I watch Kevin Rose's twitter feed. Guy created the Digg news aggregation website among other things. And he finds some cool toys.

Take a look at this tiny grappling hook. Right out of a Batman movie. I want!

Hmm, they should make a pouch that fits on a utility belt.
Like the real Batman!

That, along with a Popeil Pocket Fisherman! Never know when you're going to need to take out a trip wire.

I have no problem with aluminum. My AR is aluminum. Airplanes are aluminum. Body armor is aluminum [oxide]. It's incredible stuff.

Yup and...
Nearly injured? I had a fish hook go into my thumb when I was baiting the neighbor kid's hook.
I wasn't done, I said something to her and she said, "okay!" and casted.
Short story whatever, if you're baiting someone's hook, ******** hold onto the rod as well.
Where was I? Oh yeah, that s**t went into my thumb and I didn't go, "omfg! We need to make something safer!"

I thought body armor was made of plastics.
THAT PLASTICS COMMERCIAL LIED TO ME! xd

It's possible that Kevlar is a type of plastic, but trauma plates are hardened aluminum oxide.

Oh yeah.
I thought they used steel plates or whatever for the better armor.
But I guess aluminum is a bit lighter. whee

Note though that sapphire is a form of aluminum oxide, and ranks a 9 on the Mohs scale. Diamond is the measuring stone at a solid 10.

Indeed they are, but steel is much stronger and would be able to hold a persons weight better.

If I were carrying my body weight on my back, I'd STILL be less than 350 pounds, and you know they cut that number way down for legal reasons anyway, so I don't see any problem with the aluminum version. That's just me though; for the huskier gentleman with a modest hundred-pound pack on, that might be stretching it a bit, but I really don't see such a person doing much ninja climbing.

I think anyone really serious about that kind of scaling really wants the big brother.
