Hewa ached, but he found it to be a pleasing sort of soreness. Kasdeya was doing well, thriving under his training...Almost too well, he laughed to himself! She'd managed to give him a few new scars, but it was all for the better. She had a destiny, he was sure, and even if she was a bit of a headcase and more stubborn than a water buffalo (and nevermind more wicked than a hyena when she wanted to be) he was going to at least try to help.
thankfully today was their rest day. Train a day, rest a day, that was how his father had taught him. At least he thought so. How long had it been since he'd seen home? Too long. Maybe once he took his name ceremony and became a full adult he could travel a bit. See mom and dear dad again before settlign for good. They had to be worried, he'd been snatched away so long ago. He couldn't be mad at his elder brother though. It was thanks to him he'd been able to travel, see the world, and finally find this place. Where they knew why he had to sing, why the world was less colors and more music to him. Becaue the creature inside of him saw it that way, that was why.
He sighed when he came upon his favorite seat, a rock well marked with muddy paw prints and old scratch marks. He and the other youths of the pride had often played here, even though it was on the very edge of the pride's lands. They'd felt safe enough, and though few came here now he liked it enough to return. He leapt up to sit on the stone, tail hanging off the back and swishing gently.
...Swish...swish...swish...pat-swish (his paw tapped the stone) ...pat-swish...pat-swish-pat-swish...pat-swish... Letting the familiar feeling come over him, he began to pat out a rhythm on the rock, causing a nearby hare to perk, see him, and run. No matter. Once the tune was right, he began to sing. Not to anyone in particular, and using no words known to man or beast. Just a melody, happy and bright, and a bit out of place in the land of the demons.

See me. Watch me. Love me. Cheer for more. Nasain was walking through the trees, a bounce in her step and a rhythm in her soul that beat arainst her ribs and pumped through her blood. It moved her, swayed her made her breathe and hum. It pushed her to move irregularly. Light on her pawns and something sweet to look at untill she took a bow and left. A Dancer. That's all she was. There were thoughts in her mind but those weren't important to her. She paused and listened to the world around her, closing her smokey eyes to see the colors that every pitch created in her head as her tail swayed to the beat. A Thump. A new sound. A rhythm. Her paws moved forward, following the sounds. No point in watching where she was going now. The beat had hooked her and was pulling her to the sweet sweet sound. It got louder, closer. She stopped and opened her eyes, careful not to barge into anything that may land her into any trouble. Something that she didn't want to sweet talk herself out of. She called out in a honey sweet tone, "Hello? Is there anything there?"

He'd seen her dancing towards him, but at first he'd imgained her to jsut be his imagination. Part of the music, come to life in his mind's eye. She moved perfectly in time, and he found himself singing louder, seeing if she would dance faster, or closer. And she did. Until finally, a fair many feet away still she stopped and looked around. He let the song finish awkwardly, letting the tune die mid-line. It hung a moment in the air, then died as he slowed his tail and sat up a bit straighter.
"Hello, I'm here!" He called back. No demon on sentry duty now, he was far more interested in whomever this was. Should he hop down? No, no, but he wiggled a little closer to the front of the rock, toes wiggling in the air.
"I'm Mahewa...Might I have your name, lady dancer?"

"Nasian." One little word to appease his appetite for knowledge of whom she was, after all she wasn't planning on sticking around long enough for him to find out more about her. Her dark eyes looked him over, letting them wander over the scars anda dark red markings. Had he really been the one to make such sweet sounds? He looked much more like a fighter than a musician.
She took a few memorizing steps towards him, careful not to take her eyes off of him. As far as she was concerned this was just another show to put on and just another heart to leave begging for more when she was done with him.
"Can you play a few more beats?" She asked smoothly. "I'd like to hear the rest of your song." She purred and smiled with her eyes.

