I can accept many miracles, especially when it's just something that was once considered unlikely, but in this day and age, is bound to happen eventually. A black man is now President of the United States. One man won eight gold medals in the Olympics this past summer. Rosie O'Donell (who I thought nobody cared about anymore?) continues to land jobs on television. Strange things happen every day. This much is obvious. But some things I do not understand.
1.) Britney Spears is making a comeback. This, statistically, measurably, observationally, is true. Now, I was around when she was first 'discovered' and it was bad then. How can it possibly be any better now? And what will they call her next album? 'Britney- How Being Royally Retarded Didn't Ruin My Life, And Why You Care'?
2.) Chick flicks as a whole. No genre, in my humble opinion, is less unoriginal or less worth spending my money on. Really? People, listen to me right now. Really?
3.) The power of Disney, as a conglomerate, as a corporation. Let's face it, there are COUNTRIES out there that Disney could BUY. And then they, too, could be infected with the diseases we know as Hannah Montana, High School Musical, The Jonas Brothers, etc. It continues to amaze me that intelligent members of humanity go ape over these otherwise unremarkable people/shows/bands.
4.) Geographical ignorance. And I'm not talking about 'Where is Guyana?' Which does exist, by the way. I'm talking about 'How many states are there in America?' and the born and bred Americans who are like 'Um, duh, forty-nine?' What, Hawaii sunk into the ocean since the last time I watched the news? Or, even better, the people who answer 'Fifty-one?' Here's a valuable piece of information: although it basically gets all the perks of the position, Puerto Rico is not part of America. In anybody else, this would be known as 'tax-dodging'.
5.) CEO's. Now, I don't mean all CEO's, I'm sure many of them are lovely people who deserve thier job and their pay check. But the head of the IRS has not payed his taxes. Yes, I said THE HEAD OF THE IRS. The guy in charge of the whole tax operation. Nor have many of our senators or congressmen. Wanna do the world a favor? Call your local political representatives and give them a friendly reminder that thier taxes are due April fifteen. Just like the rest of us.

THANK YOU. Someone else says it.
I can't even describe how much I hate Disney right now cause of their shows. I hiss and scream when my friends flip to that channel. Apparently it amuses them. But that is my general reaction to any of those shows. burning_eyes
Except it's ignorance in general that really irritates me. Especially when I see it in essays as a tutor or something. The other day is a perfect example:
Student: "Hey, what does that red squiggly line in Word mean? Here, under that word?" [The word "I'm" is spelled "Im" on her paper."]
me: "It means the word is misspelled, hun."
Student: [she right clicks, and it says "no spelling suggestions."] "Well, it says no spelling suggestions. It can't be wrong."
me: [trying to restrain myself] "It's supposed to have an apostrophe."
Student: "....oh."
Dear gods above, where do they come from? ninja

Well...hmmm.... So there are people that share my opinion around here. I'm very glad there is a sane group that doesn't blindly follow what's happening around.
- I wasn't just a kid when Britney came around, she was pretty offensive at the time, I never really liked her voice or her videos, and now she came back??? Where is the world headed?
- As for the Disney matter, Nothing was worse to me. When I was a kid watching Disney movies and show was larger than life. I waited eagerly for their next movie and spent my week waiting for may favorite show on the weekends (that was Ducktales), but now, Disney is just another MTv with less varieties. Sorry Disney, No more respect for you.
- The ignorance problem isn't tackled the same way around the world, peolpe here (Egypt) are ignorant on different levels, and it's so long to cite, it would stetch the page.
- I'm laughing now at your IRS comment, and I have nothing to say about it.

Now that you've mentioned Britney, I can't get that annoying song out of my head. >.<
It's stupid, it's sickeningly synthesized, but dammit, it's catchy. Curse it. >.<
Just like Disney's latest exploits (High School Musical, in particular). I hate it, I hate it with the last breath in my body, but the songs are engineered to be sickeningly catchy. It's the way they operate.
So, it now being May, has the head of the IRS shown any signs of having paid his dues?
