..I don't know about you guys, but today at lunch my friends and I were talking about the movie (we all read it when the book first came out, so we own! =D) and noticing what was good or bad; mostly bad lol. However, as we began talking more about the scenes, I got reminded of this particular scene after Edward drives off from Bella's house and exchanges a glare with Billy Black. I came to think... How the heck is Billy Black driving a truck being paralyzed?! xD Doesn't Jacob drive him around? Please someone agree, disagree, or prove me wrong and if there is any possible machine out there to make the paralyzed drive then inform me, please. I just had a good laugh about it.

paralyzed people CAN drive you know. They require hand controls...to operate the vehical...but I understand what you meant

I saw it a while ago, so I'm not completely sure, but I think you're right.
I do kind of remember wondering how he was driving . . .
I'd have to see the scene again to be sure, but I think that's right.

I don't think that he's paralyzed, but I actually thought the same thing when I saw the movie a second time. I was like, "Wait, back up for a second! Billy can't drive! That's the whole reason that he sold the truck to Charlie! The whole reason Jake got to build his car!" Yeah, so I kind of get your point.

billy is paralyzed in the legs. meaning, HE CANT PUSH THE GAS PEDAL.

billy is paralyzed in the legs. meaning, HE CANT PUSH THE GAS PEDAL.
be pretty hard to drive then, huh? uhh...hand controls. Paralyzed people use hand controls. I used to date someone who was paralyzed from the waist down and he could drive around fine. s00..you dont believe me? Look it up.

I see what you're saying and I did look it up, but perhaps it would've been easier for some people ( like me or just me) if there was some sort of referance to it, because I've honestly never heard of a paralitic driving; so I learned something new today. =3 But yeah, if there was something in the movie to indicate that pedal control, I could've had a better understanding of why he's driving. And I realized, the pedal controls they use are similar to the dwarfism pedals. o.O

Me and my friend totally had this conversation after the movie,,
I was a little confusedd .
He seemed to be driving normal,, using no hand controls at all .
So they probably should have made Jake drivingg .
Ohwell,, people who aren't original fans of the
books probably wouldn't look too closely at the details .
And smear the blood across your lips.

They actually stated quite clearly in the book that Billy couldn't drive, I'm not sure which page, but Billy says it himself. If I'm not feeling as lazy later I might go hunt down the quote and cite it, until then just take my word for it. Also, I'm not sure about this, but I think that the vehicles that they drive in the series [all save the Cullens of course] are older and I'm pretty sure, correct me if I'm wrong, that you can't just put the hand controls into the car... I'm not sure though.

you know whats funny? they hire people specifically to sniff out mistakes in movies..like that one...or like when someones wearing a jacket or something then in the next scene they're not...lol sometimes they miss stuff like that, or maybe catherine was going for that, to make handicapped driving more acceptable or something...but I doubt that one. O.o
