the females question, she couldn't help but to giggle a bit. "I'm taking that as a yes." She nodded to the female before sitting down. "Yes I do know your son, and he hasn't been getting into trouble, no Ma'am. Not him." She smiled softly the nodded to her once more. "My name is Mawi Mai, you might have heard of me." She chuckled a bit as she grinned at the female. She knew that Aapep told his mother of her, she was pretty sure of it. "And if you are Aapep's mom its nice to finally meet you." She grinned as she sat back on her haunches.

Crimson eyes widen with recognition at the name. Aapep had spoke non-stop about his one bestest friend, and her she was, face-to-face with said friend. What a small world, Kirjava mused slightly. Not wanting the lioness to get the wrong idea about herself, she gave Mawi a small smile. "Forgive me, my past sometimes catches up with me when I don't want it to." Cryptic and not meant to be fully understood by the youth, but it was explicit enough to let the other know that she's had an awful youth that has made her very weary and mistrustful.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Mawi Mai. I had not expected to meet your or anyone for the pride for some time...I needed time to mentally prepare myself," She paused briefly before she introduced herself, "I'm Kirjava. And of course, you were the one that I heard the most about during the whole trip. Aapep had been so excited about making friends that he had told me all about it...along with trying to convince me to join the pride with him since he tells me that this place is his home." Home, it was a concept she did not fully understand since she's never had a permanent other than the time she was a slave in the desert.

Mawi Mai smiled brighter when she saw the other female's reaction. She was glad that indeed Aapep told his mother about her, that made her happy. She flicked her tail behind her again just for the sound of the rattle, something she did unconsciously even though she was standing there having a conversation, she wanted to fill the silence, hear music or something close. "Its perfectly understandable, I don't mind at all." She nodded. "Everyone is welcomed into our pride, females a little more that males, but still both are always welcomed into this pride." As long as she could remember others were welcomed into the pride. She loved seeing new pride memebers, even if they were just born into the pride.
"The pleasure is mine!" She giggled slightly then flicked her hair out of her eyes. "I've been wanting to meet you for a while, Aapep talks about you a lot." She then repeated the lionesses name a few times in her mind, in a attempt to remember it. She knew she would but she would hate to forget it. "Well, I really do hope you might think of this pride home too, Kirjava." She nodded to her, she'd love to have Aapep around more and if his mother was here he would be able to spend more time around the pride. That made her happy, also so far Kirjava seemed bery nice, she was pretty sure that her mother would get along with her.

As the lioness spoke, Kirjava could feel herself loosening up. Mawi seemed so happy to meet her and she couldn't really see a reason why she would do any harm. It was just hard for her to drop all her barriers around others besides her family. Perhaps this is what she needed, a place to finally help her heal her broken spirit. "That's what I've been told. The idea is so foreign to me that I cannot grasp it like Aapep can."
Her ears perked forward, "I don't know if I could ever call a place home, but I want to try...for my sons. I know Aapep doesn't like moving around all the time like me and I don't want to make him or my other son unhappy." Both her sons had found prides to live in and she didn't understand the idea of living in a pride, but she wanted to. "Can you...tell me about your pride?" She hesitantly asked.

Mawi Mai could feel some of the tension drop from the other lioness. that made her feel a little better. She loved it when others were confortable, it made her feel the same way. She kneeded her paws in and out of the sand a bit, a smile steadily growing back up on her face. She was glad to hear that she wanted to make her children happy, she loved the idea of Aapep being more happy and possibly staying here.
"Well, our pride is baised on music, you see everything around you has a Rythem. Everything including you. One main part of our pride is finding our rythems and well living with them. Music, singing and dance are the main parts. Everyone takes care of their own children. I heard that some other prides have nannies...." Her voice trailed she was getting off topic. "We are like a large family, I don't know anyone that doesn't get along. The best ones to ask bout the pride is Nsundu or my mother Isithunzi. They are the leaders of the pride." She smiled softly.
"We love new members others wanting to find their rythem." She then laughed slightly before smiling and shaking her head. "We arn't the biggest pride that's for sure."

