I always say that to someone who says "your" instead of "you're". It drives me NUTS that they use the possessive and not the contraction form.

Stupid person: Your funny!
Me: My funny what?

How do you feel about the your/you're thing?

I don't usually say it, but I always think it.

Same here. I figure they won't understand what I'm getting at, so I just leave it alone. It is my biggest spelling pet peeve next to the period/comma-outside-quotation-marks pest.

Well, in some cases, the commas and periods go outside quotation marks, like if you're referring to a word.

Ex: The word on the board was "catastrophe".

The period goes outside because no one is saying the word.

The whole your/you're misspelling kills me, but I never say anything. If you're stupid enough to mix up simple words like that, then it is unlikely that you'll understand a correction. It's almost as bad as the its/it's and there/their/they're, but your/you're should be easier to understand.

Yes. Yes it is. stare

The ironic thing is that none of my friends who know English as a second langauge make that mistake, but native speakers do it far too often. confused

Ooh, I heartily dislike that mistake. If I see that I made it on accident, I'll fix it in a jiffy.

If someone else made the error, I'll probably just ignore it unless it's repeated frequently.

I always correct people when they use 'your' incorrectly. I can't stand it.
Unfortunately, I am more worried about using "you're" where it should be than using "your" where it should be. Thus, on rare occasion, I actually use "you're" where it should say "your"..... (But don't tell anybody, it's rare. No really, it is.)

Ignoring the obvious homophone mix-up for a moment, should friend be singular if they've used we?

On topic, I don't always say anything, but I have been known too. Especially with the better-educated.

It bugs the hell out of me. It is kind of funny when "noobs" do something thinking they're smart though. For instance, I once read on a poster created by an idiot in my class "Drive You're Bike, Not You're Car." Ha, it's still funny!

I had a long moment when the apostrophe on my keyboard wouldn't work. If I ncouldn't use the apostrophe, I would just type out "youre".

And then I woud apologize, saying that my keyboard was being a butt.

And, I have seen, in an Honors English Class, written by the teacher, this hell:

{{Your a good student! Keep up the good work!}}
