Storyline:

A new continent has been discovered in the world by a boatfull of refugees, fleeing the devistating war that had been ravaging thier country. These people began to build new lives for themselves, a new town called Crystal Moon Valley. Life is not completely peaceful however. many monsters lurk in the new land which are a constant threat to the people. However, some of these monsters and many of the animals of the land are capable of being tamed and used on farms or for other purposes.

As a resident, what role will you play in the town's success?

Rules:
1.> Obey Gaia ToS
2.> No Godmodding
3.> Technology is a mixture of medieval and colonial times. Firearms are flintlocks and wheellocks and take time and skill in reloading and are not very accurate unless the person is highly skilled.
4.> Keep romance PG-17
5.> Keep cussing to a minimum
6.> If you are going to be gone for a while, let us know

Classes and starting gear:

Farmers: These are the heart and soul of the town. Without food, the people can't survive. Starts with a small farm (20 square feet), small house, chicken barn, cow barn, feed silo, dog house, water well, watering can, hoe, chopping axe, scythe, 1 bag of grass seed, 1 bag of turnip seed, 1 bag of potatoe seed, 1000 gold.

Rune Knight: Rune knights are also farmers, but they have something more. They collect rune energy from the crops they grow in order to fuel thier combat spells. While the farmer focues more on feeding the masses, Rune Knights are the protectors of the town. Because of how busy they are, they do not usually produce as much food for the population as a farmer does, and because of the time they spend farming, thier traveling and battling time is also limited. Starts with a small farm (20 square feet), small house, chicken barn, cow barn, feed silo, dog house, water well, watering can, hoe, chopping axe, scythe, sword, shield, light armor, 1 bag of grass seed, 1 bag of turnip seed, 1 bag of potatoe seed, 500 gold.

Shopkeepers: The shopkeepers manage supply lines and keep things fair and equitable. There are many different types of shops: Farming supplies, blacksmith, gunsmith, bookstore, jewelcrafter, butcher, tavern, tailor/seamstress, house supplies and expansion shop, grocery store, pet store and a fishing supplies store. Starts with thier respective shop, equipment for the respective job and a small house. Shopkeepers get 10,000 gold per season, but must buy the supplies they intend to sell or need to craft sellable items.

Tamers: These people are responsible for taming wild animals and monsters that can be sold to farmers, Rune Knights and other people. They can also breed animals to create domestic pets. Starts with a small house, one hut (for wild animals and monster, each hut holds 6), one firearm, a tent, flint n steel, 10 rounds of ammo.

Rangers: These are the full-time monster hunters. They don't have use of magic like Rune Knights do, but thier ability to survive off of the wilderness allows them to dedicate themselves fully to the town's protection. Mostly they make thier living selling hides and meats to the tailors and buthcers and herbs to the hospital. Starts with a small house, a bow, quiver of 20 arrows, sword, one firearm, 10 rounds of ammo, 500 gold.

Doctors/Nurses/Veterinarians: These vitally important people are the ones responsible for keeping people, pets and worker monsters in good health. Doctors and Nurses tend to the humans, while Veterinarians tend to animals and monsters. They buy herbs in order to make medicines and remedies. Thier services in the clinic are free, but take-home medicines and remedies carry a price. They start off with a clinic, an alchemy lab, a house, and are given 10,000 gold a season for living expenses and to buy herbs and replace equipment.

Priest: The preist is the shepard of religion in the town. Every Holiday he holds mass for the people, and whenever a couple decide to get married, he's the one they see. His services are always free, and his income is based on donations. Starts with a small house and a church.

Lumberjacks: These hearty men provide the lumber for the various house expansions, heating wood and wood to craft home furnishings with. They do, howevewr, keep respect to nature and only harvest wood from tree farms that they themselves grow. Lumberjacks start with a 50 square foot tree farm, a lumber mill, a heavy axe, 500 gold and a small house.

Miner: Miners go deep into the many caves that surround Crystal Moon Valley and mine for metals and gemstones. They make thier living selling ores and gems to blacksmiths, gunsmiths and jewelcrafters. They also mine for minerals needed by gunsmiths to make gunpowder and to the clinics to make certain medicines. They are also armed for combat since monster primarilly dwell in said caves. Starts with a small house, mining pickaxe, sword, 500 gold.

Married With Children

So you found someone and want to settle down and raise a family right? Wel, there are a few requirements to get out of the way first. In order to get married, you need:

Someone who's interested in you (duh! razz )
Your houses needs to be upgraded at least once
You need a Large Bed
You need to propose with a Charm Blue Flower
You need to have the other person accept your proposal razz

Once you've met these requirements, just talk to the priest and set a day for the wedding.

Now on the subject of children. It takes a woman 150 days (5 seasons) before they give birth. Yes, it does take a long time. Kids don't just pop out like pez candies from a dispenser.

Fatigue, Health and Combat

No man is Superman. You work, you get tired. What happens when you get too tired? You pass out. You need food to keep you going through the day. If you work to the point of exhaustion, it's possible that you will become sick and have to miss a few days of work. And in a world like this, it could spell disaster. A shop closed because the keeper came down with a cold? No profit for that day, and you could huirt other people who are dependant on your business.

Combat. You can miss, you can get hurt. You cannot godmode, otherwise the powers that be (ME) have a nasty surprise for your character. if you are defeated in battle, you will be brought to the clinic (monsters don't seem capable of killing people, andmonsters beaten in battle are sent to the Forest of Origin), and from there you will spend the rest of the day recouping, unable to get any of your work done fo rthe day. So when exploring caves, make sure you don't get in over your head.

Exploring caves requires a permit from the Mayor, and each cave requires it's own permit. Some caves can only be accessed during certain seasons.

If you own a pet or buy a pet/monster/farm animal, you need to talk to the vet to have him/her come down and take a look at the critters. Otherwise, your pets could get sick. If they get sick, medicine isn't cheap, and your pets lose friendship if you let it go on . Let it go too long (5 days) and your critter will die. It doesn't cost anything for a routine checkup, so it's best to just have the good vet pay a visit twice a season.

You can buy medicines and remedies from the clinics to save for a rainy day as well. While being treated at the clinic is free, it won't hurt to fork over some gold and lighten the docotr's workload.

Actions and Time

Time doesn't stand still and neither do you. Every action your character takes takes up time. Tilling a 20 square foot field takes half an hour, taking takes from seconds to hours depending on how talkative the person is (and how unwilling you are to leave as they're talking your brains out), coking takes half an hour, etc. There are 24 hours in a day. Make them count and don't exhaust yourself.