Her name was nice, he decided. Something about her reminded him of someone...but who? then a moment later it clicked. He'd spent a week or two with a pride known for their musical prowess while still a juvenile. She was like those lions that had danced there! He remembered having been entranced at first, disbelieving a body could move so well. Later he'd grown more accustomed to it, awe swapped for admiration at their skill and dedication.
He caught her glances and grinned sheepishly. He mist look a sight with day-old wounds scabbed over from dealing with Kasdeya! Ah well, it didn't bother him enough for him to worry that it bothered her.
"How about I'll sing if you dance?" somehow he felt like he shouldn't let her get too much of an upper hand in...whatever it was they were doing. He scuffed a paw on the rock, a quick one-two, before quirking a brow as if to say, 'Shall we?'

Hmmm. What a pleasant offer. It was, after all exactly what she wanted him to do and dancing to the beat was simply perfect. Nasain nodded her head in agreement and took another step forward, staring at him with bright button-esque eyes and taking a small bow, a sly smirk on her face.
"I would thoroughly enjoy that, sir." The honey sweet words dripped out of her mouth and stained the air with a fake sweetness, "Now hurry along and play that music." She laughed at herself, thinking she was being cute as she waited for the rhythm to begin.
Her tail was twitching back and forth in time to her heartbeat as her paws tapped along with beat he was playing with his paws. This was going to be fun. Here eyes closed as she listened to the sounds around her and began to move with it. Simply Perfect.

Ahh, good! she was going to dance again! Hewa shuffled about on the rock in an almost child-like excitement. How long had it been since he'd met someone with the same affinity for music? A thought glanced past his mind then, but he dismissed it for now. Maybe she has a demon like mine? Her tone certainly was silky-sweet enough to have come from a master ensnarer of minds and hearts, her colors were right...There was one way he could find out.
He let her get her own beat then followed it, weaving his own thumps and swishes around the base rhythm of her pre-chosen tempo. Eventually he let his voice join in ululation, though he was careful to keep his eyes open wide this time. He wanted to see her move, see how she followed the tune...
It started well enough, bright and warm, but with energy enough to keep her on her toes--a tune like that of a gypsy, quick and spry, with a bit of off-colored mischief mixed in. As it went on though, it began to slip lower, and suddenly he threw in a key change, dropping into an almost minor-chord style. Let's see how she handled that! The only problem with trying to 'woo' another music maker was they, more often that not, would start 'wooing' back.

'He's cheating.' Nasain thought to herself and smiled. She liked it when people played dirty, it gave her more to go on, more to show off. She opened her eyes wide and stared at him listening closely to his melancholy melody and she snapped herself from moving liquidity to sharp precise movements, licking her lips as she went.
"Is that the best you have?" Her eyes closed and she listened closely for anymore changes, still enjoying the beats around her. It was so pleasant, smooth and perfectly matched to a beat that made her heart pound and mind flutter as she thought on her toes, dancing fancy pirouettes.
Nasain moved closer and closer to where he was sitting and stopped, staring at him curiously. "How many songs do you have? Or are you just like me? No thought, just the beat of your heart and a song weaved into your soul?" She questioned, trying to look seductive and intriguing.

Hewa was pleasantly surprised when she followed his rhythm without pause. Still, he shouldn't have been. It was clear that she was very good at what she did. When she caught his eyes he stared back, a bit of rivalry and interest flickering therein. He didn't bother to answer her with words. That would ruin it, and he knew better. Instead he just let the song go on, slowing and dwindling like an old bird fluttering to rest as she crept closer.
Letting the vocal portion of the song peter out, he smiled and increased the volume of his paw-beats on the rock. If only he had a real drum this would be something! "How many songs? One for each blade of grass, my fair sprite, a tune for each stone and roving herd." It was true that that was how he thought of it. Even places had their own feel, and with that their own 'song'. He just picked up on them when others could not and turned them into music everyone could hear.
"People have their own songs too..." He perked his ears towards her. Maybe if she stuck around he'd sing hers for her one day.