Her ears perked forward as Kirjava listened to Mawi. The ideas she spoke of were so very foreign to her. Music? She has never really heard of such a thing and to think, that a whole pride was based on it was definitely something she's never fathomed before. "Music...I must admit, that is a new one to me. I don't think I've ever heard that before."
She made sure to remember the names, she would have to go and speak with the leaders about this pride. She would have to get a feel for it, it would take time but she was determined. "A small pride is good. Too big and then it doesn't feel like a pride, but just a place where you live and know a few lions." She paused to ask, "Is everyone equal? You don't have slaves, do you? What is your roll in the pride?"

Mawi wasn't really surprised when Kirjava said that she didn't konw what music was, with so many others that she ran into very few knew about music. She shifted her drum and put a paw on it. "Music is... Well something you could dance to. Singing is music." Then she flicked her tail a few times hearing the rattle of it. "Or using instruments, like my drum," She patted softly on her drum "Or my shakers." She grinned as she shook her tail a little more.
"Music is very beautiful, follows a rythem. And everything has a rythem." She smiled softly as she moved her paw back on the ground. "If you do join, there are many others that will be around to help you. Aapep has learned a good amount too."
Then the questions came, she loved the questions. She loved seeing new ones in the pride and the idea of Aapep joining and even his mother joining made her so happy. "No slaves at all. We don't have them." she shook her head. "Of course there are ones in charge leaders but that is for order, but other than that no one is better than the others." What was her role in the pride? She paused before laughing just softly. "Well I am apprenticed under my mother, she is the drum-maker of the pride, and is a teacher of sorts. Otherwise I normally just help around, you know hunt and join in with the music and gatherings."
She then chuckled. "Everyone here is very welcoming, I don't know many that have a attitude." She smiled softly again, she didn't want her to feel unconfortable with coming here. Not at all.

At Mawi's explanation of music, Kirjava wasn't sure if she fully understood but it didn't matter. It seemed like something that would take more time for her than others...like her son. It wasn't until Mawi had continued talking about music when she noticed all the items that had adorned the lioness. Her gaze took them in, "Your items are very pretty...I guess you use them to make your music." It was more of a statement to herself than to Mawi. But she perked up, "Aapep knows music?" That must be what he was doing when he snuck away to go and visit Mawi.
And as the rest of the answers came, she felt herself more at ease to what the other lioness was telling her. No slaves...everyone is basically equal. "Well that is very reassuring. Not many places that I've travelled too have been as welcoming as to what you're describing." A soft sigh escaped from her, weary spread throughout her body. She was getting too old for everything and the idea of a place to call her own was just so very tempting.
"I would like to meet your mother sometime, it would be good to get acquainted with her," She paused before smiling slowly at the female, "Do you spend a lot of time with Aapep? Does he know many here in the pride?"

Mawi Mai smiled at her compliment. "Thank you, most of them I made myself, except for the one on my tail, that was my first shaker after that I learned how to do it myself." She grinned proudly and looked down but got distracted by her next question. "Oh! I guess he hasn't told you, that isn't good." She chuckled slightly. "But yes he does."
She smiled to her once more her relaxation made her feel better, she could also feel herself relax. "I'm glad that its making you feel a little/ She grinned slightly before flicking her tail behind her once more then nodding. "I've heard of some of the other places, horrible, some of them really." She sighed and shook her head at the idea of it.
"Ah! She is very easy to find. Pink-eyed, markings like mine. She's just gray in color." She nodded too that, she loved her mother, and she knew tthat her mother was normally very friendly. She wasn't a bit fan of her siblings other than Taka but that was a diffrent story. "I see him around almost everyday, and we normally hang out a while until I remind him, or he reminds himself, to find you." She chuckled softly before nodding. "Yes he does. He told me that one of the great dancers in the pride is teaching him, he also know's a few others." She flashed a smile.
