i FOUND THIS ON THE WEB:
There seems to be a lot of talk and UNCERTAINTY surrounding the new Twilight sequel, New Moon.
So much so that new director Chris Weitz and even author Stephenie Meyer had to release statements explaining the situation.
But what about the reports that the studio, Summit, doesn't want to re-hire "baby-faced" Taylor Lautner as Jacob. Apparently, they don't think he has what it takes to play the werewolf love interest/lead in New Moon.
The statements released didn't confirm his return.
That was NOT an oversight!
Now, reports are that the 26 year-old actor Michael Copon, from Scorpion King 2 (above, bottom), is one of the several actors director Weitz is considering to play the new and larger Jacob Black role.
A rep for Copon said they are making all efforts to land this gig. Even Copon is taking to self-advertisement by changing his Facebook status to messages such as "Michael Copon in a Twilight Zone!" and "Michael Copon is the older Jacob Black!" His rep confirmed that the Facebook is indeed Copon's.
Hey, whatever it takes to be noticed!
Even Summit confirmed that omitting Launter from the release wasn't an error. A rep said, "The casting decision in regards to the character Jacob Black has yet to be made."
Drama!!!
Additionally, 27-year-old Prince Caspian star Ben Barnes is also campaigning for a role. He's said to be actiively trying to get the role of Aro, "a mind-reading vampire whose "New Moon" encounter with Edward and Bella helps shape their destiny together." And, coincidentally enough, Barnes has the same manager as Copon and Twilight star Cam Gigandet.
We smell a big paycheck coming in for their manager!
But even when a lead for Jacob has been cast, director Weitz is only left with about 12 weeks until filming starts.
There you have it Twilight fans!

I don't like Michael Copon. I just looked him up online... I have no idea what ethnicity he is, some pictures he looks kind of native american, other's he looks asian.... He doesn't look anything like Jacob Black in Twilight...so I don't know how they're going to make him look more like Taylor Lautner's verison of Jacob...cause, otherwise it will be a crappy transition. (in my opinion.)
I really think she should have thought about New Moon before hiring Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black, cause that's not really fair that they're kicking him off...maybe. haha. it isn't final yet, grrrr.

I saw him, I think he looks like Jacob but I do agree with the part about him looking slightly asian. I actually think he'd make a good jacob with long hair and he has a hell of a smile smile also, taylor might be used for a little while in the movie until he goes to the movies with bellz...then disappears for a little while to come back as Michael. so it might work out yet. Rawr to michael copon though...he's sexy. wink

I agree they do look alot alike. And Jacob isn't all grown up at first. If they are having a hard time with Taylor as an older taller Jacob then the same problem holds with whomever they choose to be the older taller Jacob.

Oooooh! Very interesting stuff. Kudos to Weitz being the director, I do hope it's going to be more impressive than the Twilight movie. Don't get me wrong I liked it considering their budget: but I'd very much like to see how he directs it. And those two... phoar is all I can say xp

To tell you the truth, I always thought Aro was an older guy. I can't imagine Ben Barnes playing him. In my minds eye, I saw Aro as being played by Anthony Stewart Head from Repo the Genetic Opera.

dude they have to keep Taylor Lautner! We all just really got used to him, and attached to him! And they already built up the chemistry between Taylor & Kirsten! They would have to build that up all over again. If Taylor is not in the movie I will not go see it.

As for already being use to Taylor? He was only in the movie for like 3 min. Not a lot of time for me to form any sort of bond to that actor. It would be nice to keep him but too costy with the effects they would need to make him grow.

It was in consideration where they might do stuff like they did with Benjamin Button. Pitt was used the whole time. So they might do stuff like that if taylor Lautner remains Jacob.

i personally liked taylor. I thought he was awesome. as for his part he really waasnt in the movie much and that made me sad. he plays a big part in helping bella find out what the cullens are and they just totally cut that out. his part would have been a little longer if they had followed the whole werewolf/vampire story.
I DONT WANT THEM TO CHANGE JACOB

Hmm . . . .
Michael Copon is not bad. Plus he and Taylor look very similar.
I just posted a long opinion of another thread, and I'm not going to repeat it, so I'll just give the gist of what I said:
I don't think Taylor can pull off Jacob in the second half of New Moon. He is too jolly and cute and happy to play anger-filled rude werewolf Jacob. An older, less baby-faced actor may do a better job.
BUT I don't want to see Taylor replaced if it can be helped. If the director and producers think he can do the role justice, then I trust their judgement and look forward to seeing Taylor in the second movie. But if they don't think he can, then sorry Taylor, it was nice while it lasted. I'd rather they replaced him than put him in when he can't handle the role.
Like I said, I trust their judgement. If they think he needs to be replaced, then I think it's for the best, if they don't, then I trust Taylor can handle the role.
But I do not want to see Steven Strait playing Jacob. No no no way. Michael Copon or Taylor Lautner.