Nasain promptly sat down in front of him, staring up at him. What a nice little discovery. This nice little male was on her brain wave and what a lovely little brain wave it was. The mask painted into the pelt made her feel mysterious and she batted her eyes, enjoying the company of this new musician. He seemed so...insightful.
"Oh? Do I have my own song? And can you pin it to me so quickly after meeting me?" She asked, trying to hide her excitement. Nasain wanted to hear it. Now. Wanted to dance and twirl to it. Now. Waiting would seem painful and meant she would need to come back to hear it. It seemed so miserable.
Nasain sighed and took a step back, humming to herself before asking, "Where did you come from? Are there other lions in this little hiding hole?" She laughed at herself and peeked back at him, expectantly.

Hewa let himself look down over the rock's ledge at her. He smiled, thinking how her facial markings reminded him of one of the pride's cubs. Maybe they were distant relatives? "You do. Everyone does." He appeared to look her over, leaping down to circle her (and offer her a return look), humming to himself all the while. "Perhaps. I at least know the tune you weave to those around you. Maybe not the true song of your heart yet, but I know the one you sing most often."
Of course he wasn't going to sing it now. He knew how it ended, and it ended with her running away. Why not make friends? Maybe she was right for the Aikanaro'hini. This was going to be his job soon, right? He may as well test his skills with one so willing first. And joy of joys, she was curious!
"I come from everywhere." The truth. "I wasn't born here, but I've seen most of the world, visited so many prides I can barely remember just what beliefs belonged to my home one. And there are many others here. This is the land of the Aikanaro'hini pride," He added. "And are you from anyplace special, my sweet?" Be charming, right? That's what he'd do, to woo her in.

Oh La La! Even his hums were sending shivers down her spine and took her a conscious effort to sit still and poised as he moved around her, looking at her the same way she stared him down. Why did musician do this to pretty ladies? It seemed that it was every females dream to speak with a male that could interest them and lull them into happiness with a melody. Maybe she should dig her claws into this before anyone else did.
"So, Hewa, the Aikanaro'hini pride?" She tried to sound interested, "Never heard of it." She laughed again, dismissing the pride. She really couldn't care less about prides, those involved other creatures. That was much to difficult to keep track of.
"I move with the wind and the sounds. I find a beat I enjoy and follow that. I'm alone and I always have been." Nasain smiled, enjoying this more than she thought she would.

Perhaps a few moons ago he would have been easily swayed and bent to such a performer's will, he could see how she was watching him (which both unnerved and excited him, frankly) but not now. No, he was older, wiser...he'd make her come to him if she was that interested. Come to the pride, for a time at least.
He sat before her again, tail still swishing out a tempo in the grass, a fine -wshhhwshhhwshhhwshhh- "It's not well known yet. It will be though, don't worry. My sister and I live here."
Ahh, how he missed travel. Soon though, soon. "I used to wander far and wide...soon I'll do that again, looking for adventure and telling others about this place." Maybe with some luck they'd meet again on such a trip, and he could convince her to join...

Nasain rocked her head to the sound of Hewa swishing his dark tail against the light colored grass. She enjoyed the contrast between the two. It was art in it's simple little forms. So Nice. So clean in shape and sound. It got her mind spinning. Did she want to try and convince this talented older male to travel witrh her and live her gypsy ways? All for the sake of his songs? No. She shook off the thought. Alone. That was the way to live.
Nasain made a small circle, edging away from the male, smiling. "Really? Wander again?" So Perfect, so wrong. "Where might you be traveling to, sir?" She kept that smile plastered on her face, trying to scoot away slowly, without notice. 'Leave them begging for me, Nasian. Always leave them begging for YOU.' She thought, loudly to herself. She wouldn't be the one to beg for him. No. She wouldn't ask, wouldn't breath an air of need. No. No. No.

Hewa slid down to be reclining on his stomach. One paw crossed languidly over the other, and he stretched, head being held high and back, aconfident pose to match his smile. Ah, shame, it looked like she was leaving. His tail swished harder, the sound louder. He took a moment to answer, instead humming a bit of a counter beat, a final enticement.
"Home, I think. nowhere and everywhere. To wherever I can find folk to listen to me, or who think how I think." More demons to bring home, or those of the right colors...maybe he'd visit that old fatty of a dad that he had too, and see how mom was. He didn't miss them, no, but it'd be nice to see them again. Maybe he could get a drum while out too, to add to his song.
