I used to be into Slipknot back in the day.
But then I realised that 4 guys could make that same music.
It just looks like a giant ******** on stage with all 9 of them jumping around and stroking their collective noses.

In Slipknot, all of them has an important part in the band, like Shawn Crahan And Chris Fehn are back up singers and they play gegs, without them, Slipknot wouldn't be Slipknot, and 9 members makes Slipknot special smile

Yea, I mean I understand that they all do something different.
And without each member they wouldn't be "Slipknot".
And don't get me wrong, Joey is one of the best drummers out there in my opinion, and Corey is a great singer. It just seems like they're trying too hard to be weird for the sake of selling records and I'm a believer of "let the music define your audience". But with Slipknot they've acquired so much publicity and so many fans just my looking the way that they do.
Now they have grown a lot musically since they first started.
Especially lyrically. (I have no idea what the ******** "Blackheart" was supposed to be about.) lol
So I am interested in how they are going to progress.
Its just not really my cup o tea anymore.
Thats all I'm sayin.

ok razz But I think that "Blackheart" isn't even Slipknot's song, 'cause the voice in that song doesn't hear like Corey Taylor, it is brobably other bands song, but some idiot has changed the name. But thats just a gues mrgreen

It was slipknot back when they had their old singer Anders Colsefini.
They went through two different singers during the recording process of Mate, Feed, Kill, Repeat, their first (mostly underground) EP in 1996.
Blackheart was one of the songs that got cut from that album because of the change of singers.
They had the same problem with their second EP Crowz which was never released for the same reason in 1997.

I've just never really been a big fan of Nu Metal so I never really got into Slipknot as much as everyone else. But don't get me wrong Surfacing was probably my number one listened to song my freshmen year of high school. Even though I despise that opening riff because it makes no sense what so ever. lol
But I think Slipknot appeals to that age group mostly because listening to it is like pouring liquid angst into your ear through a funnel. And lets face it, when you're that age (I don't know about you but I was) pissed at the entire planet for absolutely no reason except for the fact that I was born on it. lol
I think they take that into account when they make their music. They definitely have a target audience and it mainly consists of young to mid teens. But I dig how much they've grown since their self titled album in 1999.
