As many know, the double-barrel shotgun is a staple of modern hunting today. The pump-action made trench warfare in WW2 that much lethal as well. Today, in a unusual search for a "middle ground," I found the home-made Remington 1740 double-barrel pump-action shotgun.

Now, many see that and are in the same thought I was: No way is it real. Well, I'm happy to report it is true. A use on www.thehighroad.com named Deer Hunter created the beast and even posted his journey from a simple, video-game inspired idea to the prototype he still has today. For more info, check out the forum thread I found:

It took me longer to figure out why it was called the 1740 than it took me to read the article. I think winter break has kicked in sweatdrop

I'm actually curious as to why it's called the 1740.
EDIT: Never mind... I think I also am suffering from Winter Break Brain Drain. XP

It's a crazy idea, but it looks like it works alright. Im sure it would be confusing to shoot in a pinch, since you'd have to remember to pull both triggers separately before recocking it, but props nonetheless

Now, if he could fuse the bodies together, get the stock and the pistol grip centered and the triggers closer together somehow, then it would truly be a pump-action double

Can't tell, but is the ejection port on the left side actually left facing?

The ejection ports are facing opposite eachother, so shells fly both ways. As for the trigger issue, I sort of had a "ghetto" solution to it: tension trigger. If ya could rig up a small system with a strip of leather or cord over both triggers that is tightened by a "3rd" main trigger pull, that could work in theory. *shrugs* Damnit Jim, I'm a college student, not a gunsmith.

The biggest thing I disliked is you accidentally said trench warfare in WW2, when you probably meant WWI.

And you should look at http://world.guns.ru/shotgun/sh08-e.htm

Do want.
Although some 3m Engineering would be required to make a better trigger.

The Neostead has one barrel though. Two magazines, one barrel.

Wait till they make a 3 barrel shotgun.

Left handed and right handed shotgun with a bottom ejecting one in the middle.

Now you're seriously ******** you pale skins!

I'd rather it be with rivets or perhaps screws. rolleyes

I wonder if the barrels are angled so that at a given distance the shot patterns merge.
