I know people seem to make a big deal out of the 'first page ranking'...But I just don't understand why...
Would you rather have a guild that's high up the ranking that you never post in because everyone's a t**t and you can't actually talk to people because they're too busy saying 'bump'?...Or would you rather have one that's slightly lower down but that contains a higher percentage of people that aren't assholes?
There's a couple guilds in the list on the first page that have been deactivated (Nancy Drew Guild is one of them btw)...Trolling makes people post more...Several of the guilds higher up the list are full of some relatively unpleasant people...So arguments happen all the time...Post count goes up...Guild stays higher up the list...Some people take it too far and the crew do nothing for too long...People report something 'offensive' (like boobs - OMG) and because Gaia is PG13...It gets deactivated...It sits in its higher position until another guild has better stats...Either way, they're only at their position in the 'ranking' because of a bunch of twats...It's not something to aspire to...
Second issue with the rank thing is that there's one guild that's only on the first page because the original creator donated millions and millions of gold to the guild account to get there... rolleyes
It'd be like a video game publisher giving money to all the magazines and websites to say their game has 10/10 for everything...Making it the 'best game of all time'...Despite it being an almost exact copy of "MTV's Celebrity Deathmatch" from PS1, with the occasional image of naked and dangerously obese people thrown in at unhelpful times...AND it being stored on 63 separate cassette tapes that would take 8 weeks to load...IF you could even work out a way of reading cassette tapes via a cd-drive...
The high ranking given by the money doesn't stop it from actually being the worst game thrown together in the last 20 years...
So yeah...Why is it the defining criteria of a decent guild to so many people when it means nothing?
If it was worked out purely as 'average posts per member', (which would be a much better measure of how loyal, accepting and active each guild is), guilds that randomly recruit new people and their mules straight out of the chatterbox without them actually contributing anything other than spam (most of the top 10) would just slide right off the page in to obscurity where they belong...
