Are You a vegetarian? rofl
I guess dark_sunshin wrote it at the festival forum...
The animals are like "Slaughter me, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!"
Have you never heard the story? You know about the prophet who was ordered to kill his most loved(his son) and when he closed eyes and cutted, the angel put a sheep, instead of his son...
And it gives thawaab doing it that day, go to festival forum and read dark_sunshin's topic, there you whill get more info, and more detailed stuff.
biggrin Thanks for posting xd

Christians have that story, too. Rain, I'm not a Muslim, so I may be misunderstanding. But you mean sacrifices, right? Like sacrificing animals to God/Allah? The Christians don't sacrifice animals anymore. I think because Jesus told them not to, but I don't really remember. I think the Jews have moved past it, too. But I don't know about Muslims. But in the case of Abraham and Isaac (it's been a long time since I've heard this story, so someone correct me if I mess up, please), God wanted Abraham to prove how devoted he was to Him, and so God ordered Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac. Abraham didn't want to do this, but he also didn't want to go against God's word. So Abraham led his son to the... sacrificing place... was it an alter? He was about to kill his son, but then an angel appeared (or God spoke to him, I don't remember) and said that he had proven himself, and he didn't need to kill his son and should sacrifice an animal instead. This story is from the Old Testament in the Bible (so it's the "Jewish" part, basically). I don't know where it is in the Quran, or even if it's there. (And Rain, asking questions does not make you stupid. It helps you to learn, so that you can be even smarter than you were before.)

Yea that's the drift of it and Yes it is in mentiond in passing in the Qu'ran as the Qu'ran passes over and mentions breifly many OT stories.

I don't beleive that the Jews have sacrificed animals since AD 70 when the Romans destroyed their Temple~ And Christians don't sacrifice because, well, Jesus Christ was the perfect sacrifice and he covered all of our sins and inequities. :]
And as for the Islamic version of the story, isn't the only difference the son who was going to be sacrificed?

And as for the Islamic version of the story, isn't the only difference the son who was going to be sacrificed? Yes, The Rabbinical Jews stopped only after their temple was destroyed, And about the Islam Version, The reason Muslims believe Ishmael was up for sacrifice instead of Isaac is because it says in Genesis twenty-two: Quote: `And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.' With the bold, We can see that Isaac was even according to the Bible, Never Abraham's only son. But the deal here is that the Bible could also be meaning that since Abraham had to restart on his getting "thy only son" it goes to Isaac, Regardless Both The Qur'an and Bible give matters correctly regardless.

I don't understand what you're saying...
At the time, wasn't Isaac the only son of Abraham? Ishmael was the half-brother of Isaac, I beleive~

Ishmael was the half-brother of Isaac, I beleive~ Well that's the other way to look at it, Since Abraham has two sons from two different women, But Isaac was never Abraham's Only Son since Ishmael came first. The situation's simply different because he mated with two different women.
