For the Rose is a Beautiful Flower I was just wondering about this. In my family we tend to have above average language ability. My daughter once told me that her English teacher complimented her ability to revise her work when she had, in fact, just been handing in first drafts.A Beautiful Flower with Thorns

Well, being that I'm a copy editor for a newspaper, my grammar has to be in tip-top shape. My mother is a public speaker for physicians, so she's always spoken with great pronunciation, broad diction, and impeccable grammar; I guess that's from where I get my love for it all. My brother (who has not graduated college) also has great grammar. Now, not to seem racist, but we're all Black. It's not typical that people of our color care about grammar in everyday communication, so we don't fit in well with our people usin' our highfalutin talk, but it doesn't deter us.
