Yes.
To make it epic you need someone with an officer's cap swinging a sword outside the passenger side window.

Why build a compromise when you can buy German engineering built for the purpose?

Get a Pinzgauer or Unimog instead. $15,000 is about what you'll drop on a properly tricked out Dodge or GMC truck.

'Mogs here are about $25,000 for a stock one, my buddy owns a massive orange one and he's put over $40,000 into it.

I bought my Ram for $500, put $300 into it to make it run, $500 for the new motor, probably $1500 for the tires and I'm going to build everything else myself. To make my truck identical to that I'm looking at about $3000 all in.

and Mogs are too expensive to drive, they won't do highway speed (55mph at best) and the newest one you can get in Canada is like a 70's version.

I'm really not all that excited about off roading, but I know one hard and fast rule.

Speed is not the point unless you're in the Baja 1000.

The second rule is this:

Four wheel drive will tend to get you stuck twice as deep twice as far from help.

The third rule:

Know thy winch!

While it's bound to be way beyond anyone's pocketbook here, take a look at the newest Mog. I want!

A good old Opel Blitz Truck makes me want to jump up and down on a talk show person's couch.

The Unimog was the first production vehicle that was built in Germany after WWII. It was the salvation of the rural farming industry and helped jumpstart the auto industry in general. Dozens of countries adapted it as their primary troop supply mover.

And good luck getting one of those Opel trucks. They are scarce as all hell these days.

I like how Unimogs are, well, everything from trucks to tractors to shunt engines.

But they're expensive as all hell, pricey as ******** here, and spare parts are scarce (and I am very, very good at breaking s**t.)

I am well versed in offroad rules, I've been doing it since before I could drive. whee
